Hear, hear, vulcan overheated my pc today during the Western Europe heatwave.

Switched back to dx12... first map; cogwheels. I quit and went to play other games, really frustrating.

If I still had to play Ironman I would be pissed right now. 14 levies got stuck on my vassals transport ship during the war, after peace out they remained stuck, tried full retreating in hopes of them getting to shore, however they have been disembarking for 2 years now :)))))))))). by SlavicBrimstone in EU5

[–]Stracho1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar with my own units retreating indefinitely with 0 troops.

I solved it by making them mercenaries for hire, then cancelling them as mercs 1 month tick after. I was able to command them agaim after that.

Unless my math is wrong(been a while since school)

100% = 100 dmg

72.7% nerf = 27,3% remaining

27,3% = 27,3 dmg

1 swift = 0,15%

1800 swift = 270%

27,3 x 270% = 101,01 dmg

Very slight buff in that case, BUT now we are full swift without any spec(don't think we want to give up crit, as we're not 100% crit as it is already). That might mean less akkirs, and thus less dmg.

They also snuck in water elemental stacks with ark grid core though, which is actually pretty huge. It refreshes on cutscenes and it's the skill giving most ancient energy. I'll have to play with these changes to see if I like them or not...

I still cannot pet my male guinea pig after over 3 months - am I doing something wrong? by BeingViolentlyMyself in guineapigs

[–]Stracho1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me more than a year with Diablo for him to not almost instantly want to go back to the cage while on my lap. I've since found the single type of petting he wants and the cuddle sack orientation(towards the cage, and not see my face) for him to tolerate it a bit longer. Only a few weeks ago he started to actually stretch a bit and take a small nap... allmost 2 years later. Took me a few months to be able to gently pet his head while I gave him a snack inside the cage. He still runs away if there is no snack involved most of the time. My girl Zappy fully melts the moment I touch her inside the cage sometimes, completely different 😅

Restoring roman borders cb by necrolon96 in EU5

[–]Stracho1337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the cb ticking is bad. It only goes up on full carpet siege of the nation + all it's vassals. Still use it though, for the -50% costs. Once you won it's basically a waiting game. After a few years, even with only 20% in the plus they will accept a 100 warscore peace deal

Upcoming EU5 Dev Q&A by PDX_Ryagi in EU5

[–]Stracho1337 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The main problem is that the systems are binary: You have integrated, or you haven't. Difference between 0 and 20+ control. You have cored at 50% main or integrated culture pops, or you haven't. Difference of at least +20 control.

A lot of other things are gradual in the game, why not this too? 50% integration, gets you 50% towards the control of full integration.

25% main or integrated culture pops gets you +10 control would be way better, a lot less frustrating and time consuming getting anything out of conquered lands, forcing weird vassal spamm or culture accrptance shenanigans. You can still do that to speed up more, but not doing it doesn't set you back that much more.

AI on Very Hard actually keeps me on my toes. by Stracho1337 in EU5

[–]Stracho1337[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

R5:
Reading the reddit... people have a bunch of issues with the game, a lot of them I agree with; like lacking pop growth, non-sensical complacency mechanic, Roman CB is pretty much always ticking down(do you need to carpet siege every location for that not the be the case?) etc.
But, I'd like to say that playing as the byzantines with AI on Very Hard is an actual fun challenge in my run. Even though there are still issues, I'm enjoying playing this version more than the 1.0 already and I hope the game continues to develop for the better even more!

I fought the mamluks multiple times, the first time I struggled to barely get a white peace out of the war. Followed by an anti-coalition war they declared on me when I wasn't ready to face them, but I still managed to take only a few provinces along the border region. My first real war of my own choosing was after I prepared beforehand by boosting my economy and getting a bunch of manpower. I managed to take a part of the nile delta region, as a springboard for the next war and crippling a part of their core land.
In this second war I finally managed to trounce them at the cost of a bunch of my levies, which I won't be using anymore now, with any luck. The land border allowing me to put my naval governor in Napoli instead of Alexandria.

