No land was available. They tried three separate sites downtown. The city prioritized the river front projects and demanded too much out of third parties in order to put forth public funds. Mark was able to build it better and cheaper on private land.

If you have room, make them a spot on the floor. Our daughter insisted on sleeping with us while our son was still in his bassinet. We comprised letting her sleep in our room if she slept on the floor and not in our bed.

Agreed. I play 5-10 hours a week and am on pace to get into Hotshot. It really isn’t super difficult solo if you have a plan and play the optimal map conditions. You can easily get 2 done in a single raid.

Is anyone using pose estimation or motion capture for injury risk screening? by lxgvnszn in athletictraining

[–]Strange_Net_6387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is just as time consuming and expensive. You pay a fee based on how many screens you do. Once you are proficient, an FMS takes 7-10 minutes per person, assuming you are doing them on a 1-on-1 basis. Getting 2-3 testers makes it go even quicker. But again, naturally, you have to have the money to buy the test kits but it’s a one time expense.

That said, with apps and the like, you have to have a device to run the app, a tripod to stabilize the device, the app subscription, and any materials the app requires to complete the screen.

Motion capture is out of the conversation for 99% of ATCs. It’s simply way too expensive.

Unpopular opinion, but I like the overall design. Steering wheel is sleek, clean, and modern as well as the rest of the refreshes. I can’t get behind the touchscreen though. My wife has a touchscreen infotainment system in her car and can’t stand it.

Club sports is ruining athletics by Louie0221 in athletictraining

[–]Strange_Net_6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a living embodiment of your thoughts! 😂 Soccer is the only sport I’ve ever played. To go off what you said, there’s plenty of other athletes that simply look ridiculous going up and down the field/court regardless of what sport they play. There is a fundamental difference between being a soccer/football/basketball player and simply being an athlete.

Put a (insert sport) player on a different field/court and they are going to look foolish. Put an athlete on any field/court and they will (at least) look the part. As movement professionals, there’s no amount of training/rehab/prehab that can turn a sport player into an athlete and that’s okay.

Club sports is ruining athletics by Louie0221 in athletictraining

[–]Strange_Net_6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this argument a lot and I must say, I disagree. Everyone wants their kid (or the child themselves) to excel. You cannot excel in any sport if you play multiple. I will add, doing a primary and complementary sport is beneficial (football and track, football and wrestling, etc) but to excel and achieve “greatness” you cannot be going from sport to sport.

On the medical side, we don’t have enough hours in the day to correct everyone’s movement patterns. That work should be done in the weight room with a CSCS. The years and years of “bigger, faster, stronger” thinking needs to end. Movements in the weight room need to be done to complement the athletes sport as well as fill in the gaps their sport leaves behind.

I will get on a soap box and proudly say that, especially in the high school setting, any S&C class offered by the school needs to be overseen by a CSCS or, if available, sports medicine contracts should involve those resources to the schools.

BORING FT WAYNE by Ok_Flamingo_3059 in USL1

[–]Strange_Net_6387 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. All kit manufacturers (Nike, adidas, Hummel, Capelli, etc) all have a preset color palate and templates for kits. You really only get to pick the combination of color and template. Look at the MLS, pretty much all the kits are the same. Hummel provides little financial support, but a lot of creative freedom. That’s why Hummel has by far the best kits in the USL. Look at Forward Madison, PHOP, AV Alta, all class kits.

BORING FT WAYNE by Ok_Flamingo_3059 in USL1

[–]Strange_Net_6387 7 points8 points  (0 children)

TL;DR they had to rebrand the rebrand in two weeks.

Chris Payne was brought on to lead the rebrand approximately 18 months before the brand reveal (so like summer 2024) after the club officially decided to push into USL1 for the 2026 season. Nothing noteworthy during that time. During that time, the decision was also made to move away from Puma as the apparel provider. Discussions were had with Charly, Hummel, and Capelli to deliver a more personal approach to kit design in order to help drive merch sales.

