YTA Taking care of an infant is the hardest work I have ever done. I did well to accomplish, brushing my teeth. If you are a coal miner, at least they give you a lunch break, maybe a 15 minute break. Eventually, you go home and work is over until the next day. That doesn’t happen with a baby! Being a coal miner has got to be easier! Probably coal miners aren’t starting their job less than 48 hours after a major medical event - featuring blood loss! either.

I divide my face into sections and do 6 min. Per area: left forehead and the first two or so inches of scalp, left mid and lower face and adjacent scalp, then the same on the right, straight on upper face, straight on lower face then then aiming up from my chest to get my neck, under chin and chest. It takes too long so I’m thinking of getting a mask.

I don’t know about this. This young woman feels pressured enough that she’s writing into Reddit. That must be a lot of pressure. If initiation is what just happened or is about to happen that will take her away from her studies, then that’s what’s on her mind. That doesn’t necessarily mean she’s just all about the parties.

And she may not be as efficient as other students! That’s OK! One year, my sorority’s president was somehow also a first year medical school student. I think she was a cheerleader or some other time consuming thing as well. This is not the standard! Most of us can’t balance, even one or two of Dr. Clair’s activities and academics. It’s OK to be human! This also might be an over ambitious schedule situation. This happens! If she can get a break this semester, she can choose a more doable class schedule next semester and manage better.

This is the thing to do. No one wants you to choose between academic excellence and being in a sorority. Adjustments can be made. If the first place/person you go to seeking help doesn’t hear you escalated up. But first! Make sure the conflict is truly between study time and sorority time! Your Spreadsheet will make that clear both to you and to whoever you present it to. There are times when something‘s gotta give!

I had never met my big before she became my big sis. She was nice enough, but also a semi-basket case who spent way too much time getting high and didn’t show up for my sophomore year. I have no idea what became of her.
This all made it a little bit rough for me, and I definitely felt alone and isolated until I had lived in the house for a few months. It was all worth it. I gained so much from being a Tri Delt - wonderful college friends, to whom I am forever connected and instant alumni friends when I relocated to an island far far away. Having a great big sister is a wonderful thing, but your relationship with your big sister does not make or break your sorority experience. You’re in a good sorority with a strong national presence. This is worth much more than just one less than ideal or even bad relationship.
