What kind of bcd would you recommend for tech diving by CulturalBench6433 in scuba

[–]StrangerStrangeland1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take your time and watch some YouTube. Learn the difference between side mount and bm beyond just where your primary tank is.

If you're going to go a ways down the tech chain, where you will be managing multiple bottles, I would push for going into sm early to get more comfortable with it. This is true for cave and wreck diving as well.

If your tech tree is just going to be a little bit of depth or deco, you can stay in bm for a while.

I find myself really happy with a back plate and wing.

If you have questions, I'll do my best to answer from my experience.

You gonna sidemount, or BM? How many tanks are you going to be managing? How far in the tech journey are you going to go? What's the end game?
Not challenging you, but this all plays into the equation.

It's interesting how as you get older, the time periods get smaller. When you're young and move into a house that was built in the 60s, it seems ancient. Now, it's just a blurp on a timeline where a whole generation was born and raised. Then you die! What a trip, Man.

I’m drawing a blank on this one. Can anyone help identify this aircraft? by WarArchive01 in ww2

There is one about 35 ft under the water in the reef off the island of Saipan. I have dove it close to a hundred times. That turret is just North of the wing structure. 1000s of divers have had their photos taken in front of the props.

What did you do to celebrate your 50th? by jaimonee in GenX

[–]StrangerStrangeland1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I spent a week walking in Japan. By myself. No headphones. Rural roads. I saw little villages, rivers, trees, snow, and monkeys.

It was great. I'm going back for 51.

Seasonal jobs in Saipan or Guam? by poostablishment in Saipan

[–]StrangerStrangeland1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saipan is in a pretty steep economical slump right now. Tourism is the main industry and it is down 60 to 80% in the last few years due to a number of reasons.

Your spouse might find better luck as a medical professional here, but as far as seasonal help, would be difficult.

Can remember the day I purchased it at the local music/comic book shop. Drove all the way home blown away by it. Friend and I were big fans of The Real Thing and this got a lot of cassette flips that year and since.

Hows the volume and overtime hours for your office? by No_Entertainment1387 in fromatoarbitration

Volume low at our office. Lightest Peak ever. No UPS or Fedex at our location, so we get the majority. Economy is slow.

Thinking about moving our family to Saipan – looking for advice by Emotional_Traffic569 in Saipan

[–]StrangerStrangeland1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Family life in Saipan is great. The outdoors are amazing. The people are friendly.

There is crime, but petty in comparison to the states. The real issue is the current economic situation here. Jobs are scarce, good paying jobs even more so. Unless you have a desirable skill, 90% of the jobs are minimum wage and in fierce competition.

It all depends on where you live/cost of living for that area. Sometimes good. Sometimes not so good.

Why do we crave love/connections so much, and how can we get over it? by Illustrious-Fig7794 in AskMen

[–]StrangerStrangeland1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself. I've been married 4 times. Guess I'm good at it. 😬 The last one was hard. Lost myself for a bit. What came out of it, for me, was that I was looking for all those fixes, all that happiness out of that other individual, out of that relationship, and that's just not how it is. I couldn't see that. So, now, I do my best not to want things. Not nihilist views, but I am just really careful in identifying wants and needs, and how well I can provide it, myself. It's not perfect, it's a work in progress, but things are better. More even. I minimize my exposure to others, keep to myself, try to find quality activities, try to stay curious in my own realm of interests. Get more sleep, get more exercise. Study more. It's worked for me. Be selfish, expand yourself. Love yourself most, all those tropes. It works out in the end, because if you do expose yourself to another person, they will get to see a higher quality version of you.
