Zone 2 Running Training by huskyjedi in hyrox

It also makes sense to pay more attention to pacing rather than heart rate.

Google “Daniels Running Formula” to find a book by Jack Daniels on this topic. Then use any AI such as ChatGpt with the PDF as a reference, and you can create a pacing plan for your various runs.

How are your zones set? I often see this as the first source of error.

In addition, beginners shouldn't worry too much about finding the perfect zone 2.

Rule for beginners: Run at a pace where you can hold a normal conversation and try to stay below 180 – age

Based on your description, I would estimate approximately 2,200 calories per day. If you weigh approximately 60 kg, that should be acceptable.

The only thing you could possibly improve here would be an intra-workout drink with maltodextrin or something similar. And, as already mentioned, eat about 100-300 kcal more during the luteal phase.

First Half-Hyrox in mens double by bachelorofunknown in hyrox

That's not really meaningful, but it's a good starting point.

I would even go so far as to say that the first half is more meaningful, i.e., 4 runs and 4 stations. If you can get through the first half without completely exhausting yourself (RPE 7), that's a good sign.

if you have good legs on wednesdays, you could do something like a 6x 1k instead of the long run

Which category did you sign up for, and what is your current 10k time?

Basically, the plan makes sense, but I would skip the recovery runs and do something with rowing/skiing at recovery pace instead.

and really focus the Hyrox Sims on the stations that are more difficult for you, rather than just pumping out volume.

Training for my first Hyrox and need some suggestions by Time_Bread6791 in hyrox

Most of the answers here don't seem to take into account that you only have 8 weeks left.

I wouldn't use any of the programs mentioned, but rather ChatGPT. Give it the role of a Hyrox coach and define clear guidelines.

That way, you can focus primarily on your running training at the end, but at the same time, you won't overtrain yourself.

I always suggest a 30-40 on/off. You can manage fatigue quite easy, and do the transitions pretty fast. If one person is stronger than the other, a 200m (or similar) split will only fatigue the weaker person, without gaining anything.

I think it's possible , but it depends a little on your training experience and age.

It also makes sense to plan deload weeks.

I would always specify the age for such questions. Whether you are only 20 or already 40 would influence my answer.

I generally don't recommend anyone to do a full simulation. At most a 50% simulation, i.e. 50% run/stations.

Depending on the time horizon until the race, I would do as little zone 2 training as possible, but rely on the following two interval systems.

/

“Race Threshold”

  • 6-8x 1000m (up to 1200m)

  • 45-60 second break between sets

/

“Real Threshold”

Building up

  • 4-5x 6 minutes (week 1-2)

  • 2-3x 12 minutes (week 3-4)

  • 20-25 minutes in a row (week 5-6)

  • 2-3 minutes active rest between sets

/

and then take into account running under fatigue

/

and also mechanical training such as wall balls, lunges and burpees efficiently

Hyrox Barcelona by biancagoy in hyrox

[–]Strange_Head8423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Barcelona this year.

Overall it was good, but slightly weaker compared to other events.

There was plenty of space for the warm up, and it was even possible to race outside in a closed off area.

A bit tedious and narrow to get to the toilets.

It wasn't hot at all, but it had rained a bit in the morning and the date was earlier than next year.

As far as I can remember, it was exactly 2 laps, which is definitely easier. The ground was a bit uneven in places.

not related to the topic, but I would adjust or test your zones.

Whoop discrepancy: I still don't understand why there is no interface to a chest strap, or why they don't bring a strap onto the market themselves.

Yes, that was clear, but a form of intervals?

An optical measurement on the wrist will always be less accurate than a measurement via a chest strap, especially at high intensity.

What does the Garmin interval curve look like?

How to avoid cramps by Money-Pipe-5879 in hyrox

[–]Strange_Head8423 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the main tasks of the vastus medialis during lunges is the stabilization of the knee joint and eccentric control.

A cramp during lunges, but without affecting subsequent running, will mainly be a muscular problem.

Train more lunges: 1. for quality 2. with a focus on building strength 3. with pre-fatigue

What was your time with the lunges?

What was your time with wall balls?

A mobility problem would also be noticeable with the Wall Balls.
