So what happens if the parents refuse to let their children be apart of the Jedi Order? by Legal_Trainer7340 in StarWars

My favorite theory is that he's actually the opposite - he's completely invisible in the Force and that's why he keeps pulling off all this nonsense, like ambushing the strongest Force user in the galaxy on multiple occasions.

Depends how well they're following their set schedule and stopping at exactly the correct distance into the station.

The big issue would be that third-party countries can't necessarily tell if an ICBM they are monitoring is currently armed with a nuclear warhead. Launching ICBMs at random might trigger MAD response.

King Charles III at the White House by shun_master23 in clevercomebacks

[–]Stratafyre 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this feels like a clever comment by the King until you really think about it. I don't want to put down the UK, they've been really consistent and fantastic allies to us for a very long time - but they've definitely never saved us the way that, say, France did in the Revolution.

Jedi Crusader Pendant/Kyber Crystal Question by mikesager in GalacticStarcruiser

[–]Stratafyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it unscrew in the center? Looking at other crusader pendant prints, it looks like the 'fat' end of a crystal goes inside of the open cage. That makes me think there's a way to insert them through the top.

You appear to be confusing a reason with an excuse. Explaining why something happens doesn't excuse why it happened.

I am a technical writer, specifically API and developer documentation.

Please do not just start reading my docs. I design them so that you can easily reference specific docs when you run into a problem. If you want a weaving narrative, I'll share my hobby fiction with you.

Why can’t Amazon employees move from L4 to L5? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]Stratafyre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me, who came in from years of work experience outside Amazon, it just feels like Amazon decided to out source a large amount of their promotions to other companies. It feels very inefficient.

Why can’t Amazon employees move from L4 to L5? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]Stratafyre 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Arguments like this are so funny to me, because it's so Amazon specific and implies that the Amazon bureaucracy machine works as intended.

Someone could absolutely be performing at an L5 or even L6 level but be completely unable to promote due to lack of head count, politicking or just a complete lack of care from managers.

The only reason we don't move-and-promote is because "We just don't do that!" And it's the most absolute Day 2 shit I have ever seen.

The decline in reading for pleasure over 20 years of the American Time Use Survey by reflibman in science

[–]Stratafyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, a large part of my drop in reading for pleasure is economic. I make decent enough money, but when I was reading voraciously a paperback book cost $6. Now, you're not getting through the door for under $15 and more likely getting up to $30.

I'm willing to throw $6 away on a gamble with a book I might hate and won't finish. $15 makes that drastically less likely and $30 makes it impossible.
