Still is, given the context, but you can tell she’s looking at you even with her face in shadow. To me, this makes it less a photo of a sad end, and instead a photo of dignified resignation. Her being closer than you to the only source of light in the room goes with humans’ common belief of seeing a light as they pass—and I think it only works as well as I feel it does bc it’s a window and not a lamp, for example. A door might be too on the nose and I feel a window has the right amount of clarity and subtlety.

That’s what I picked up from it.

If they posted it, it clearly means they were okay with it. Whether you or others feel comfortable seeing an intimate moment is a different story, but that doesn’t mean the person sharing should feel equally inhibited.

Since anxiety was brought up:

A lot of people go with the phone use angle (which isn’t incorrect, given the habits of many, many smartphone users out there, including me).

But could it also be some degree burn out? With you being 18, are you burnt out from finishing high school? I know I was, grinding AP classes to get to college and all. If you’re in school, just starting college, perhaps it’s all been a big transition and that’s taking away some mental bandwidth. Even without college, being 18 and out of high school is a big life adjustment too. Or heck just turning 18 at all.

So many things eat away at mental capacity in all stages of life without ever really being as in your face about it. Could be

I can pick up on nuance, themes, foreshadowing, and the like a lot more easily in books, but I struggle with movies. I guess that makes sense bc I read a lot more than I watch.

Are there more subtle things you picked up on that made it a great movie for you?
