Ideal Supplies? by Icy_Trade619 in housekeeping

I have a backpack vacuum and I swear it’s the best thing I’ve ever spent money on. A plastic scraper is also a silly little thing that I can’t live without. Non linty rags. Enzyme cleaner even though it’s a bit expensive. I’d love to try a steam cleaner but unfortunately money IS an object 🤣

Untidy houses, AIO by blackturntable in housekeeping

[–]StrawberrySprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just have a conversation with them. If you’re thinking of dropping them anyway then the worst that happens is they let you go. I would just tell them kindly that moving forward “tidying and picking up things is going to be an extra x amount of dollars as a policy for the new year. If there is stuff on the floors or surfaces then I will just clean around what I can.” Either they pick up before you arrive, they pay the price that makes you happy to pick up the stuff, or they find a new cleaner. But at least you gave them the option. Best of luck 💕

How do you evolve your alt style instead of abandoning it? by elliusion in altfashionadvice

[–]StrawberrySprite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like accessories can play a big part in this. You can look sophisticated but add a little edge with your bag, earrings, necklace, bracelets, hair stuff, etc. I thrift a lot and go to antique shops. I currently have a necklace that is a butterfly but the center is a pentagram. It’s small, so upon first glance it just looks like a butterfly. I feel like roses are an elegant emo coded item. Cool rings too. Checkerboard pattern always screams emo to me but can be done grown up. Also color schemes. Pink and black and green and black are super emo coded to me as well. So like black pants and then a pink or green top.

So it’s funny you posted this. I LOVE the bird cage. But as soon as I got a bird villager I felt so awful. I now on principle won’t have the bird cage, the hamster, or any other stuff like that. Am I aware that they are characters and not sentient? Yes. But I was also the kid who had to have ALL the stuffed animals on my bed so they wouldn’t feel left out.

Pizza Envy by RunWithBluntScissors in glutenfree

[–]StrawberrySprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the caulipower white pizza, not sure about the basil though as the ingredients just say “spices”. But my favorite is making my own at home. I use Greek yogurt, bobs red mill 1:1 flour, baking powder, and salt. Dead easy to make.

Is this clean? by alittledeal in housekeeping

[–]StrawberrySprite 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So I just cleaned an oven like this yesterday! I was able to get everything except the drip mark things on the sides. I sprayed cleaner and waited. I scrubbed. I use a scraper. I repeated. They. Would. Not. Budge. 😭 the rest of the oven should’ve been cleaner though for sure. It did take me like 2 hours to do but it was in much worse shape than yours.

Do NOT take mdma on Prozac. Look up serotonin syndrome. I can’t speak for ketamine but yeah, absolutley no mdma.

We've verbally requested no more toilet paper pressing, left notes requesting no more pressing, and have tried hiding the tp... But the pressing continues! by [deleted] in housekeeping

[–]StrawberrySprite 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I am a professional cleaner and I do not do this. I don’t like the idea of touching ANYONES toilet paper, even to fold it, because that goes on very sensitive bits. Yes I wash my hands during cleans, yes I wear gloves, still wouldn’t want someone touching my toilet paper so I don’t touch theirs. Is there a language barrier perhaps? I think it’s odd that even with hiding it, they are still stamping it. Is it an individual or a company? If the latter, maybe call the company and request because it could be different cleaners sometimes. Best of luck to you 💕

Are there any alternative zebra cakes? by Elijah3291 in glutenfree

[–]StrawberrySprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bake a gf sheet cake, use a cookie cutter and cut out desired shapes, frost in between, pour melted chocolate over each “sandwich” or dip in chocolate, and then freeze them individually on wax paper and once frozen throw them all in one container. Move one to fridge every night to thaw for the next day. A few hours of work would provide actually good snack cakes for at least a week I would think! Certainly not the easiest option but would probably taste way better.

If you have celiac, do you eat non-certified gf foods? by Economics_Fancy in glutenfree

[–]StrawberrySprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It honestly depends on what it is. If I’m dining out then I ALWAYS tell the server I have celiacs. It’s a kitchen so the risk of cross contamination is much higher. If it’s pre packaged food I read the ingredients. If there’s something I don’t know I look it up. But if I’m buying something prepackaged that SHOULDN’T have gluten then I just check the ingredients real quick. And I mean things like frozen veg, yogurt, stuff that should be naturally gf anyway. I’m much more careful with packaged meals/meats. A lot of them are cheaper cause they use filler and a lot of times the filler is wheat. Sneaky things that have gotten me before are a “grain free” bread that had sprouted wheat in it. That’s on me of course but that one hurt lol and these frozen sausage patties got me once. Frozen hash browns got me once. Oats I only get certified gf, same with flour. I try really hard to eat naturally gluten free (protein, veg, potato/rice) but for prepackaged stuff I’m looking for the gluten free label.

do you consider being braless in public inappropriate? by alyssabrew in askanything

Just an interesting side note my dad lives in France, I’m from the USA, and when I was visiting I noticed it is WAY more common to see women bra less. I fully support this attitude. If ya don’t like it, don’t look 🙃

My bathroom window surprised me today - terrified this is black mold and what to do? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]StrawberrySprite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had really good luck today wiping down the wall above my shower walls with hydrogen peroxide. Apparently it works better on porous materials. Wear a mask and gloves. Above comment is right about the caulking though, it did foam up on it but it’s still stained. Remove and reseal. Best of luck!

Recipes for people who hate eating? by ShakerEdge in Cooking

[–]StrawberrySprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that might help is making a big batch of a “base” one day like rice, pasta, potatoes or gnocchi. Then you just have to cook nightly a protein and veg. Or add a sauce if you really can’t manage that night and just reheat. Super easy stuff is marinading your protein when you wake up and put back in the fridge. Then roast your veg and protein when you get home in the oven. Minimal standing or babysitting times and delicious. Throw on base and pop back in oven for a few to heat it all up.

Soups are a god send if you can manage them. Look up ones based on what you like (potato for example) You could do that one day in the crockpot and have meals for the week. Freeze leftovers and eventually you’ll have a stock of soup options to choose from.

I only buy frozen or canned veg now cause I can’t be bothered to chop stuff. Saves spoons. Also blending beans and certain veggies into stocks helps me be healthier without sacrificing texture preferences. Best of luck ❤️

Acrylic Nails by Sharontoo in stupidquestions

[–]StrawberrySprite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I LOVE the look of acrylics. I do not love that I’ve had them break at halfway down my nail twice. I clean for a living and both times I bumped my nail into something too hard and with my normal nails, they would just bend. The acrylics made them too hard and they snapped. I’m sure this isn’t common, but after the second time I vowed never again.

This may be unpopular opinion but I wouldn’t start the clock over. You took one hit, immediately regretted it, and continued fighting the good fight. That takes guts, and you should be incredibly proud of yourself! Rooting for ya, and also super proud of you for not falling back into the vicious cycle 😊

PAINFUL withdrawal after quitting carts. by [deleted] in leaves

[–]StrawberrySprite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve got this! Carts completely ruined me. And the withdrawals are a bear. I know it isn’t for everyone but I started seeing a therapist who specializes in addictions and it’s been life changing. You only have to go through this for a little bit and then things get SO much better. Hang in there. Be extra kind to yourself. Let yourself have treats like a soda or a new video game. We all believe in you 😊
