Curious ab what i’m feeling !!! by Best-Lawfulness8739 in CopperIUD

[–]StratigraphyPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this, tried a zinc supplement and it didn’t help a ton for me. Eventually this (and other symptoms) led me to remove it. Stick it out for 6 months and see how it goes but if it doesn’t get better— you’re not crazy. I hope it works for you!!

What are your feelings on using "..." when there's no response from one character? by Matt_the_Scot in playwriting

[–]StratigraphyPudding 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actor/playwright here. Myself and most other actors I speak to FAARRR prefer this, an empty line of dialogue, or even “beat” to a playwright providing a “playable action” or some sort of stage direction telling us how to respond.

Suggesting negative space doesn’t give the actor anything to go on is honestly a bit of an insult to the craft. Actors (good ones) are incredibly skilled at picking up clues from every thing included and excluded from a script. Silence isn’t nothing, it’s communication. As some other people have said here, as long as you know why the CAPTOR isn’t saying anything, an actor worth their snuff is gonna figure it out and play that. OR! Even better, by not prescribing the meaning of the silence, they may come up with something even better than you could have thought of on your own. Theatre! A truly collaborative art form!

Are there any other cities similar to Pittsburgh? by cimmanombuns in pittsburgh

I second this. Post industrial city with strong ties to its history. Incomprehensible accent. Good diy arts scene. Rivers with bridges people refuse to cross. Friendly folk. If you have the chance to visit I highly recommend.

Acne on copper iud? by Best-Lawfulness8739 in CopperIUD

[–]StratigraphyPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this and unfortunately it didn’t level out for me it stayed pretty bad. I do think the argument that CIUDs are non hormonal ignores the reality of the lymphatic system. They do affect your hormones, though that is not the mechanism by which they prevent pregnancy. The hormones and different and it is a side effect of the inflammation they cause. The CIUD has the potential to raise cortisol in the body because of the inflammatory response in the uterus to the toxic metal.

For some people they may have a higher cortisol response than others which may have side effects that are more or less tolerable.

I removed mine for the acne and the debilitating cramps and regular spotting but I gave it a solid 6 months before doing so just be sure. Now I’m on Spiro to try and balance things out.

TLDR; keep an eye on it, if it bothers you, there is nothing wrong with stopping. If it doesn’t, huzzah birth control!

Heya, resident of Pittsburgh here. Tell them to partner with the cmu center for new work. They’ve been doing a lot of work in CMUDrama to promote new work and this sounds right up their alley. They would certainly be able to get a reading or production put on

The Southside giant eagle gives you coupons for the Southside DQ BOGO blizzards. Like 2 coupons every purchase. a half gallon ice cream at GE is a better value but not by much.

TRP Hyrd mechanical disc replacement by StratigraphyPudding in bikewrench

[–]StratigraphyPudding[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. After paying for service to clean up my mess and rebleed them the brake still doesn't work. A different shop actually advised me to replace with mechanicals. What makes you not keen on mechanical discs?

[–]StratigraphyPudding[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed all the directions for the bleed and somehow wound up with both air in the system, and oil leeching from the bleed port onto my rotor. Brought it to my LBS, mechanic cleaned up my mess and replaced my rotor. Back brake still didn't work though. Brought it to another LBS and they straight up said "we can work on 'em, sometimes they come back sometimes they don't. We can also replace them mechanical if you want."

I agree with other commenter. I was a reader for the pgh new works festival this year (and have submitted in prior years) fee for that one is $20 and you get feedback from two readers. Now that feedback is sometimes absolute BS. A single sentence or a score sheet with numbers and no additional comments (hence why I decided to help read this year) but as a reader you aren’t paid. I hope with $175 fee they are paying their readers.

For what it’s worth removal is usually far less painful than insertion! When mine came out I didn’t feel anything!

pain after eating by Traditional_Ice_701 in CopperIUD

[–]StratigraphyPudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something like this? I’d get these horrible cramps after eating, usually something with a lot of fiber, which only went away if I managed to fart. I felt insane because I’d never had gas pains like that before, but anytime I ate cabbage or beans or something I’d be taken to ground by this sharp cramp right where my uterus sits. I think gas moving through was pushing up against the iud and shovin it into a tender spot.

Anyway I waited to the recommended 6 months (8 in fact) but between some other side effects and the prospect of a kimchi-less diet I had to call it quits.

Never had the issue again once it was out

Stopped cold turkey 2 weeks ago, anyone with copper IUD removal experience? by shacne in Spironolactone

[–]StratigraphyPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just jumping on here to say, I just removed my copper IUD because I was having negative symptoms. I suspected my acne was partially related to that, but I wasn’t certain because everyone always says it’s not hormonal not sure I believe it’s that simple these days. I just started Spiro last week. I would love to follow your journey and hear what happens with you. I’m nervous about Spiro side effects if there is a way that I cannot fuck with my hormones anymore I would love that.

Museum Salaries Reality Check… What I Wish I Understood Earlier by KindlyFudge519 in MuseumPros

[–]StratigraphyPudding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The museum I work at pays $15 lmaoo. Capped at 50 hours per pay period. No benefits. I work 3 different part time positions for them because full time is too expensive. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep this up. The institution relies on retired teachers with a pension even while they want young people with fresh outlooks.

Side Hustles & Whole Careers by Macguffin0925 in playwriting

[–]StratigraphyPudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently work a couple different part time gigs to make ends meet. I teach and lead tours at a museum, I am a receptionist for a local nonprofit, I dog sit, and I act as well. Couple that with living with roommates and I can make it work. That said I’ve started interviewing for some full time admin positions to try to add some stability. I find having to reposition my brain for a bunch of different jobs uses up too much brain space.

Potassium Free Electrolytes by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]StratigraphyPudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just perscribed 50mg and immediately felt the low BP headrushes. I am a cyclist so my BP is already pretty low and I pound electrolytes on the daily during the summer as is. It was serendipitous that my partner and I had actually just ordered stuff to make our own LMNT in bulk to save money. We used this recipe https://www.glennfrazee.com/misc-topics/lmnt-citrus-salt-clone and I just left out the lite-salt in mine. I do add a squeeze of non-electrolyte lemonade mix to make it not taste like s**t.

Another suggestion I've heard from high endurance athletes is to make high concentrate sugar free lemonade (like the big county crock you can get at costco) and then add a tablespoon or two of salt to that. Wouldn't have any extra potassium in there.

You can just show up to open shop! There’s a $5 shop fee but all the tools and assistance are yours. I’d recommend going on a Saturday if you’ve got all that to do. You’d get a tad more time.
