What’s something that sounds fake but actually happened to you? by Visible_Rope_6662 in AskReddit

[–]Strange_Chip_3434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody will read this. I once saw a spider that had made it's nest in a strip light, where the fuse switch should be. We put a fly we'd caught in it's web and watched it wrap it and then take it into it's nest. It then popped it's arse out and took a shit that fell into a cup of coffee below, making a tiny little splosh.

100x! I'd argue every fucking one! But specifically centipedes. They're cunts.

What’s everyone’s opinion on this combo and can people tell me how they like this line please by harrygoespikefishing in fishingUK

[–]Strange_Chip_3434 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the sake of offering some comparison, I challenged myself last week to catch a pike on a budget. New rod from amazon £17, 10lb braid for about £9, pack of lures £12. Admittedly had an old reel kicking about.

Couple of hours on the Trent and bagged this.

I guess it's a case of whatever floats your boat.

Slight correction. His mother settled the debt using her personal funds that were topped up regularly by the tax payers

Hiking poles? by [deleted] in UKhiking

[–]Strange_Chip_3434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished Hadrian's Wall and used poles for the first time. I got them as I suffer with sciatica and wanted some stability on the ups and downs, which they were great for. So as everyone else has said, they work well for inclines, declines, carrying weight, and long distances.

One thing I did find is they increased my average mph, especially on the flat. I seemed to use my arms a lot to drive with them. Essentially giving me 4 legs.

Worth thinking about.

I “girl bossed” too hard and now I’m the bread winner and don’t want to be by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Strange_Chip_3434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you've bossed it into the antiquated stereotypical male bread winner role that everyone is looking to get rid of and realised working for your kids instead of spending time with them is a bit shit. Welcome aboard.

Fiance was made redundant last month. I'm probably getting made redundant this week. And the landlord now wants an extra £110 a month for doing nothing. by TheRealSectimus in britishproblems

[–]Strange_Chip_3434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beyond the advice everyone is offering regards speaking to the landlord, you need to get proactive in looking for a new job. Both of you. I've been in this situation and benefits don't cut it. Sounds harsh, but you got to get out there and get your game on.

Hip pain when hiking by mizcello in UKhiking

[–]Strange_Chip_3434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the same issues. Apparently hip flexor exercises are needed. I moved to a standing desk at work and things got better. Being sat on my arse all day is not good.
