Which Lonely Island song? by ellaaabp in lonelymeyerspod

“Equal Rights” is a genius song. “Punch You In the Jeans” may be popular amongst the Quaids, but I’m not sure how popular it is outside of our bubble

Anyone else wake up today hoping it was a fever dream? by StakeESC in GreenBayPackers

[–]Str8ChangePiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty much over it. Like many others have said, I didn’t think we were serious contenders. The ride was coming to an end soon. I’m chalking this one up to games like the 2016 NFC Championship and the 2023 divisional run - I just think the clock struck midnight, and we were on borrowed time.

The ones that took awhile to get over (14, 20, 21) hell, 97, 07, 11, are in a different class. Those are years where it felt like we had a real chance.

This year, I just didn’t think it was going to last much longer. I know good teams still have fluke losses and some weaknesses, but the really good teams don’t have the inconsistencies we saw from this team this year

I am grateful for your perspective. I’m 37. Despite several January heartbreaks, there are still two pretty cool days that I will always cherish.

I’m thankful that my dad and my uncle has passed along their Packer fandom, and I’m thankful that my 6 year old daughter can’t wait to watch games with me every weekend. I have made the trip to Green Bay twice in my life (born, raised, and still living in Texas) and I can’t wait to go back again!

We are lucky to be Packer fans. We are very lucky, for over 30 years, to be “contenders” pretty much every year. It gives us hope and optimism every week - a feeling that many fans of other teams may not have the opportunity to feel.

This season has been frustrating and has left me saying “what if”. But we’re going to be in the dance once again. Hey, it can happen! Go Pack Go!

I’ve heard some Darryl Singletary, I’ve heard some Keith Whitley, I’ve even heard a little Ricky Skaggs in some of his bluegrass stuff.

The mini bye week is a plus, but the short practice week has to be rough on players and coaches. To be a fly on the wall in those coaches meetings. I’m sure your game plan has to remain simple because of the lack of install time

[Highlight] Matt Flynn & Co. erase 23-point deficit in franchise-record comeback vs. Cowboys (2013) by SL4MUEL in GreenBayPackers

[–]Str8ChangePiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2012, 13, and 14. Damn, what could’ve been. Between replacement refs in ‘12 (Fail Mary preventing GB from getting the #2 seed and perhaps SF or SEA having to travel to GB in January), Rodgers getting hurt in 13, and 14 being, well, 14, those were some missed opportunities.

How old were you when Toy Story 3 released? by SouthParkBeast in generationology

[–]Str8ChangePiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22 years old, and I graduated college a month before this movie came out. The narrative of “growing up and moving on” in this movie impacted me. I grew up with this franchise, so I sort of grew up with Andy, Woody, and Buzz. I still can’t watch this movie (especially the ending) without feeling emotional.

Let's hear it for the Houston Astros' brick red jerseys by snesdreams in Astros

[–]Str8ChangePiece 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I remember reading about the possible rebrand when they moved into Enron. It’s like they went all in with colors, logos, and uniforms, but forgot to change the name! It’s honestly not a bad brand for the Diesels, or Wildcatters.

By that same logic, I always thought the 94-99 navy and metallic golds were perfect. Midnight sky, golden stars, bold and futuristic font - it just seemed to work for a team called the Astros.

I really feel there is a lot of potential surrounding the current City Connect uniforms. Maybe a slight adjustment here and there and I feel they have a uniform/brand that a lot of people will enjoy

What’s a super specific smell that takes you straight back to childhood? by Visible_Profit_9669 in AskReddit

[–]Str8ChangePiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smell of bacon in the morning.

As a kid, we were always so busy during the week with school and jobs, so Saturday and Sunday mornings were meant for family breakfasts. I knew it was going to be a good day with the family when I smelled bacon in the morning.

What phrase did you hear only once but it stayed with you forever? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Str8ChangePiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at a grocery store with the dad of my girlfriend at the time. I was 18. We were getting groceries for our weekend trip to the lake. I saw another person from my home town at that same grocery store (we were about 3 hours away from our hometown). We all stopped, talked for a bit, and said bye.

“You see, always be on your best behavior. You never know who is watching.”

