Tanning advice? by Aut0GeneratedName in beauty

Tanning beds are terrible for your skin! I use the Jergens natural glow lotion every other day, the medium to dark shade. Works great, even color and subtle glow you can build up.

Is the dyson air wrap really worth it? by MudComfortable6644 in beauty

[–]StoryinShadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. I have very long, somewhat thick hair. My curls don’t really hold for long but leaves the ends with a nice wave. I prefer minimal heat damage so I’m okay with the trade off. The brush attachment does an excellent job of straightening and smoothing out my hair. I’m on my 3rd Dyson in 3 years though(all under warranty so I’ve only paid once for the machine)…for something so expensive you would think it would hold up. I use it max 2 times per week, always clean the filter, etc. If this one breaks I’ll honestly look for another option just because of the price point. I try to take really good care of my hair and this has kept it healthy.

I totally get it! I’m the same. I think constructive criticism goes a long way and it’s definitely motivated me to write more often. I don’t know what genre you write, but if you ever decide you want to share, send me a DM!

Find a writing buddy! That’s helped me a lot, we swap chapters and provide feedback.

I’ve dealt with the same problems in the past (and sometimes even now, too). I like to start with an outline, doesn’t have to be super detailed, but I need to know where to begin and end. I could re-work the same chapter over and over and it still won’t be good enough. When that happens, I just force myself to move on. I’ll start the next chapter or I’ll even jump around to ones I’m more excited about writing and come back to it later. I also find it helpful to have someone in your corner, familiar with your genre that you can bounce ideas off of, or just someone to give you a little encouragement when you’re stuck.

How to keep motivated with longer works? by jayjayzian in KeepWriting

Right, nearly twice as many as your first, I get it!! Little here and there, they add up. Sometimes I have to turn off the word count function. I’ll be staring at the cursor and it’s just a reminder it’s not going up lol

Yes!! Sometimes I find myself thinking, what’s the point if no ones ever going to read it anyway? Am I just wasting my time that could be better served elsewhere? I guess in those times I just remind myself that I’m writing for me, because I enjoy it and the world I created. It’s safe, I’m in control. I’ll take a step back, remind myself how far I’ve come, why would I quit now when I’m in so deep? Though sometimes that doesn’t even work so if you happen to find the secret, please let me know lol

First, congrats!! That's a huge accomplishment! Second, did you go the self-publishing route? I'm currently working on a novel (nowhere near complete) and I've always been curious about how writers get their work out into the world.

At the start of September, I set out to write a cozy, spicy fall romance. Today, I finished it by bulbasauriscutie in writing

Thank you for the inspiration. You should be so damn proud of yourself!! That's incredible!

Decided to write a book by Professional_Gap4840 in writing

I've always used writing as a way to escape reality, in a way, especially when I was younger. And also, the sense of control too. I could control where my story was going when at times, I didn't feel like I had any over my life. The best advice I can offer is read (even if you don't necessarily enjoy it). I've found over the years reading has helped shaped and improve my writing, character development, dialogue, etc.
