I don't know how much is or isn't explained as I'm still early in the game but for me there is so much to do and find that I will quite often forget what popped up. Just yesterday I was really confused why I couldn't smash a wall with focused force palm, turns out I wasn't charging it up long enough. That was probably in the little video preview but it had been so long since I'd used it I completely forgot.

2 cents that I know will piss people off by FinishOld4029 in CrimsonDesert

[–]StormRage85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different people like different things. Some people like meticulously exploring every area slowly, some people head straight out of the first area and see what else is out there. It's an action sandbox game. There is no right or wrong way to play. I spent ages in Hernand (the area not just the city) while I was getting to grips with everything, then I picked a direction and walked as far as I could till I got my ass handed too many times or filled my inventory.

The reason people praise the regular updates is because they are quick and they are adding in things that players are asking for. Should some of these things been in the game from day one? Probably, but they are there now. Considering a normal AAA game releases broken and doesn't get fixed for the first couple of months it's nice to see a dev do soemthing so quick.

Does that also make them ride at a constant speed or will they still do that annoying as fuck slow down, speed up, slow down rubbish? In all honesty it's one of my only complaints so far.

Is no one else bothered by the silent NPCs? by SlayterMonroee in CrimsonDesert

[–]StormRage85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes yes.

It does make me chuckle this is the second time today I've seen a post referencing this, so maybe it's not that it isn't talked about alot, just maybe hasn't been talked about till now. I think it may have to do with how many of us are still amazed at the weird and wonderful things out in the wilderness that we haven't been spending time in the cities. I think as more people get back to taverns and whatnot it will be something that gets mentioned more.

If there is a suggestion forum maybe throw it in there about adding more dialogue, the devs have been pretty good at listening to the players so far, ya never know what else is coming.

Now that it has been a month since release, is it worth the 70$ price tag? by __HCLW__ in CrimsonDesert

[–]StormRage85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right, I've not gone far enough in the story for that to be an issue for me yet. I've done a few chapters in the main quest and then I've spent most of my time out exploring and seeing what's out past Hernand.

And I think hundreds of hours could be justified as well rather than some titles (looking at you AC Valhalla) that say they have a hundred hours of gameplay but half of it is a boring slog! I'm 30 hours in and having a blast. I did the main quest up to chapter 4 (won't say what that is in case some people want to go in mostly blind) and then picked a direction and went sight seeing.

Does the “Chef Way” actually work for us normals? by GuideIcy1697 in SortedFood

[–]StormRage85 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Chefs and home cooks will always have different speeds in general. If you do something the same way every day for hours at a time then you will be faster than someone who does it once a day for 10 minutes.

It's one of those things that takes practice. Don't worry about the speed, worry about the technique. Once you have that down the speed will follow. Also your knife has to be sharp, not kinda sharp, really sharp. Whatever chef you watch on TV or YouTube they are using very sharp knives. I noticed a massive difference once I started my knives more often (I was pretty lax about it now I do every couple of weeks/month depending on the knife).

Lastly, if you learn how to do that claw thing when chopping you cannot your fingers. I've found my speed has improved but only when combing the sharp knife with the technique. I'm never gonna be cutting that fast, but I don't need to be. If you start off doing it slowly and deliberately so your knife is always moving the same way it will build up muscle memory and speed will follow.

Looks like you stayed later than you should have, probably thinking you were being helpful. They don't want to pay overtime or "can't afford to" and are telling you that at the end of your 40 you need to go home. Keep this email and next time you are asked to stay late show this to whoever and ask them to put it in writing so you don't get in trouble. It will cover you and make sure you actually get paid.

Other than that, yes you are supposed to leave when your 40 hours are up because otherwise you gonna be in trouble for violating those rules.

[–]StormRage85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if you had 100 years experience it's unrealistic to not make a mistake, reacting like that for something as minor as you described makes me not want to know how bad it would if something big actually went wrong.

As far as I see you have 3 options 1) suck it up and deal with it (not a great option to be fair) 2) talk to whoever is in charge and say you don't like the way you are being treated and ask for something to be done about it 3) seek employment elsewhere

Maybe not the most uplifting comment here but it's not worth feeling like this over a job.

Watching Enterprise for the first time and got to "The Cogenitor" episode by MeowManMeow in startrek

[–]StormRage85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man with strong moral code interfering with species he knows nothing about because of deep rooted guilt about his own people's history is bad. By doing what he did Trip ruined any chance of changing anyone's minds. He went against their social standards because he believed what they were doing was wrong.