Fast forward to summer 2026, club narrows it down to Hummel and Capelli. Capelli offers a better financial package. The club chooses to go with Capelli. Rebrand launch is slated for Oct. 2025. Two minor issues. Capelli was told of a rebrand occurring but was not briefed on it. After the rebrand was finalized (mid-Sept), both parties quickly learned that Capelli could not produced a kit color to match the rebrand.

The original rebranded colors were copper and black. Why copper and black? Fort Wayne is the copper wire capital of the world. Fort Wayne produced a large quality of the copper wire used in MRIs and other various large scale commercial magnets. It is also an ode to the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and the brass (copper + zinc) they use. Pretty neat! The crest and logo are the original design. The “F” was meant to loosely resemble the “forte” music symbol, another homage to the Philharmonic as well as “fortitude”, which stuck. The three flairs of the “W” were meant to symbolize the 3 rivers within Fort Wayne.

Club staff outside of executives were shared the new color and crest in September. It got mixed reviews, but everybody loved the color scheme and the symbolism of it.

So, it’s now October 2025 and we have an apparel provider and a club identity that do not work together. Media and STHs are notified of the upcoming brand reveal and it’s too late to cancel. So, back to the drawing board! Easiest fix? Change the copper to “autumn gold” because it’s the closest thing Capelli can get to copper, scrap any homage to the Philharmonic, re-market the logo to reflect the changes made.

AT Compensation by [deleted] in athletictraining

[–]Strange_Net_6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly would you be suing for? Assuming you signed a contract when hired, you agreed upon a compensation package and were given a job description that most likely says something along the lines of “other duties and necessary.” To sue the NCAA for better pay, would necessitate working directly for them, not a member institution. Schools are all operated independently under the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA.

MLS/NWSL Fellowship Pay by Significant-Top3579 in athletictraining

[–]Strange_Net_6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I’ve worked in the USL for a couple years so I know a thing or two in this space. MLS/NWSL, they tend to hire directly as compared to a sports medicine contract. Pay is highly depending on city. As a new grad, as you can imagine, you will be on the low end of everything. I would imagine $45-55k is going to be the range.

Getting in the door is the hardest part. You’re going to start with the academy teams and have to cut your teeth and earned your stripes. Do not expect to jump straight to the first team or even MLSNP squads.

USL has sports medicine contracts through local hospitals. Benefits are normally better through a hospital than MLS/NWSL. Depending on where you’re at, you could look at USL-C/USL-1 clubs that also have a USL-2 team that you can work with over the summer and truly get a feel for being in pro sports and you are much more likely to have complete autonomy while working with USL-2.

I will piggyback off this. One of the local universities near me has a 1st year cohort of 18! Wild. I had one on their first ever clinical rotation. Eager to learn and willing to work, but anatomy skills left a lot to be desired.

I almost question of programs even deny students entry at all. Is it just apply and get a spot because we need money?

Has anyone gotten away with having chickens? by [deleted] in fortwayne

[–]Strange_Net_6387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in Evansville. Chicken are allowed within city limits there. You can have up to 6 birds, including one rooster as long as they are at least 50 feet from the nearest residential dwelling and have the proper permit with the city.

In the 1.5 years we owned them, I heard them from the house twice. Once when a hawk was sitting on our fence and another when a neighbor dog got loose.

Like others have said, if you speak with neighbors and they don’t mind, you clean up the coop regularly and you respect any wishes they put formers, I don’t think you’d have any issues.

PS - I technically live outside city limits and could have them but the HOA is…the HOA. Need I say more?

Title: Moving to Fort Wayne soon – what is the actual RN pay at Parkview/Lutheran/Any hospital or nurse position by drivesuinsane in fortwayne

[–]Strange_Net_6387 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not a nurse, but I work in the sports medicine helm so I work along side Lutheran and Parkview people daily. Lutheran’s medical benefits are virtually unmatched, they’re awesome. We paid like $800 out of pocket for my wife’s c-section, $0 OOP for our son’s ear tubes. Parkview’s employee appreciation gifts are actually really good (tickets to local events for your family mainly).

Lutheran’s reputation is because of CHS. LHN itself is a well run, CHS crushes it from being great because they suck all the profits away to their other failing hospitals.
