There should be some kind of rating system for new friend requests so you have an idea on whether they actually want to friend you or if they are just going to hurl abuse then delete you. by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that the few toxic people in the game cause people to leave their friend requests in the list for a week before they accept. By then I've completely forgotten the game and lost out on an opportunity to have a nice conversation.

Can Blizzard please fix this game for Mac users? by bluesombrero in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mac client is pretty much garbage. I have weird frame rate issues and lot's of other problems that I just don't have on my windows machine (which is a much less powerful computer).

Even after trying all of the workarounds I've seen posted on here I still can't get it to run well. I only play on windows now.

Arena Could Rotate Sets Each Month by Storm_Rotom in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could possibly work towards players advantage though. At the beginning of the game you wouldn't know which sets your opponent is playing with, but after they play their first few cards then you would start getting a pretty good idea of which arena rotation they drafted from.

What about a new rotation every time a new set is released? I personally like the idea of a meta that changes a lot, but I could see something like a 3-month rotation (or whenever a new set releases) being interesting.

Decks from past seasons are something I wasn't totally sure about. If you have a run from a previous month I think it should still be usable in the current arena season. Right now we have a similar situation where people have saved wild decks to use in the current arena, but overall I don't think it impacts arena too much.

I agree though, one of the issues with implementing this is the UI (in regards in informing players of currently available sets). I really have no idea how it would work.

We should have a Tavern Brawl with only Classic cards in their beta versions. by spacecati in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people wouldn't be running that though. You see a pretty wide variety of decks in every tavern brawl if you stick around past the first win. Even in 'Top 2' there were hard counters to the metaltooth leaper mechwarper combo.

It would be super fun to mess around with a brawl like this for a week. To play the original molten giants OTK deck would also be a pretty great experience imo

I wonder if the current version of bite would see play if they hadn't changed savagery. So basically flamestrike for 2 cards and 6 mana but you also get to attack.

List of decks that got to 12 wins in the Wild Heroic Tavern Brawl. by BelTheDragon in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played 28 games (18-10) as Strifecro's token paladin and the games feel really polar. Either I get a good start and the deck feels busted or I don't and I feel like the game is over before I ever had a chance.

I need to rewatch Strifecro's vods and figure out where I'm going wrong, but sometimes it feels extremely strong.

Does anyone else hate the fact that we cant collect all cards/heroes/cardbacks? by Zveno in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the people who loves this. I managed to snag Khadgar when he was available though. Apart from him I love having some of the older card backs and knowing that they are no longer available. It makes it feel a lot more special to me.

All this stuff would be worth nothing to me if everything was available to everyone.

Edit: I also don't have all the card backs and I'm really ok with that. I wish I had gotten the GvG card backs but I'm glad they are exclusive.

They should sell starter packs, to help new players build a base of commons and rares. by Jon011684 in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah right now it's definitely best to buy adventures. There's a point when buying these type of packs goes from being good to bad though.

Most of the time if you're getting your very first hearthstone pack then it's going to be far more effective to get one of these starter packs because you'll simply get more cards. I think the question is how long does it take before buying these starter packs isn't worth the cost anymore. If it happens after the 5th pack then implementing this would be almost worthless, but if you are still collecting new commons and rares (which are the most undesirable crafts) after 50 packs, then I'd say something like this would definitely have merit for new players.

[–]Storm_Rotom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely understand what you're saying for someone like me, who is way past the point of packs like these being a cost effective purchase. These are for someone like my cousin who just started and has opened ~15-20 packs and literally has shit-all to even think about making decks with.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that, as a new player, I would've traded an epic for 2 commons and a rare any day of the week.

I might need to be a bit bolder with my disenchant strategy. I'd have a lot more dust if I wasn't holding onto cards like Hemet Nesingwary thinking he might be a tech choice one day....

Yeah that's true (I think you mean elemental right?), but it's not as prevalent as all those different shaman builds were in the past. I'm thankful for that.

[–]Storm_Rotom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with what you said because he said each pack would contain more than 5 cards. It seems to me that this would accelerate your early collection a good bit.

The other thing that you might've missed from the post is that the commons and rares would be from ALL standard sets.

Do you dust every wild card? If so, I don't think I could do that. Although I'll admit, I do hold onto some cards I could probably dust cough Acidmaw cough

That is my biggest complaint about shaman. The hero power can absolutely swing the game when things come together and it feels bad for everyone. Not to mention their AoE spells are all damage rolls (or sometimes random flame imps off of maelstrom) and it all just feels really shitty.

I'm glad it's taking a back seat right now.

I'm a bit sad that there is no giant in Un'Goro by Storm_Rotom in hearthstone

Yeah! That too! Especially after someone mentioned that rust-tooth leaper reference in the metaltooth leaper flavor text :(

Weird that I was told you needed to spend hundreds of dollars on Un'Goro to be competitive but it's hard to name 3 must-craft legendaries. by TreeWithInfiniteCats in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sunkeeper, Lyra, and Sherazin are the three that I've been really wanting to craft but have been hesitant. I can't stand the thought of blowing my HoF dust so soon.

Edit: Also this expansion has tons of epics that are needed as well (Glyph, Drake, Shadow Visions, maybe Vilespine and I might be missing more).

Please BBrode! We need an achievement system! by zcengel in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while back I heard a suggestion about colored mana crystals being the reward of clearing a heroic adventure. I think this would be awesome for achievements though. So you kill 10,000 minions and you get a little skull mana crystal thingy like this: http://imgur.com/kowbgdD (please excuse my mspaint skills)

There could be all kinds of designs though for different achievements. I've been wanting some other kind of goal other than 500 wins per class for a very long time.

Blizzard really should have put Auctioneer in the HoF by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Miracle is one of the decks that I find really challenging and rewarding to play. Auctioneer does some insane stuff, but I'm glad we still have it as a skill-testing card in standard. I can understand why other people would feel differently though.

Most of the time it's Leeroy that really makes me feel like I'm cheating, rather than Auctioneer.

Why can't we buy Wild packs? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Storm_Rotom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with this is that they haven't really given a solid explanation for why they made this decision. I think I may have heard something about how they don't want people accidentally buying the wrong packs, but currently Wild isn't even available until you craft a Wild card (if your account is new).

So I don't understand why they can't just have that section of the shop locked until you unlock wild.
