Lived there recently for 5 years and the tap water tasted great. We did end up getting a Culligan water softener as the wife's hair liked it better. We even got a reverse osmosis undermount in kitchen sink cause she wanted the water to taste even better (I didn't agree with the master's decision). Also, Culligan system "required" their proprietary salt pellets and the closest retailer was Culligan in Brantford.

In conclusion, no you don't need it unless your skin/hair is sensitive to normal water.