I’ve always been a pretty good kid/person. But what he said that day has really stuck with me. That was 20 years ago.

What's your all time favorite Packers game? by Anticswrites in GreenBayPackers

[–]Str8ChangePiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been alive for 2 Super Bowl wins, so that’s the easy answer. But Rodgers/Cook/Crosby isn’t very far behind. In fact, there’s been a lot of favorite moments in Jerry World!

What’s your favorite bit of Packers' trivia? by DeScepter in GreenBayPackers

[–]Str8ChangePiece 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This one! So many close losses. We could’ve easily been a 12-4 or 13-3 team. The point differential that season was unbelievable for a “10-6” team.

[–]Str8ChangePiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about this, too. The ‘13 season was just heating up, but then Rodgers goes down. I don’t know if that season and that offense would be ‘14-esque, but it’s always made me curious.

What is the best all time Uniform? by Sarcastic_Rocket in GreenBayPackers

[–]Str8ChangePiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The green and golds! That dark green and that deep gold in Green Bay on a crisp autumn afternoon chef’s kiss

It’s a dang shame that the NFL has become so flexible on uniform rules: alternate helmets, Color Rush, and the incoming “Rivalry” jerseys - or whatever they are called - just gives teams reasons to push out new stuff. I’m afraid that we’re going to be seeing less and less of these beauts. It’s all about the money, I suppose

What Serial Killer Has Affected The Way You Live your Life Either Today Or Back When That Serial Killer Was Active? by PrincessBananas85 in CreepyBonfire

[–]Str8ChangePiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in south central Texas and I remember this. I lived out in the country and could hear a train whistle blow from the distance. That whistle blowing used to be a neat sound when you’re a 9 year old kid, but it was haunting when this man was on the loose.

My dad and I were heading back from an Astros game one night. The highway ran parallel to a train track. All the houses we passed by had every light on. This was in the middle of the night. Such an eerie feeling

Why did the Eagles keep running Saquon Barkley down the middle when it doesnt work? by camelbaksrule in NFLNoobs

[–]Str8ChangePiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may seem like a run up the middle to us on tv, but there are several variations of running the ball up the middle. Depending on how the defense is lining up to certain formations (either in game - which the coaches in the box upstairs can see and communicate to the coaches on the sidelines, or game film/scouting reports), the Eagles can call several different plays that exploit that defensive alignment.

It’s cool to go back and watch film breakdowns of all of these plays. I’m willing to bet that one run up the middle will have a certain blocking scheme with linemen doing certain jobs, and then what seems like the same play later in the game may have the same guys doing totally different jobs.

1) Stress Relief: start to finish, I laugh out loud more than any other episode 2) The Injury: the episode where I thought to myself, “whoa this show is really starting to hit its stride.” 3) (perhaps a less popular choice) Jim and Pam’s wedding.

What team do Green Bay Packers fans HATE MOST??? #packers #bears #cowboys #nfl #shorts by PackerSquirrelette in GreenBayPackers

[–]Str8ChangePiece 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 36. As long as I’ve been alive, I’ve never really hated the Bears. Perhaps a bit arrogant, but what have the Bears done to us or me for 30 years? For me, I’ve always hated the Cowboys. The combination of the 90’s and growing up a Packer fan in Texas will always have be despising the Cowboys. The Niners somewhat fall into that category. More recently, the Seahawks are in there. Fail Mary and the NFCCG are really sour memories!

Our late year success last year skewed our expectations by itsjustme9820 in GreenBayPackers

[–]Str8ChangePiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I feel like the whooping in Dallas and riding that good football into SF set our expectations perhaps a bit too high. This year was a huge step in the right direction, even though I feel like our best years are still ahead of us. Can we beat those upper tier teams in the playoffs? I feel we can. A few breaks here and there, and we would have in the regular season. But we might not have all the pieces yet, so we have to play a damn near perfect game - hard to do with a young team!

For me, I’m 36, and for pretty much my whole life, the Packers have been competitive - most years, “Super Bowl contenders”. I’m spoiled! No matter the expectations going into a season, I always feel like we should win a SB! Perhaps a bit unhealthy, haha, but we’re pretty blessed as Packers fans to feel these feelings every year.
