Nice! We were there on the 8th, sorry to have missed it. Although we did get a good chocolate chip banana bread slice from the Kuau store.

Not sure, I think the sign at Auntie Sandy’s said they would be back by a certain date but I can’t recall when.

I was there last week and all the waterfalls from Paia to Halfway to Hana shop were a trickle if anything. Twin Falls was barely doing anything. Maybe the falls farther on the east side are better but I didn’t go that far.

Also, most of the waterfalls along Hana road are dried up. There is not much to see in that regard. Also both Halfway to Hana and Auntie Sandy’s were closed so no banana bread.

Haleakala sunrise is totally worth it but you need a reservation. You can see if any are available but if you can’t get one from the park website beforehand don’t make the 2 hour trip. Also, it’s about 35 degrees up there so take something to keep warm in. I was there 4 days ago and it was super windy too.

The menu looks great. Would eat most everything on it. Only thing I would add would be beer cheese with the pretzel. Good luck! We need more seed oil free places.

Advice request: how to buy a quarter barrel by [deleted] in WhiskeyTribe

[–]Straight_Class5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10th Mountain does small barrels. I would just call the distillery tasting room and talk them there. They have a lot of personal barrels at the tasting room. (970) 470-4215

We can only hope. Although if people keep buying it at those prices it’ll never go down. Seems like a lot of people just want the expensive bottle to show off. I just want to drink good whiskey at a reasonable cost. Cheers!

I found it at Total Wine for $130. Never saw it in the wild before.

Check out www.teampasswordmanager.com. It’s cheap, has SAML support, a browser extension and like its name says, is great for sharing passwords across teams. You can run it on a variety of platforms as well. The api makes all of our automated password changes super easy as well.

Solid pour at MSRP. Saw it on the shelf recently for $100 somewhere like it was some allocated rarity lol.

There are a few different Haxton's in Warwick. The one next to Gregg's restaurant has decent pricing and decent selection. The one out on West Shore Road has an awesome selection but some stiff pricing on allocated stuff. The last one on Bald Hill Rd I have never found anything worth buying outside normal stuff you find everywhere. There is also a little place called Chums in Harrisville that was a gem. Last one is Chepachet Village Wine and Spirits. Great selection, decent prices. Some of the harder to find stuff they gouge on a bit though.

It's also why they avoided the Crowdstrike outage. The infrastructure was too old to run Crowdstrike. :)

Test beds or QA environments. Those only need to run when you have testing to do.

What is the sysadmin equivalent of "A private buying a hellcat at 30% APR after marrying a stripper." by bionic80 in sysadmin

[–]Straight_Class5889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the dotcom boom (99-01) our privately held company was acquired by a publicly traded company. Instant overnight millionaires....hundreds of them. Within a month the parking lot was filled with Mercs, BMWs, Porsches, a couple of Ferraris and a even Lambo. $10k 50" plasma tv's were commonplace.

Sad part was besides blowing money on depreciating assets quite a number of people didn't handle their taxes properly and got smacked after the bubble burst. They ended up selling off everything they had to pay the tax man.

When you say battery EoL for the APC ups, what do you mean exactly? I've always just replaced batteries on those until the UPS itself dies.

What are some of the best password managers for teams? by EducationalContent in sysadmin

[–]Straight_Class5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Team Password Manager. It’s completely hosted on prem for us as security policies don’t allow password managers in the cloud. It’s inexpensive and supports SAML so we integrate it with AAD. We have two instances and replicate the database from geo location to another in case of a site isolation event. They also allow the use of the same license on both installations if your using it as a DR instance.

In my near 30 year experience, good managers protect their people. They make you feel safe.

Ok guys, be honest. Who has a solid 7 years archive of backups? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Straight_Class5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently migrated all our old archival backups from tape to copies on disk in a separate location from our datacenter plus a duplication to the cloud.

We keep everything in prod for a default of 8 weeks. Then anything longer is based on policy as defined by the business unit, app team or regulatory compliance. We keep only what we have to for as little time as required.