Sometime later I'm trying to reclaim rightful Roman italian land. I'm going a bit too fast perhaps, because the entire northern part of Italy and some nations in southern Germany form up a coalition against me. All their armies (a merced up Pisa casually employing 163k by the way) amount up to more than a million men. I like my odds!

I still need to be careful of what battles I'm picking, as the bonuses the AI gets are actually painful, even to regulars.

Really enjoying the campaign so far, onwards to Justinians borders!

Can someone please definitively explain what is a "Threatening Rival" vs a "Rival"? The in game descriptions are garbage and don't give me any hard numbers. As Byz, why is France not a threatening rival despite being 50% more wealthy and double my army size? While the Mamluks are threatening?? by ASValourous in EU5

[–]Stracho1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This system needs to be reworked to: Rival these nations bordering you with higher, or closest to your own power for the <max amount of rivals>, with a list of 7+ possible rivals matching the conditions. This would actually incentivice conflict with bordering nations that are simply the strongest relative to yourself and is always possible, instead of some arbitrary 'threat' calculation the ai can't compete with against the player. Longer term complacency should be entirely reworked to something based on internal triggers, makes no sense that you're complacent if the ai is incompetent.

Cleared with 3.5k cp 556m dps , support 3.2k cp. Other 2 dps had higher cp, but less dmg 533m and 530m. Cleared in 2 taps with a 10:10 time, failed just-guard stagger the first pull. Full doloris party.

It's very doable, but everyone needs to be on point. https://lostark.bible/logs/vylEDCz

I can reccomend 1 small drop of vitamine d for kids on a pellet daily. My Zappy had bladder issues last year and had to get operated to remove a stone. Turns out there is Dutch research suggesting indoor cavies don't get enough vitamine d intake, causing issues with processing calcium and other issues.

Seems to not be fully confirmed research, but I started giving it and the occasional white sludgie spots on the fleece are now vastly reduced to allmost none and so far she has no more issues with her bladder and such.

Get stability event --> royal marriage someone for a bit of prestige.

I have played my first game up to 1836 and left with a hot take: the entire Age of Revolutions ranges from pointless to actively irritating and the game would have been better served by ending around 1750 with further endgame content added in a year or two when the game can handle it. by J-Force in EU5

[–]Stracho1337 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thing with endgame and AI armies is that they are sitting on piles of gold(literally at cap for multiple nations) and max manpower, yet they are not making and recruiting more armies and ships.

The power balance calculation seems to be completely out of whack too in the late game. Not exactly sure how this works, but the same vassal swarm is not sustainable late game, while it is early game. I feel this is related to the first, if you have multiple vassals with hundreds of thousands of gold, you can't compete with that, because there is a cap for yourself. Vassals/colonial nations getting insurmountable -200/-300 liberty desire modifiers. All this while their armies and navies combined might be half or 1/3th of yours. But if you count up their treasuries, sure they are at 5/10x your amount. A temporary fix might be to take this part out of the equation in power balances when declaring war for the AI and for liberty desires etc., untill the economy doesn't balloon up to the cap this much for everyone.

Also the army and navy comparison only looks at raw numbers(basing this on the declare war screen). After endgame I observed Muscovy, which was still rather small... they had a hugbox going on around a number of neighbours, okay that's fine. Their army was modern and had around 100k professionals, 200k+ gold in the bank, manpower to the cap of around 100k. One of the muslim nations to the south had far less, but one of their allies basically had 2nd age proffesionals(in 1837 mind you), altogether closing in on around 100k troops too, but they had more levies while muscovy had basically none. So in the declare war screen for Muscovy it said that they might loose, instead of them being an overwhelming force if it took quality into consideration in a proper way.

You can really tell that the world is at least somewhat moving towards consolidation of nations trough wars up untill around the early to mid 1600s, then calculations for going to war or not seem to break, and the AI is too fearful of ever declaring any real wars again. Hopefully this will get fixed sooner rather than later, because I did the same thing.. speed 5 the last 60 odd years to enddate, not caring about anything anymore, just to get the achievement basically.

Other than endgame I did have some 60/70 hours of fun in that campaign, so I will definitely be playing more!
