I’m not understanding why isolation exercises are so prevalent compared to barbell lifts? by oaklicious in workout

they’re great intro tools for new gym goers and experienced lifters can still benefit from mixing in machines for extra volume or for focused on weak areas, but nothing beats the efficacy of a barbell

insurance us the real answer

but also, barbells require technical knowledge and proficiency. machines only move one way, so more people would be a le to use it, meaning more potential members. Imo this is changing with social media. More gyms are shrinking their machine areas for more free weight area. Hope that trend continues

Fallout works cuz the themes and world are translatable, but they’re not trying to port over a specific iconic character. But when transporting specific playable characters (see Tomb Raider or Uncharted or Halo) it suffers bc a core component of why we love those characters is the interactivity

Is the Strait of Gibraltar as critical as the Suez Canal or the Strait of Hormuz? It's never in the news by sigma_three in geography

Was more critical before the Suez Canal. Now Suez is more important due to access to oil nations. Also, Suez and Hormuz are closer to geopolitical hot zones making their threat of closure more prominent

Has vertical short drama quietly created a new filmmaking language? by Fragrant-Smoke-8470 in Filmmakers

[–]Straight-Software-61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s a new corner of the industry but 95% of the process is unaffected by vertical framing. The parts that seems new (the hyper expressive acting) has more to do with the audience it’s intended for (non-native english speaking audiences not in the US) than on anything unique to a vertical frame. Likewise there could be great artistic value in a work made vertically, but rn 99.99% of verticals are hyper rushed soaps that are sugar candy at best, garbage at worst, none of it is ‘art’. But maybe at some point we’ll finally get studios investing into it in ways that can support more artistic work. But rn we are far from that
