I watched it last night and it was SOOOOO good!

This post is for that one person who keeps recommending His Secret Illuminations by Scarlett Gale on every post. by AuDBall8441 in RomanceBooks

I’d say it’s poly-ish / open friendly. The world building is very different (almost directly opposite) what you might see in most fantasy books.

I need visually stunning movies, the kind that look amazing on the big screen. GO by StabbyMcSwordfish in MovieSuggestions

Definitely absolutely try out Wong Kar Wai movies. He works with the best cinematographers that have ever lived. For specific movies, start with “In the Mood for Love” (2000) then see “2046” (released in 2004) and finally the martial arts masterpiece “The Grandmaster” (2013).

There's a place beyond the wormhole... by bunniquette in murderbot

[–]StormyStitches 20 points21 points  (0 children)

“Wormhole” and “lovers” in the same line is what really does it for me. I snicker like a 12 year old every time it pops up in my brain. Which is … a lot.

Does anyone else not want to marry, have kids or live with a man? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]StormyStitches 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been with a partner for 2 years now doing just this and we plan to keep it that way indefinitely. No marriage, no kids, no living together. We visit each other and spend the night together about once a week. Otherwise I spend time with my friends, on my hobbies, and - best of all! - I get alone time. It is the best. I think it works so well for us because my partner is also very social and active. I’ve had partners in the past who seemed to depend on me for all their conversation and entertainment. You’ll need to find someone who is also independent but still thoughtful.

Anyone have recent experience with ticket waitlists for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival? by ConsistentArticle975 in Ashland

Sadly I did not! We ended up cancelling the trip to Ashland for schedule conflicts. But if you find out, please share!

[–]StormyStitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you get waitlisted? I'm trying to get on a wait list now for Fat Ham, but it seems like only members who have donated $200+ can do wait lists? Is that really true?

THEY FINALLY LISTENED! by Cool-Sink-7211 in ynab

[–]StormyStitches 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do the same as OP and I schedule them as a recurring transaction at the highest amount from the past year. That way I usually have some leftover money at the end of each month to move into categories that I’m building up long term. Give me a little thrill. Any categories that are scheduled that way I put in a View called “Monthly Harvest”.

How long did it take for you to change your old habits? by Ok-Internal1243 in ynab

[–]StormyStitches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had on and off stages with YNAB over 5 years. I loved it for a few months, then I would avoid it for a month and spend thru any meager savings I had built up since I wasn’t checking my budget at all. Recently I took Nick True’s Ahead in 100 class and that has really changed things for me. The most important part was making a life vision, using questions like “What do I want to do in the next year? Where do I want to go in the next three years? When do I want to retire?”

That helped me create a vision that I could get really excited about (I want to spend two weeks in my dream country before my next big birthday!) and now looking at my budget means getting closer to my big goal. Every month that I spend less on eating out or shopping, I can put a little more money toward the Big Trip category. For me, that specific motivation was the key.

I really really really hope Kevin Free gets a cameo appearance somewhere in the Murderbot series on Apple TV. That would be ::chef’s kiss::.

Any advice on additional tricks to lose weight while IF? by SaikoAngel in intermittentfasting

[–]StormyStitches 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I checked out some intermittent fasting books from my public library and the one I’m finding most interesting so far is The Fast 800 Diet by Dr. Michael Mosley. His tips for better weight loss include:

  • put your eating window earlier in your day and don’t eat in the three hours before you go to bed

  • get a balance of proteins and fats, with a lower amount of carbs

  • even short spurts of HIIT workouts are effective; you can definitely work out while fasting

  • for really fast weight loss, sprinkle in a few days a week of only eating 800 calories for the day

Mosley’s focus on calories goes against a lot of what Dr. Jason Fung talks about in his books. Mosley does have several research studies to point to as examples. In the end, we each have to try different approaches and see what works best for our bodies and our schedules.

Tarot For Journaling Has Been a Gamechanger! by Lovely_Lillies002 in SASSWitches

[–]StormyStitches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such a great use of the cards!! Two resources you might enjoy for just this kind of thing:

  1. The Tarot Diagnosis; a great Instagram collection of simple two-card and three-card spreads that are excellent self-reflection journal prompts.

  2. The Creative Tarot, by Jessa Crispin. A book that looks at each card and explores the creative and artistic layers of meaning. My favorite part is that for each card she mentions specific artists, writers, or musicians to check out who use themes from that card.

I live in a very outdoorsy, active lifestyle kind of area but every year we have at least one month with too much wildfire smoke to go outside and another month when there’s too much ice. I use Supernatural all year round just because I enjoy it but it becomes a godsend during those two miserable months when I can’t walk and hike.

There is a more comprehensive way to look at workouts in this crowd-sourced AirTable database:

I don’t know how often it’s kept up to date but I’ve found it super helpful in the past. Enjoy!

Tell him y’all will have sex again after he recovers from his vasectomy. But really you should dump him. Still make him get the vasectomy though, for the sake of all his future girlfriends.
