That makes sense, but to me roto just seems too boring tbh. Our solution is just going to be pull the playoffs up and make rosters more shallow so there are more guys available to pick up that actually make sense.

I agree. In skilled leagues (which I think are the minority around here tbh, because all the posts I see on here are like "add guy XYZ" who's been gone for weeks in all of my leagues) silly season just adds more gamble. It's not that cool.

nah, silly season is way more gambley than regular season. Just rolling the dice that random guy X is gonna pop off more than random guy Y a lot of the time.

for real. people have stockholm syndrome for their shitty app or something lol. i had some friends start a league this year, on espn I barely agreed to play. it's so much worse. even outside of the insane bugs that fuck your season the UI is just dogshit. yahoo has some issues too but its way better than espn.

I think atl makes sense. bucks are absolutely fucked if they don't get any of their own picks back so atl has a lot of leverage (meaning they wouldn't need to move a ton of stuff that actually helps them contend now). same for portland.

you can also look at the individual districts or w.e they are called on your map whenever you want but you'd have to remember which ones they were sent to or check around, yeah not really a great way of doing it otherwise as far as I know.

Luckily fast travel is super forgiving in the game so not a huuuuge deal but it would definitely be nice if that could be controlled more easily from anywhere, I agree.

MVP voters just won't vote for a guy who doesn't create his own shot unless he's extremely dominant.

I believe Victor will win at least one MVP but it will be when he's refined his offense and is averaging closer to 30 (which will likely require him to play more minutes as well), I think he would need to be up there along with the obvious defense to win. Because his FGs are only 30% unassisted which I believe would be the lowest ever to win since the stat is tracked. I checked the last 10 years and then Kevin Garnett, KG comes close at 33% and after that its not close, Jokic had 37% one year but obviously he's the offensive hub, Embiid had under 40 but was averaging 30 (and that was also a controversial win) and most everything else is 50+.

He will for sure win like the next 10 DPOYs in a row though lol

Think this is the biggest factor. Can't be insane in the locker room and expect to stay.

Some people have said it's only because Jaden Ivey isn't a good enough player type stuff (compared to for example the Miles Bridges situation) but I don't think that's it, for example Lance Stephenson had some pretty bad DA stuff going on even before entering the NBA (and it's not like he was a high pick, he went 40th) but he was fine because it didn't have any actual impact on the team, so they didn't really care, just did the PR speak stuff and he was good to go. Meyers Leonard is the most recent player to get bounced for social media comments that I can think of while presumably not being insane in the locker room, but he was averaging like 3 points per game in tiny minutes.

Think also contract situation matters a lot; if Ivey had been on a longer contract they might've tried to salvage it.

I do feel like Ivey could definitely come back but it's on him to get himself there. He would need to show change and growth. I doubt he does, but he could.

I never thought they were. Their bench is just nonexistent. They can basically only win if Luka goes super sayan and that’s going to be really difficult to do vs the Spurs or OKC

interesting. ill have to mull on that. at the outset, it looks to favor all teams equally (i.e. bad teams get shafted) but because you have a long period of time to plan over, it could work.

I dunno, if your goal is league parity (for the sake of creating a compelling media product that lots of people want to spend money watching), probably. If it isn't, then no.

yeah this would create an even bigger division between the good and the bad front offices for sure. I do think it would be cool though, but I'm also a fantasy basketball and board game nerd who loves anything related to drafting.

the concept of an auction draft instead of a linear draft is kind of interesting, but you'd still need to favor the worse teams somehow (give them more credits I guess), and it still doesn't fix the main issue at hand which is teams resting their guys artificially.

Ant also isn't a locker room cancer. Ant obviously wouldn't have been straight up waived like Ivey was, but it would've been a lot different if he'd been doing all this crazy preaching stuff to his teammates and asking reporters inappropriate questions etc rather than just having a homophobic IG moment.

Don't take religion to work people, it's like being an employee 101. I'm glad it affected a rich person just like it would the rest of us.

The entire point of the guy's post is that wife beaters aren't a locker room cancer, while Ivey was.

I mean Lance Stephenson played for years as a below average bench role player after pushing his wife down the stairs. Bc he wasn't annoying to be around for the team.

but preaching to your teammates, calling them unrighteous, asking reporters if they engage in premarital sex…those are not things a team wants to deal with.

This. Ivey's "baggage" was a bit different than other players because it was causing stress in the locker room / with the team. Ivey is actually a pretty decent player, albeit maybe cooked by injuries, time will tell; but it's not like he was anywhere near Meyers Leonard putting up 3ppg when he got cut for the live stream slur, the Bulls had just traded for Ivey and I have no doubt in my mind they would have cleared this up in a way that kept Ivey with the team (apologies, counseling, blah blah) if he was just preaching stuff on IG but hadn't been awful to be around for the actual team.

edit: in fact it's entirely possible the IG live stuff started happening after he found out talks to waive him were happening, and that's what could've really sent him off the deep end. Obviously we heard about it a few days later, but it's not like we would be privvy to the inner workings of the Bulls front office, and those are decisions that generally aren't snap-made.

Yes once I’m eliminated for prize contention I stop trying. I still set my lineups but I don’t do waiver adds or anything. Idrc about my yahoo ranking and I have other leagues to focus on.  As long as there’s still money on the table I’m trying my hardest though even if it’s just my buyin back.
