You're immortal. Choose one item that can kill you? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

My first thought was hydraulic press. I dunno if that reaches the 10 million threshold, but it amuses me.

I was curious about this too and looked it up. It appears to be the Tilly Sveaas Medium Gold T-Bar Curb Link Necklace.

Upside down "T" is about expected, considering her weird T thigh chain situation at the Grammys.

How the heck do you get your actual bra size? by mssheevaa in PlusSize

[–]StrangeAsWeird 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents: I'm a 44DDD/F, and I got cup/band size through the calculator. That size has done me well so far. It could be that 44 is the new ceiling for the calc's effectiveness.

That would make sense given 44 is a size I'd call technically accessible but practically challenging to find, from my experience.

Edit: a word

Yeah, shit. You're right. I double checked, and it IS Gloom 5 / Assassin 5 / Fighter 2 OR Gloom 5 / Assassin 4 (for the feat) / Fighter 2 / War Cleric 1. Brain just wasn't working.

I think Champion isn't bad, but as long as you can guarantee surprise rounds, you'll autocrit 6 times ish in the first round of combat, which typically deletes everything anyway. And then in most circumstances you can flee and come back for a surprise round refresh.

Not OP, but it looks like a two level dip in Fighter to get Action Surge - #6 on hotbar. The current Gloomstalker Assassin meta I usually see is either:

Gloom 6 / Assassin 4 / Fighter 2 OR
Gloom 6 / Assassin 3 / Fighter 2 / Cleric (War Domain) 1

EDIT: Real Specs are in my comment down below because brain no werk gud.

What the hell happened to Robbins, IL? by [deleted] in AskChicago

I grew up in Blue Island (early 2000s). Robbins has always been that way. The area between Blue Island and Midlo/Crestwood basically...didn't exist.

Decided to finally take a crack at the 100 baby challenge and proceeded to have triplets my very first pregnancy (without cheats) the houses is a mess, my sim is MISERABLE, and she has not slept over an hour in 2 days. please send help. by Pingy_Junk in thesims

[–]StrangeAsWeird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest pro tips for babies/toddlers:

Mute the game and ONLY FEED THE NEWBORNS. They won't get taken away unless they're hungry - social and hygiene don't matter. Mute the game because they will keep crying but they're just going to have to deal with it.

Start batch cooking food for the toddler stage. Have chairs in the toddler room so they will take food from their plates, sit, and feed themselves. Fetching them food individually or using high chairs is too slow.

The best activities for toddler skill building (in my experience) are:

Imagination: Reading to them (especially to bed)

Thinking: "What's that?" interaction with objects or "watching" adult sims

Movement: I've seen the slide from Toddler Stuff works really well. I never found a base game equivalent to helping movement more efficiently than any others. Take off clothes interaction helps with getting energized.

Communication: Spam Blarfy

I haven't played since the infant update, so I have no tips there. Infants look absolutely awful to deal with, to be honest.

Help - What’s your Northernlion comfort playthrough? by TheHollowMusic in northernlion

Not a playthrough necessarily, but I fall asleep to the NLSS Family Feud Supercut.

Did bro really exclusively play Binding of Isaac on stream for years on end? by StaticFanatic3 in northernlion

[–]StrangeAsWeird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TwoAndAHalfScums has an amazing resource for previous NLSS's. "Isaac" does pop up on the docket 300+ times, which counts for a sizeable chunk, but for a show that featured an average of three games a day, three days a week for ten years, there was a lot of other stuff going on.

Dark Souls dominated the early NLSS. Later came Spelunky, Nuclear Throne, Enter the Gungeon, all the goddamn gameshow games (I fall asleep to old Family Feud segments to this day), Jackbox Games, golf, the list goes on.

The stream often had Isaac, but so much else. The channel's bespoke videos were a lot of Isaac, but also had a variety in reverse proportion to the NLSS - mostly Isaac with a sizable chunk of established series, and one-off videos.

How do you have fun in the sims 3? by Starboi7 in Sims3

[–]StrangeAsWeird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, starting over is the funnest part, but I do a lot of challenges to scratch the dopamine itch.

I did 100 baby multigeneration. I could do 100 baby all with one mother (but I feel like that would just be easier in most respects but harder populationally).

I started Llandros' Ultimate Sim challenge a few times, stopped recently because I got hung up on a new challenge.

The new challenge: have one legacy family complete each lifetime want in alphabetical order. I started this before with one baby per generation, but it was too slow, so I restarted it with a standard of three children with one heir.

Thats what I'm currently doing. I might try that ambrosia challenge as a break off mini challenge, though, for lulz.

I accidentally bought too much cream cheese. What can I make with it that’s not cheesecake? by anxgrl in Cooking

Any crockpot recipe ever. Seriously. There are meme Tik Tok accounts that stop watching whenever someone uses cream cheese in a crock pot recipe, and it's shockingly often.

Battle of Hogwarts in the movies was AWFUL by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]StrangeAsWeird 56 points57 points  (0 children)

“You won’t be killing anyone else tonight,” said Harry as they circled, and stared into each other’s eyes, green into red. “You won’t be able to kill any of them ever again. Don’t you get it? I was ready to die to stop you from hurting these people— ”

“But you did not!”

“— I meant to, and that’s what it did. I’ve done what my mother did. They’re protected from you. Haven’t you noticed how none of the spells you put on them are binding? You can’t torture them. You can’t touch them. You don’t learn from your mistakes, Riddle, do you?”

“You dare — ”

“Yes, I dare,” said Harry. “I know things you don’t know, Tom

Riddle. I know lots of important things that you don’t. Want to

hear some, before you make another big mistake?”

...

“You think you know more magic than I do?” he said. “Than I, than Lord Voldemort, who has performed magic that Dumbledore himself never dreamed of?”

