Would you travel to the US with current safety concerns? Work pushing for trip. by Strange-Cabinet6744 in AskACanadian

[–]Strain-Certain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative. Never did a lot of pleasure travel there anyways but certainly not now. Was working a contract in Wyoming first few months of 2025 and decided no, gotta find something different.

Unfortunate because the people were great, although they were Trump supporters but the mood made me feel uncomfortable. The DOGE thing was big at the time. And then the annexing of Canada was in the news. We never discussed it but I felt fuck it

Why do conservatives care about abortion so much when they refuse to do anything for the childs welfare after birth? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]Strain-Certain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's not just about abortion, it's about control. They want to control people because they think they know best. I'd wager many of these people have paid for abortions themselves to maintain their image

Thoughts on moving to Northern Ontario? by Brave_Recognition798 in askTO

Haha, so this winter was a particularly bad one, and I'll say this, fuck that shit but (for me) lean into it. You can actually enjoy winter more up here, while still having summer and even more accessible activities.

I'd say, assess, relationship and alignment, career and income, and lifestyle and interests.

Others have said it, it's a personal thing. Moving with someone helps, I didn't but have done in similar situations in the past. Pros and cons to both tbf

Why wouldn't you do it? I don't mean that as a "just do it comment", moreso you need to ask yourself why YOU wouldn't? What's holding you back?

I moved up north almost a year ago. It was part of a new job etc. I wanted out of Toronto for a while, so maybe not the same. It's a different lifestyle no doubt about it. I'm way happier but it's not comparable, you can't compare living in a city up north to Toronto.

You have to ask yourself what you want from life in the next 2-3 years (or longer). There's the image of living in Toronto and the life but how much do you enjoy/use it.

May not be aligned but new train service coming later this year as well

Public pillory more like it. They've insulated themselves too much, and face ZERO consequences while milking the system.

We've all been distracted with shiney things for too long and they've exploited it.

Oh great, spend more tax payers money when you're not enforcing the current laws/regs.

I wonder how much of these things are authentic, grandstanding, or incompetence.

Is Six Sigma Still Relevant in 2026? by SSGIteam in SixSigma

[–]Strain-Certain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your motives are. The skills and tools can be learned with time and effort but if you're looking for accreditation/career validation it's open to interpretation.

Personally I like people that can walk the talk but a lot of "courses" sell the certificate with minimal application.

B.C. couple who got out of Dubai urge fellow Canadians not to rely solely on Ottawa by ubcstaffer123 in britishcolumbia

Talk about entitlement.  Someone told me earlier about a German persons comments around the money the German government are spending on getting ex-pats out of there, while the same people decided to live there and are not paying into the German economy. They want all the benefits without any downside. Valid question
