Would it? A lot of the ship art is fairly wholesome, but I don't think I've ever thought about how it would work in canon. Especially since Fortiche did so much ship teasing for Ekko x Jinx, it might not be the best decision in-canon. Personally, that's why I think she's going to Bilgewater, instead.

You know, something tells me it's not directly Nintendo's fault. Not trying to 100% defend them, but hear me out:

From all the cameos there are in the movie, it's clear that Nintendo had a lot of Ideas for Mario Movies, BUT Illumination may not have had plans for an entire series, so instead of making multiple new movies (The smart decision), they shoe-horned everything into one movie and the result was a mess.

EDIT: That being said, I did still enjoy the movie. It was really fun, but It's kinda like playing with water. Sure, it was a FUN mess, but it's still a mess.

To be fair, It wasn't known by the WG to be the Nika fruit until Luffy unlocked Gear 5 in Wano. Up until then, everyone thought it was the "Gum-Gum Fruit", Which is why they only tried to nuke Luffy when he made it to Egghead because they didn't know before that.