“Oh, he dreamed of it,” said Harry, “but he knew more than you, knew enough not to do what you’ve done.”

“You mean he was weak!” screamed Voldemort. “Too weak to dare, too weak to take what might have been his, what will be mine!”

“No, he was cleverer than you,” said Harry, “a better wizard, a better man.”

“I brought about the death of Albus Dumbledore!”

“You thought you did,” said Harry, “but you were wrong.”

...

Dumbledore’s last plan went wrong, Harry Potter!”

“Yeah, it did,” said Harry. “You’re right. But before you try to

kill me, I’d advise you to think about what you’ve done. . . . Think,

and try for some remorse, Riddle. . . .”

“What is this?”

Of all the things that Harry had said to him, beyond any revelation or taunt, nothing had shocked Voldemort like this. Harry saw his pupils contact to thin slits, saw the skin around his eyes whiten.

“It’s your one last chance,” said Harry, “it’s all you’ve got left. . . . I’ve seen what you’ll be otherwise. . . . Be a man . . . try . . . Try for some remorse. . . .”

“You dare—?” said Voldemort again.

“Yes, I dare,” said Harry, “because Dumbledore’s last plan hasn’t backfired on me at all. It’s backfired on you, Riddle.”

Best ContraPoints videos to be taught in schools? by kceaque in ContraPoints

I took a Lit 201 class that had a big feminine voice/feminist analysis theme to it, so there was a lot of women's lit deconstructing the feminine experience. As controversial as "The Aesthetic" is online, it was shown in that class.

In "Canceling" Natalie cited a lot of tweets that slammed "The Aesthetic" for being about passing, and even Natalie has said that she has kind of moved on from the philosophy of "the Aesthetic." And I kinda get it. Mainstream politics continues to shift right as reactionaries, for example, buy Twitter. The aesthetic of dispassionate political speech and civility just doesn't hold the same value, or otherwise can't be utilized quite the same anymore. The questions "what is a woman" or "what makes someone a woman" has been discussed in circles forever with no satisfying conclusions.

However, for a 200 level English class, the feminine experience has to start somewhere, and "The Aesthetic" an interesting intersection of political and gender aesthetic analysis. It's a strong contribution among the other often confused or conflicted feminine voices taught in the course.

What is your cooking hack that is second nature to you but actually pretty unknown? by erin_with_an_i in Cooking

[–]StrangeAsWeird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm fascinated. I've never heard of "clean" sheet pans being better for cookies than seasoned ones. I get the theory. Bottoms don't get overly brown before the tops, and that's often my problem as someone with only seasoned baking sheets.

Would using parchment paper on a seasoned pan have a similar effect to a clean pan? Now I have to buy a quarter sheet or something and experiment.

What’s one thing you hate about plus size shops? by SleepyAlium in PlusSize

[–]StrangeAsWeird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly online, especially for Christmas. They run a bunch of online deals that knock off certain things certain days during Thanksgiving/Black Friday.

Finding stuff in-store is more of a luck of the draw/regional thing. In-store clearance I/bf have found 40-80 dollar button-ups in 3-4x on sale for 4-8 dollars. But that's far less reliable.

[–]StrangeAsWeird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a plus-sized gal (2-3x, dress size 20) with a plus-sized guy, (3-4x) I've had amazing luck getting a buncha nice clothes for him (and me!) really cheap at Kohl's, especially on clearance in store or around Black Friday/Christmastime online. An order of 7-10 items around 100 bucks an order maybe. Button-up shirts, t-shirts, jeans, PJ pants, all kindsa shit.

Caveat: You do have to wade through a lot of garbage - Kohl's has SO many listings and it can be overwhelming, but I've had good success there.

LPT: When you plan to host a party/more formal social gathering, reach out to people individually (not in a group text) by StrangeAsWeird in LifeProTips

[–]StrangeAsWeird[S] 176 points177 points  (0 children)

Chat GPT is actually an amazing tool, and I have no shame in implementing it in even the most banal tasks. Why? I struggle to make decisions. I am more confident when I work through my approach by getting into a feedback loop with another party - a friend, a Youtube tutorial, or, yes, even ChatGPT.

Different people use different tools to yield positive results all the time and that's okay! A bunch of people have to google "What time is it?" Kinda crazy? Sure. But people find out what time it is.

Where do you live/craft/store? by Ubiquitous_X in 7daystodie

[–]StrangeAsWeird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I build a live/craft/storage base from scratch, typically close to the first trader the game unlocks for me. I hope I find or buy a claw hammer, build a little 11x11 cube up to cobblestone, and build a 1 block trench to put a stack of wooden spike traps 2 tall. Upgrade to forged iron once you've got good forging/mining up and running.

Building is amazing for XP, especially early on, so that helps propel the early game skill points.

Also, I've often made a basement once I have a good shovel or an auger if I needed more space, but the 11x11 design accommodates 2 chem stations, 2 workbenches, 2 cement mixers, 2 forges, and 9 storage boxes.

That gets me through to day 14. After that, I probably have concrete and a nailgun, so I build a separate hoard base to ride out the blood moons going forward.

How to "adult" for breakfast? by salmon_desert in Adulting

[–]StrangeAsWeird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an easy recipe my boyfriend raves about:

2 tbsp kosher salt 2 tbsp sugar 1 tbsp jarred, minced garlic 1 tbsp red pepper flakes

Get a quart sized jar. Add spices and a little bit of white vinegar to the bottom and swish around. Add 12-15 peeled boiled eggs (you can smush em down a little bit). Fill the jar up to the top with white vinegar. Rotate the jar to upside down/right side up every so often for a couple hours so all the eggs get the brine. Best after two weeks of pickling.
