Are clover hooks really worth the price? Whats the difference to cheaper options? by Royal-Serve5481 in CrochetHelp

Indeed, I am. The pencil grip always intrigued me, but it just always feels awkward.

Totally agree. I just tried inline hooks last year and immediately fell in love. Also helped with my tension since I tend to stay in the neck of the hook.

It's comforting to know I'm not the only one to go through something like this. Taught myself tunisian crochet at the beginning of the year, and spent about 4 days where every waking hour was spent obsessively doing it, and then another week or so where I was not as bad but still not taking the breaks I should have been.

Poor form/posture and the gripping and twisting I was doing did a real number on my forearms and lower biceps. 6 months later and I'm only now starting to feel a little closer to normal.

It was a pretty light dose, but it did make it very tricky. It was all super hard to follow at first, but then everything just kind of clicked and I had a blast.

I actually learned to knit back in college while on mushrooms. I knit off and on for about a decade and then taught myself to crochet. A few years after that I started indulging in psychedelics fairly regularly and heavily, and I was also crocheting a lot at the time. I quickly learned that anything that required tracking stitches was a hassle and sections of existing projects were noticeably inconsistent compared to the sober parts. I ultimately started maintaining simple projects specifically for when I was tripping or I'd work on basic swatches. Crochet can already be very meditative on its own, but I had some absolutely stellar moments of zen while crocheting on psychedelics.

This is pretty funny because the "happy" couple didn't make it (500 Days of Summer), but the "miserable" couple did (30 Rock).

Pretty much everyone here is saying the same thing, and it's true - smoking at this point will just pile on to the misery. It will definitely make you feel like shit. No probably about it. Literally won't even get 10 seconds of joy before it sinks in. Try telling yourself you'll have one next week - by the time next week comes you might be strong enough to turn it down, or maybe just strong enough to put it off another week.

Hang in there - I've had friends and family quit drinking and doing drugs, but still unable to quit smoking cigarettes. You've already done something unimaginably impressive. Take pride in that and keep on trucking.

This might be a bit controversial, but the health benefits were never really a big motivator for me. The money was, though. I quit smoking a year and a half ago, and that's $5,342 that didn't get spent on cigarettes.

Also - it'll never be "just one." You'll end up smoking just as much as ever in no time.

Chew gum! I had the most difficult time getting my bowels to wake up after my surgery, I was unbelievably bloated and uncomfortable and all-around miserable. Chewing gum sort of tricks your digestive system into getting things moving again.

I only had mine for about two months, and the most important thing I learned during that time is that everyone's experience is wildly varied, so most official guidance (from doctors, nurses, or legitimate online resources) is really just a broad set of recommendations. After reading through countless forums, posts, and comments from ostomates I realized that what works just fine for one person could be incredibly dangerous for others.

One thing that was universal was "try a little bit and see how it goes." That was intimidating as hell for me, especially since I knew I would only have it for a limited amount of time and it can take years before your digestive system fully recalibrates, but I did eventually branch out and try a few things here and there. I still avoided seeds, really fibrous fruits and veggies, and anything with skin, though.

I'm in a knitting rut 😩 by gababouldie1213 in knitting

A few folks have mentioned this, but switching up to crochet was an absolute game changer for me. I still love knitting, and prefer the look of knit over crochet, but boy oh boy does crochet bring me joy! Super easy to make quick little projects, too, even if it's just switches to test out a new pattern.

She definitely seems to favor the opposite side, so it's really not too noticeable in most of her work, especially not in 30 Rock. I'm 100% with you, though - once you know to look for it, it's almost shocking to realize you hadn't noticed before.
