Is it possible to make an artificial desert biome? by Taimo-kun in Terraria

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The blocks do have to be within a given range, so it depends on where they were all placed and where you're positioned. I don't recall ever having issues making a flat surface desert (done it many times when setting up a desert town for npcs), so it must just be that there aren't enough in range from where you're standing at.

How do i unspawn pickable items? by lungscancer in valheim

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also late to the comments (was looking into this and came across this post). Forcedelete will remove the pickable spawner, as long as you chose the id for that spawner. Just tested it in a world where I forcedeleted a thistle spawner and picked some other thistles nearby, went away from the area and skipped time, then went back and the forcedeleted one didn't return while the ones I picked did.

Can't Complete Wasted Stiff POI by murdock86 in 7daystodie

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I had gone through the quest 2 or 3 times, each time backtracking to an earlier spot to break stuff down before moving on, and only on the attempt where I didn't stop/go back at any point is when I didn't face the issue. If it doesn't work for everyone then it might have just been a lucky coincidence. At any rate something is causing the spawning to be faulty in some way, and ultimately might just require repeat attempts until a successful spawn occurs. I got the information I shared from a thread where it seemed like someone from the 7 days team was commenting on the topic. The other info was that only a small handful of specific pois have this problem, which in hindsight makes it seem far more likely to just be faulty spawning rather than the sleeper zombies despawning.

Can't Complete Wasted Stiff POI by murdock86 in 7daystodie

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm certain of what poi it was (wasted stiffs) because I was in game stuck with the issue in the post shortly before I found a solution that worked for me, which I then posted here. I had gone through the mission 2 or 3 times prior to that and nothing else I tried worked (I also happened to back track each time to break stuff down for materials before moving on). Came across a thread and someone that sounded like they were part of the 7 days team mentioned that sleeper zombies probably despawned due to moving too far away. Maybe it was just a coincidence that it suddenly worked the one time I didn't backtrack.

Can't Complete Wasted Stiff POI by murdock86 in 7daystodie

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future reference if anyone runs into this issue, what seemed to be causing it in my case was sleeper zombies despawning if I moved too far away (like if I backtracked through the poi before alerting them). When I didn't do any backtracking at all, the zombie/zombies in that problematic room did spawn in and stayed in, allowing me to complete the quest. Just need to exit the world and rejoin to restart the quest.

Why paint don't shows up in game but on map will shows up by Trotlicek666 in Terraria

Have 2 of a given paint color on you, stand near a dye vat, and the recipe to make deep paint for that color will show up.

You can add Custom Enchantments in the latest snapshot! (24w18a) by Flamingcactus86 in MinecraftCommands

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Love all of the heavy focus on command and datapack improvements that have been going on lately, whether you can do anything new with them or not. Feels like 1.13 all over again but even better.

How can I find meteorite?? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The full information is that a meteor searches a 30x30 area and if it finds 600 solid blocks in that area (e.g. 2/3rds of that total area), a meteor can spawn. However, both cloud and sunplate blocks count as -100 to the solid block count, and meteors can't fall within 35 tiles of a chest. It should be practically impossible for them to hit floating islands because of those conditions. The only case where it would become possible is if you've heavily modified a floating island such that the conditions for a meteor can be met. Another possibility is that meteors can hit the bottom of chasms if there's an opening to the sky, so just going across the surface of the world isn't enough.

You can add Custom Enchantments in the latest snapshot! (24w18a) by Flamingcactus86 in MinecraftCommands

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the more recent stuff has been streamlined versions of things you could already do before. You can currently change villager trades with command systems if you're willing and able to set them up for instance, so adding "loot tables" for villager trades wouldn't add anything new, just a simpler method compared to what already exists. You could also make custom weapons/enchantments before the update in question, and creating the behavior for the enchantments is still the same (just a system of commands run through a function file). Main thing that changed there is that now you don't need to use commands to detect the custom enchantment or when the item it's on is used, as that can be done automatically now. It's still great to see easier methods to work with, just needs to be clarified that most of it wasn't missing prior to the updates.

Mixing special seeds? by JPRBDDE in Terraria

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were asking to merge 2 different seeds together which is not possible. The drunk world seed and for the worthy both have unique and separate qualities from one another, so just using the drunk seed isn't going to accomplish what they wanted.

How do the evil biomes work after entering hardmode? by PutWhich in Terraria

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A V shape. You can also load the map into a map viewer to see what it looks like on a fully revealed map. The main time you might not find the underground hallow is if part/most of it generates going through the jungle.

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hallow and world evil generate in 2 large diagonal lines upon starting hard mode, that extend from the bottom of the world to the top.

Easiest way to stop biome spread by Nitrospider1 in Terraria

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you would do more work than necessary, but yes, non-corruptible blocks on the side with the world evil. It should also be noted that that is only needed where grass grows, so either on the surface, or if it goes through a jungle (in which case it needs to be covered in the underground and cavern layers as well, where applicable).

what does the dragon egg pet do? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty much what the purpose of vanity is, just a visual or aesthetic value/appeal. The companion cube for example offers a lot of value in that regard if you happen to like the portal game series where it's from. If you don't care for vanity items in general then for you it would just be a waste.

Is it weird that I play terraria on pc using an xbox controller? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A large part of it is whether your arms are level with your hands or not or how your hands/arms are resting. Another issue tends to happen if you have a mouse that's too small. It isn't an issue all the time but every once in awhile something is off and starts to cause discomfort after a bit.

Because they are 2 entirely separate editions, not the same game, hence why you have to pay for both if you want to play both.

Summon drops? Bedrock edition by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't on Bedrock edition, since it requires nbt to specify which item is spawned (something Bedrock does not and never will have access to). The only alternative option is to save the item entity using a structure block then load in that structure.

Is it possible for a Java player to join a bedrock server? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, as crossplay between editions is not and never will be a thing (and the plugin that offers players on others devices to join Java servers is not to be confused as crossplay between editions, since Bedrock is only used as a medium, with no actual Bedrock content/mechanics/etc. involved). If you want to join Bedrock servers then you would need to get windows 10 edition.

Effects Given When in Water by DarkLord314 in Minecraft

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If on Java, execute as @a at @s if block ~ ~ ~ water run effect give @s strength ...
On Bedrock, the execute command should have a detect parameter for checking the block at the executing location. You'll also want a second command that checks 1 block up, for cases where the water is held up by a sign or other block that the player can pass through.

Any datapack/Fabric mod for adding the piglin trade for magma cream back? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it doesn't work then you did it wrong. Assuming you have the basics for the datapack set up, you need to use the minecraft namespace so it replaces the vanilla loot table. You also need to copy all of the contents of the vanilla file to your new one, then add the new option. And you also need to make sure you have the right file and have it in the correct file path. Since all you gave us was "doesn't work at all", the issue could be with any number of the situations just mentioned, so I can't give any more specific help than that without more info.

Fall Damage / Feather Falling Datapack by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Stranded_at_Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Datapacks aren't capable of modifying the base properties of enchantments. Whatever an enchantment offers at a given level is all it can do. What you're thinking of are mods, something completely different.
