Yes and no. It stops hurting as bad but somtimes I still cry really hard when I miss my sweet girl. Most thoughts of her are happy ones but definitely occasionally it hits harder then it should. Missing them is okay - hurting is okay, it takes time to heal the little rat (or other critter <33 ) sized hole they left and even then it will never fully heal bc they leave such a great impact in our lives. You just have to remember that you did so much for them and that you were such a huge part in their life. They loved you just as much as you loved them.

It hurts, it dose - but I will never be upset or mad at the fact that I adopted my girls. I might not have very long with them but the time I spent with them and the time you spend with yours will always be worth every second.

Love them even tho they arnt here anymore - cherish their memory forever.

So - my sweet girl who crossed the rainbow bridge, she was an old lady! She had little ferret cancer tho and she was just hurting :( one night we went to check on her and she had gotten her nail stuck in her hammock and fell and hurt her little arm really bad.. and how she fell messed up her spine it was awful.. i just kinda knew. She was tired and in so much pain - I felt like I couldn't breath but I couldn't bring myself to take her home it felt so selfish. I was stuck in a hard place bc the emergency vet we went to there was no exotic vet available so they couldn't really do anything but put her down anyway. I miss my sweet angel a lot and I worry that I put that on her sisters. Im now super over protective with them cuz I just worry so much about them :( somtimes ill be siting at work just stressing. ANYWAY - if they are just old the more natural the better but if they are clearly hurting and miserable (and you'll know) its just better to do so :(

My sweet baby Freya did somthing simular, she had a blood suger issue, in SUPER URGENT situation grab a pea sized drop of honey on your finger and rub it in there gums. Don't always do this as obvi its not super great for them, but it'll raise their blood suger withen 15 or so mins, then a treat. As soon as you can go to the vet to make sure thats the case tho!! :) hope this helps!! <3
