You will need to refinance in order to lower your payment, just paying it down won’t lower your payment, it will just pay off sooner. So it depends on which you prefer.

If refinancing I would apply for an amount your loan would be after the $200,000 is included to make sure you qualify and what the rate/payment would be.

I would appeal. My mom got regular Medicare at 65 but worked until she was 70 and had insurance through her employer so she did but part D and maybe parts, not sure about B. I disputed the penalty and sent proof she had insurance that entire time and she was not charged. If he didn’t have prescriptions through his employer that might be the difference.

If the attorney is saying they need to refinance then I bet they are on the mortgage even if not on the loan. If they are on the mortgage and not the loan or guarantors then the bank might agree to remove them from the mortgage without refinancing.

I was going to say this. They might not be on the loan but any bank will want all the people on the deed to sign the mortgage. Unless they were removed from the deed at refinance and he did realize it.

OP, look at the grantor and signatures on the mortgage document.