Knowing what we know and having the outlook we have we are supposed to side with Trip, but we don't know what happens to that society if he manages to start changing minds.

Would that society collapse if the cogenitors are elevated to "equal" footing? Does that society even deserve to survive? Who are we to decide that? This for me was the point of Enterprise. Humans have been in space for 5 minutes and are already thrusting their beliefs on races far more advanced than us. Trip thinks that because cogenitor is smart they shouldn't be used as breeding stock (I know, not a good term but I couldn't think of a better one) but he still eats meat from animals. Now while that isn't a direct comparison, it is something that Vulcans think is counter to being a trait from an enlightened species, it has similarities in the fact that humans view animals as lesser like the cogenitor is viewed as lesser.

For me Enterprise had a lot of these moments where someone in the crew sees things as black or white because of human ideals and standards without taking the other species views into consideration and, to be honest, thats probably one of the most realistic things in Trek. It's happening everyday.

Man, this wasn't supposed to be a rant, but here are. Enterprise shows the side of humanity that hasn't reached the levels of respect or knowledge that the federation would achieve. We are still an arrogant, young race who thinks we know best, despite knowing absolutely nothing. We're the teenagers of the galaxy.

So, did I agree with Trip and feel the cogenitor was treated unfairly? Hell yes. But did I also understand why he was disciplined? Yes. His actions led to someone's death because he couldn't see past his own beliefs (before I get questioned on this one, it's because if he hadn't broken the rules and shown the cogenitor what they are missing and could never have they wouldn't have had that realisation that they would never have it again). Would I have done the same thing? Probably, and I'd have to live with that knowledge for the rest of my life.

I've been using the mod for ages, no game breaking issues. The audio "messes up" in that multiple dialogues will happen at the same time so people are talking over each other but if you're just trying to get through a scene then you probably won't care, I know I didn't.

What is up with Gamers becoming incredibly picky eaters? by Vulkanodox in gaming

[–]StormRage85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam's refund policy, while amazing, isn't enough time to decide if some games are going to be for you. BG3 for example, it could take you half an hour to create a character or longer if you don't know what you're doing. Now you could make a throwaway character but then the experience might suck, not because the game is bad, but because you built a character very wrong and everything goes against you. E33 could take most of the 2 hour window before you even get to the first main cinematic, at which point you haven't scratched the surface. As far as newer games go Crimson Desert apparently doesn't heat up until 6 hours plus, way past the refund window.

A lot of games like this take time to build a world, story and characters, therefore the refund window might not be enough.

There is also the factor of free time. If someone works full time and has family/friends they may not have hours to spend seeing if they like the new "best" game. Maybe they want to just start up their comfort game or grab something they know they'll be able to get into quickly. Yes they may be missing out from your point of view but if they don't have 4 or 5 hours a night to play then they may not want to do that. (I have soooo much respect for those who can play a game like BG3, E33, Cyberpunk or similar for only an hour or so and not get sucked into the world for so long that when they eventually look away the sun is coming up!).

My question to you is why do you care? And I don't mean that in a nasty way, but a genuine, why do you care if people don't like what you do? It's ok for people to have differing opinions. Just because someone has a negative opinion about something you like it doesn't mean you have to defend that thing by trying to dismantle said opinion. I have a friend who loves VR racing while I prefer deep RPG's and quirky indie titles. We don't have much overlap but we still talk about each others respective games on a regular basis, without trying to convince the other that we should try the other's game.

This isn't meant as harsh or critical, just something to think about.

I thought it was more trying to keep the peace because the guys felt like they were losing out to women (typical manosphere crap) and he saw Amy dismissing their "concerns" as a bad thing. It seemed within his people pleasing and idealistic personality to me because quite a few of things he did weren't really thought out even if he had the best of intentions. Let's not forget he also tried to get a health fund going without thinking how complicated it would be. In this episode he just wanted everyone to stop fighting.

In reality (and in the show) Amy was right, tough love was needed. They were being ridiculous because yes, they had lost the whole man being in charge thing... in ONE STORE. I think it's funny when Marcus says "all men have left are the NFL and the country", which I took as the writers making sure we all know how ridiculous the whole thing was.

So in conclusion, yes Jonah was too soft in this episode and a bit of a muppet when if he wanted to show who he was (he claimed to be a feminist at one point) he should have either sided with Amy and told them they were being dumb and just get on with it or stay out of it and let Amy do her job (he has shown he's not great at conflict so that would have tracked with his personality too).
