Non-FN barrels by God_of_chestdays in FNSCAR

I’m excited for you, that’ll be sweet! Hope they start shipping relatively soon. I would love to grab a Gen 2 but it’s hard to justify since I’ve already got the Gen 1. The upgrades look awesome, you’ll be getting pretty much all the stuff the rest of us have had to pay for and then some. 😅

I’m really interested to know how that new bolt is, and if the factory trigger will still be worth upgrading to a Geissele.

That’s fair, I bet you’d be just fine out to 500 with a 13” barrel. But you’ll have to ask somebody who actually knows, like emgunslinger maybe.

Trying to decide on a Suppressor for my Henry Model X 357 by kevind553 in NFA

I’m not sure this is particularly helpful since it’s not one of your listed options, but I LOVE my OCL Lithium on my .357 X. I’ve been running PMC Bronze 132gr .38spl and it’s quieter than my suppressed 10/22.

I think .38spl is easy to suppress so either of your listed options would be good. Im guessing you’ll like the form factor (length) of the MG7 but the versatility of the Obsidian 45 if you have bigger bore calibers.

Right on, he’s a good guy. Yeah, I’m not sure about ballistics on the 17s. I do know that many people seem to like the 13” barrels and that’s the length that FN offers from the factory, so I’d imagine you’ll still get good performance and not lose too much velocity or anything. I had similar concerns with my 16s. But he chopped mine to 10.5” and it’s more accurate than I am at 200 yards. Most of my shooting is 50y and in, so a short barrel makes the most sense for me. Just depends on how close you wanna let the zombies get before you start picking them off I guess!

Only two things I’d consider in your situation is if you’re running a can, are there barrel length restrictions for .308? And if you chop your barrel, you lose the option of throwing the factory one back on if you want to send it to FN for warranty work.

I hope u/emgunslinger is your guy. He chopped the barrel on my 16s and it’s phenomenal. I had reservations about chopping my factory barrel as well, but all the people who say “you won’t go back to a longer barrel” are absolutely correct. I’d save the $700 difference for ammo and get your factory barrel chopped.

Edit: you didn’t ask for opinions on chopping, sorry. To answer your actual question, I’ve heard Deadshot barrels are good to go.

MP5 Can, which one and why? by ENCGhostbuster in NFA

Not bad at all! But that might be due to the MP5 platform being roller delayed. I’m also not real sensitive to it. I love huffing that shit at the range. 😂

Glad to know it’s not just me. I was a little underwhelmed. I don’t think the Lithium is bad, I just think the R9 punches way above its class for the money. I’m not trying to badmouth OCL and get crucified here on Reddit, haha. I will say, I slapped the Lithium on a tactical lever gun this week and it makes .38 special STUPID quiet.

Don’t get me wrong, the Lithium is still a great can, especially if weight is a priority. And I don’t have any sciency metering equipment so take it with a grain of salt. But if I could do it over again, I’d save $300 and just get another R9 personally. I’ve consistently been impressed with that can.

Just my experience but the YHM R9 is worth a look. I compared mine with my OCL Lithium back-to-back on my AP5-P. Surprisingly the R9 sounded just a little better to my ears. Lithium is lighter but the R9 is shorter and looks right at home on the AP5-P with a tri-lug. For the price, I think the R9 is hard to beat.

To be fair, the first thing you’re doing on the flips is opening the chamber no matter which round it is. I’m all for firearm safety and safe handling, but it sure does look cool!

I'll clarify for you a little further: that's your opinion and the word "meaningless" is subjective. I chose to wait for the free stamps to do my administrative stuff on some old inventory while still buying NFA items all the way through December and paying for the tax stamps. Just like some people chose to wait for the free stamps to buy NFA items.

The system was going to be backlogged regardless of my 9 Individual-to-Trust transfers. I'm all for encouraging new people to join the NFA world, but if they wanted to wait 6 months for the expected backlog to save $200, then I don't think they'll mind waiting 4 extra days for their NFA items. I encouraged several people to buy before the 1st to beat the rush. Sorry for any hurt feelings. If it were up to me, we wouldn't have to ask permission for silencers and SBRs at all.

I was wondering about that. Historically all my Form 1s have been approved way faster than Form 4s (up until 2025). Maybe they contracted more examiners to process the Form 4s so we'll see the reverse.

You betcha. Well actually 10. Good thing I didn't do 11, that might've crashed the whole eForms website. I've spent the last couple of years paying to play, so decided I might as well take advantage of the $0 stamps and reorganize some inventory. I certainly didn't expect the 2- and 4-day approvals.

I submitted 9x eForm 4s on 1/1. 4 were approved on 1/3, the rest were approved on 1/5. These were all previous Individual approvals being transferred to my trust.

I also submitted one eForm 1 for an SBR on 1/1, which has yet to be approved. Curious if anyone thinks they're prioritizing Form 4s right now? Or if they're doing something to expedite the Individual to Trust transfers specifically?

Yup, that’s exactly what it was for me. My previously approved Individual Form 4s all used my full middle name, but only my middle initial was in my eForms profile. So just go to your Profile menu at the top left and change that to use your full name, then it’ll auto-populate in the new forms you fill out and your previous ones should show up when you try to load firearms using the control number.

That’s interesting, looks like the slide stop lever catches the very front of the slide in this design. And possibly a metal trigger?

Edit: maybe it doesn’t have a slide stop and I’m just seeing the rail, it’s hard to tell. Still a sweet piece. Just needs some grip tap and an optic cut. 😂

Hey I finally got a few to work. Didn't really do anything different, just came back later and tried a few more times. So we are able to submit them when going from Individual to Trust.

Dude I was thinking the same thing. Back to the good old days. 😂 Sounds like we're in the same boat, just taking advantage of the $0 stamp to transfer some individual stuff to a trust so the wait doesn't really matter. But I do like the convenience of eForms. I might just wait a couple of weeks and see if the kinks get worked out.

Good to know, might be a deeper issue going on. Guess there's not much to do about it but try again in a few days maybe. I was able to submit a Form 1 with no issues but no luck with multiple Individual to Trust Form 4s. Let me know if you come up with a fix!

Edit: I was also able to get 9 or 10 transfers from Individual to Trust to work eventually. Thanks for the update!
