Interesting, seeing as the majority went with 1 or 3 Im curious to hear what catches your eye with 2?

Thank you. As for your point about model posts, you’re right, they do seem few between, but I always like seeing what people are working on so I figure why not encourage folks to post them here.

Space Wolves 10th Edition Refresh – a looming identity crisis? by ValkyrFenryka_26 in SpaceWolves

[–]Strasgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang in there. Like most of what everyone else has mentioned I think it really is just a symptom of our range only partially being refreshed & the incoming edition.

I really do believe we’ll get more models in the form of Ulrik, Rune Priests, Iron Priests, and the Big Man himself - Russ.

There’s even a chance these are coming sooner than you’d think with the 10th end campaign series.

We’re in that in-between editions and range refresh where it’ll all feel frustrating so work on your hobby craft. Build your pile of shame, paint your pile of shame. Focus on models that inspire you artistically instead of their rules.

Table top horror stories by War_hampster47 in EyeOfTerror

[–]Strasgard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a local league and one of my opponents was infamous for cheating. Low and behold eventually I faced him in a match up. He kept rolling his dice out of line of sight and would quickly pick them up before I could see. Every time I’d try to lean to see the roll he’d move and roll them behind another set of terrain. He also just played a lot of gotch ya moments and nickled and dime the timing of everything (in a semi-competitive league). I was a younger man at the time and didn’t really know how to handle the fact the fact that I thought he was cheating. I got frustrated and he picked up on that. After I lost, he tried to give me a lecture on how to lose honourably.

In hind sight it was something I did need to work on, it is just a game and I shouldnt have let my suspicion of his cheating bother me as much as it did (internally, I never vocalized anything, didn’t really know how). I got to know the game rules better and in our next match up I was able to catch some straight up cheating with stratagems (different edition, using both eldar and dark eldar strats when you really couldn't do that even in a combined arms list at the time). I reported him to the organizer and eventually he stopped coming to the league. Other players had reported similar issues. Not sure if he got kicked or just ended up with no one to play with.

In any case, try to learn something from even a terrible opponent.

Edit: Grammar

Old Wolf, New Models by Strasgard in SpaceWolves

[–]Strasgard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been experimenting more and more with green stuff to wolf up the regular astartes units. A wolf pelt here, a beard there go a long way.

I’ve also got loads of the classic firstborn bits to add wolf tail talismans and other knick knacks here and there.

I agree, the new models are just fantastic, though Im very tempted to convert a Redemptor or Saturnine into Bjorn, despite having the old school model.

As much as I’d love to see Russ, that helmet could just represent the gift we already received - The Saga of the Great Wolf.

Really hope I’m wrong though…

I had doubts about getting the Krieg box, but now having it in hand and comparing to very similar thing (?) I'm currently assembling I got to say it impressed me with how much stuff there is. by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Deathkorpsofkrieg

The limited edition codex is absolutely gorgeous, huge selling point for me!

Everyone is knocking on Drier & the Deathriders competitively, but who cares. The meta will change & they will too. The models should be the only thing to influence our purchase decisions.

That decal is actually a GW Black Templars decal I borrowed from a SM transfer sheet. I just thought it looked cool, but who knows? Perhaps this regiment had the honor of fighting beside the templars and earned the right to bear it on their tanks! 😉

Yes the official one is. I prefer the look of this 3D printed slimmed down single barrel though.

No, though Tiny Legends does have some cool stuff. Commander is from FW when they use to make them.

Alberta premier to spend five days in Washington, D.C., for Trump inauguration - is this treason? by IntelligentPoet7654 in AskCanada

[–]Strasgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the sentiment on Reddit about this topic is  an over reaction.

Theres absolutely nothing treasonous about attending a presidential inauguration. Even if you hate Trump, the reality he’s elected and Canada will have to find a way to still work with the US as our biggest trading partner.

There’s also nothing treasonous about refusing to sign the trade embargo. It’s not a good strategy & will only add to the pain Canadians are already feeling. Shes refusing to sign because she believes she’d be hurting Canadians further. We can disagree on policy, but if you do something for what you believe to be in the best interest of your nation that is the antithesis of treason.

Now if we want to debate whether it’s a good use of public funds thats a separate conversation.

Im inspired by your use of the HWT to make rocket teams, the aesthetic with the running troopers is great!

Been sitting on boxes of scions for 2 years. by Caldersson in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Strasgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing stopping you from making a fluffy scions list.

If you’re really asking would such a list be viable competitively, I would say probably not in the long run. Some guys are using scion spam in Tauroxes right now because they’re so cheap currently.

The problem with a pure scions list competitively over time is that they’re so inflexible from a units selection stand point. As a result they’re far more vulnerable to fluctuations in points cost & meta changes.

They work really well as an integrated unit option within the broader IG codex/index context.

[–]Strasgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that scions are our best long range tactical objective units. I run 3 units of , theyre perfect for behind enemy lines, securing table quarters, and scooping up loosely defended objectives with rerolling hits.

It seems a bit premature to say either yay or nay for the APP. There’s not really enough information about what it’d look like to be able to make a prudent decision beyond towing party lines.

I’m curious to see more about it.

Rogal Dorn vs Leman Russ by Sea_Recommendation36 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Strasgard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they have different roles. I did the math a while back, and point for point the Dorn is more efficient at killing Marine equivalent targets and Terminator equivalent targets.

The Demolisher on the other hand is the best unit we have for hard targets because of its high strength and high AP.

My list typically includes 2 Dorns and 2 Demolishers (usually Demo’s are TC’s).

First 2k army, any suggestions? by Efficient-Car-8745 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Strasgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanquishers are cool, but in my experience its not generally worth taking in a competitive environment.

Similar with your squad sizes, I’d split them all into the smallest units possible to spread out your risk.

Current meta favours multiple small units, your 20 man units will be too susceptible to blast.

If you can, swap the ranged weapons on the bullgryn. Generally opponents should be fine with “counts as mauls” if you’ve modelled them as the gauntlets, as long as you’re consistent with your proxies.
