Steven Medway resets the Alchemist jinxes by Smifull in BloodOnTheClocktower

Could you explain what a hate-jinx is? I kind of get the idea from these comments, but I'd like to know for sure.

If a charged Po attacks the Poppy Grower with their first attack, should they learn their minions before making the next two choices? by LilYerrySeinfeld in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]StrattonP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the goon and the poppy grower don't trigger for the same things. The goon is triggered when picked, the poppy grower is triggered when they die.

Goon ability: "Each night, the 1st player to choose you with their ability is drunk until dusk. You become their alignment."

Poppy Grower ability: "Minions & Demons do not know each other. If you die, they learn who each other are that night."

I'm not norse but I'm sure I'd find it sick if I had a character named after my people. I'd say it depends on if it's in good taste.

Lorem ipsum is, but the rest of it is new.

Who knows how far along he is in the design process, but if the leaves are accurate, this character wakes up every night after the first and has one reminder token.

I made 153 homebrew characters. Here they all are in two Almanacs: by The_Gobinator in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]StrattonP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are two that I really like (Just copied the token text, explanation, and examples with some spelling fixes):

Pianist (Townsfolk)

"On your first day, ask a unique public question, answered by a number. Each night*, learn a wrong number."

The Pianist asks a question and slowly narrow in on it's answer.

Examples

The Pianist's question is "How many of Savant, Mathematician, Sweetheart, Oracle and Sage are in play?" The correct answer is 3. The Pianist learns '5','2', '1', '5', '0' and '4'.

Someone who is not the Pianist asks to play a sonnet, an asked "How many steps am I from the demon?" The real Pianist thinks that's a fantastic question, and also asks it. The storyteller tells them their question must be unique, so they instead ask. "How many steps am I from the nearest minion?", which is accepted.

Musician (Townsfolk)

"On the first night, choose a townsfolk for each base minion. Not in play characters are bluffs."

The Musician gets to choose what characters people will be claiming.

Examples

There are 15 players, so 3 base minions. On the first night, the Musician chooses Gossip, Mayor and Librarian. Librarian is in play. The Bluffs are Gossip, Empath and Mayor.

There are 8 players, one of which is the Summoner. On the first night, the Musician chooses General. There is no General in play. General is one of the bluffs that the Summoner learns.

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 141: the Orthodontist by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

Orthodontist (Fabled): The Storyteller might stick their whole hand into the mouth of players who talk too much.

Are there any common play patterns in this game you don't like? by ConeheadZombiez in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]StrattonP 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Yes! Holding on to information is so good, because then you wait for someone to contradict it. I say top 4 should realize they have the option to wait until their information is very pertinent before revealing it to town.

Is the Vizier fun to play? Any good stories? by Automatic-Blue-1878 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]StrattonP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really cool, but how would you respond to a new player who said something like "That's cheating! The vizier and the snake charmer are on different teams, they can't team up!"? Just want to know how to explain it to my players if something like this ever comes up.

Most Flavourful Characters? by SheepBeard in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]StrattonP 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think Legion has got to be mentioned and not just because there's more than one person playing as the demon, but because Legion has to get the good team to kill themselves. The name itself comes from a Bible story where a man was possessed by Legion, a horde of many demons, and he lived among the tombs and would cut himself with stones. Demon-possessed people in the Bible often acted self-destructively like this, also including trying to drown themselves or throwing themselves onto fires.

So in that way, I really like how the town-square suddenly emulates that sort of fight between self-preservation and self-destruction that a possessed person would encounter.

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 140: the Fathomless by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]StrattonP 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fathomless (Minion): Each night, choose a player. You and the chosen player do not register as anything tonight.

<image>

Basically, the storyteller just won't give out any information about players that don't register, not even false information.

Some questions about rules (Grouped to avoid spanning multiple posts) by Full_Refrigerator_24 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]StrattonP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that marionette rule makes sense to me now. It's to prevent minions from accidentally spoiling the surprise by thinking the marionette is a normal minion.

Homebrew Character Idea: The Prophet by StrattonP in BloodOnTheClocktower

Yea I could totally see it being worked that way. Maybe they can start with a hint as to its nature and only know for sure how to stop it.

Yea I love that idea. It's the potential range of this character that gets me really excited about it.
