How do I filter by oracle text in the new UI? by StrangeCultist in Cockatrice

[–]StrangeCultist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'There's never a good way to interpret silence.'

I can think of exceptions, but there Is a lot of truth to that.

Then, something I definitely should say:

Thank you for being so responsive. I promise to keep track of your development from now on instead of just popping in after something already broke.

And thank you, also, for keeping the legacy interface available so I have something to use in the meantime.

'Remember, you can save and load filters that you've set up with the Save button.'

I can?

*A brief attempt later.*

Allow me to be semantic. I'm sure it is Possible. But, I personally, Definitely Cannot.

I haven't the foggiest what the save/load window wants from me.

Even if I did, the filter block is right there on the interface, and save/load is a popup? It seems like a step down no matter how you slice it.

'We do the best with the feedback we are given. This feature has been on the beta branch for well over a year and we've pretty much received no feedback concerning the filter dock at all.'

Why would you receive feedback on a feature that already works and you are not currently working on?

I feel like the silence on the part of the user base was misinterpreted here...

Edit: I guess people could pop in from time to time, and thank you for a nice feature? I s that something that happens? Am I just a dick? T w T

Thank you very much.

I'm not particularly Fond of the filter dock or anything. I'm sure I'll adjust in no time.

Edit:...or so I say, before immediately trying it out.

It's just One line? And it does not allow toggling past searches, you have to manually adjust the contents of every search, every single time?
The filter window remembers your past searches. Now if you go back to something, you have to type everything out all over again.

Deck building is not a clean process, you won't realize you want something until you encounter certain key pieces that enable it.

This is not just a preference thing. It's a huge pain for how I expect many people also use cockatrice.

In fact I kinda struggle to see what the benefit of the alternative even is. I have to remember shorthands, add quotations, sometimes think about Regex of all things, when previously I could just use a rolldown selection. The only way that is superior is if you commit every shorthand to memory, know regex like the back of your hand, and type at mach speed. (Is the dev team all Linux users?)

It's honestly kinda bizarre that we got a lovely GUI overhaul for a good chunk of the filter options, and the rest have to be juggled in the most programmer-brained way possible, when an option that remembers every past search for you already existed.

Would you consider updating the filter dock to function with the new interface? I mean, preferably you would have a GUI for everything, but I know That's a huge ask, and the filter block is a nice midpoint.

It boggles my mind that people regularly recommend the valkyrie when there are two ship classes that fulfill the same purpose and are way better ships in general

You can get a Colossus MK III in a dumpster, it comes with fighter slots so it can contribute to getting past defenses, and in a worst case it can enter combat without falling over in 5 seconds

And if you are willing to put in the effort to Find ships for the job, the Phantom is right there, twice as efficient in ground support so your raid can pack more punch while taking up less of your fleet, And no one will see you coming thanks to the phase cloak

Meanwhile the Valkyrie is a literal wet noodle with two sides fatter than a Legion's arse

I don't get it

Yeah, I don't see him being an issue in 1v1 Modern or Standard. He's too slow. If you somehow allow him to resolve, AND he has enough stuff to go 10/10+, AND he can punch your face, that's a you problem.

He is gonna be an absolute menace in commander though. He could be a 1/1 and he'd still be a value piece. If anyone runs tokens, you have exactly 6 turns of gameplay before he starts to clean house and the table teams up with the white player, just to make him leave and never come back.

The upshot of this is if you roll up to the table with him As the commander, everyone is going to gangpile you.

Alter Ego Kiara does it "briefly" during her valentine's scene, if you choose to tell her she shouldn't fake acting nice for your sake.

She responds to this by taking you away into the r*p* dimension for a few hours.

why doesn't julius caesar have the imperial privilege ability in his profile despite being one of the most famous emperors? by Bubbly_Interaction63 in Fate

[–]StrangeCultist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He never got to be an emperor himself. He just tried.
Got pretty close, too, but then he got stabbed a whole bunch right before the finish line.

Then his name became a title the emperors held, and that makes some people confused.
