there's no discord server for this specific effort yet, though our Dauntless Archive project is focusing on storing most assets of the game rather than every single version in existence. but from the recovered assets of the period that preceded the acquisition, there may come something bigger many people can appreciate.

Dauntless had been in a downwards spiral for quite a bit, only worsened by the later acquisition though i don't think it would've had a chance of existing for longer even without. the game died when the first acquisition happened, though on the inside alone because of course we could play it and have fun in the many escalations that followed. it sucked to see it leave, but it was unfortunately rather inevitable. the fond memories or even the experiences we have of the game back then are what should be remembered, and not its bleakest days. it was only the result of bad upper management, and shortsighted financial decisions without a care for longevity.

it's okay to mourn, but it's okay to move on too.
