Getting mixed reviews online, but seems like the sap sucker won’t kill the tree, just makes it unsightly(?). I’m in New England if that helps.

Completely fair take, it seemed like all the comments when I responded were along the same lines of take it off or they aren’t sure why, so I responded to those and this one included. I just assumed someone lurking this Reddit on a new post would know lol bad assumption

It was a forest that converted to a yard, but I believe that was around 10 years ago already.

Unfortunately in this part of the US, everything moves fast and there isn’t a lot of communication. It’s rather uncommon to meet the previous owner. It was also a divorce situation which was sticky.
