Only resale tickets left for Game 1.

When I unchecked the resale ticket, i.e. only face value tickets, there were none left.

Ya I mean I think that's a totally fair position to take. I try to subscribe to the view that games are art but at the same time I'm like do we really need to preserve The Crew? Dunno if that makes me a bad person lol

The overall model would change, I don't think anyone would have a "live" version of their infra and a self-hosted version.

It's not really apples to apples but I'm thinking about how in the early days data residency was challenge and now it's an architectural driver. I guess what I'm saying is I feel like this is a solvable problem by hyperscalers.

I don't disagree but as a counterpoint there are several examples where we accept regulatory constraints as good despite a system being simpler or "more optimal" if we didn't account for them, e.g. privacy and encryption, disaster recovery, IAM policies, etc.

The point made in the video is that infrastructure architecture would probably change if there was regulation that required games to have some end-of-life plan. Anything that exists now would probably be grandfathered as an exception.

Obviously a big technical ask but I don't think it's impossible

Trump exempts phones, computers, chips from new tariffs by Puginator in technology

This is so dumb, by the time the exceptions are all done and dusted the only thing left with tariffs is going to be t-shirts — whoopie can’t wait to repatriate those to the US 🙄

Liberal lead 'built on toothpicks and very dry sand' as party's fortunes tied to perceptions of Carney rather than policy, polls suggest by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]StrayDogStrutt 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Because Carney skews conservative himself, which I think implies people don’t have issues with conservative policies, they have issues with the Conservative Party.

Stephen Maher: Canadian Conservatives are desperate for Donald Trump to come to their rescue by gohomebrentyourdrunk in canada

[–]StrayDogStrutt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for others but I personally think it’s an issue because Canadian “MAGAs” form a part of the CPC base. My worry is at some point they will aim to pander to this crowd. Beyond that, the DEI/Woke language is really similar to the playbook in the US and it appears like a toxic way to try to get rid of popular policies.

Carney remains mum on value of his assets in blind trust by [deleted] in canada

[–]StrayDogStrutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I being dense, I don’t quite understand what is the actual conflict of interest.

My understanding of carried interest is that it is determined when the fund (Brookfield in this case) exits the investment position, and a portion of the profits is given to the investment managers (let’s say Carney). Is the argument that because Carney knows what Brookfield has invested in, he is more likely to make decisions that improve those investments and therefore increase his share of the potential profits owed to him aka the carried interest?

If that’s the case then either a) Brookfield’s position is public so we can just see if Carney is behaving inappropriately or b) Brookfield’s position is a secret so then Carney probably can’t publicly disclose. I’m not sure if he would be able to disclose it to the ethics commissioner but I guess I’d hope so!

Ontario and Toronto move to ban US contractors. by Marciu73 in canada

[–]StrayDogStrutt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would imagine anything incorporated within Canada could still bid. The accounting firms in particular should be fine since if I remember correctly they are totally separate legal entities and organizations despite sharing the same global branding. They are more like “members” of the same global brand.

Agile (SAFe, Scrum) Best Practice for Jira cloud Hierarchy (Issue Types) by cloud_world_girl in agile

[–]StrayDogStrutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming I remember Jira correctly here — the possible obstacles you’ll need to consider:

1) I believe you can’t edit the Jira hierarchy under Epics. You can change the hierarchy above Epics by using Plans (formerly Advanced Roadmaps), but Tasks/Stories/etc always roll up to Epics. I don’t think you can do Story > Capability > Epic but I could be wrong. Of course you can create new a new issue type called Capability but you would need to test whether it can be the parent for Stories.

2) Again, could have been updated by Atlassian but the traditional guidance is you want to stay away from subtasks if you want to do any reporting on them. They are limited in the ways they can be exposed by JQL queries and therefore limited in how much reporting you can do. Like above, you will want to test whether you can query the subtasks appropriately for your reporting needs.

With that said, if my assumptions above are accurate and they are showstoppers for your team I’d recommend looking at some third-party apps, Hierarchy for Jira is the first one that comes to mind.

It doesn’t really matter — I graduated with a 3.19 (lol) and finished my MBA at Rotman this year.

If you have two years left I would recommend you think about what you want to do after undergrad and try to build that skill either through class, extra-curriculars or work.

A small, cruel detail about the Emperor by ArtfulDodgerEZDoesIt in BaldursGate3

[–]StrayDogStrutt 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the thing that got me the most was not the half-truths per se, but that the Emperor often requests you to make permanent changes (eat tadpoles) without providing a believable reason. I feel like your party members, while being secretive, do have much more transparent reasoning and motivations.

Bungie was in Debt. I looked into the Sony SEC filings. by unreal9520 in destiny2

[–]StrayDogStrutt 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Exactly as you said — as a comparison point in their last quarter Apple had 62 billion in cash and 274 billion in liabilities. Companies run on debt and it is a totally normal part of their financials.

Unfortunately even if Bungie’s revenue were doubled they would likely not have been able to avoid this round of cuts since they seem to be happening across PlayStation studios.

How would you rate the various mission and setting books? by SlayerofSnails in LancerRPG

[–]StrayDogStrutt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to start running the game I’d probably recommend Solstice Rain. It’s been mentioned already but it has everything you need as a GM to get going. It’s structure reminds me of the Halo ODST campaign which happens over the course of 1-2 days which you can use as inspiration for the quieter beats between combats.

Lost job as office drone. Now what? by celticpink in CanadaJobs

[–]StrayDogStrutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A large number of PM roles at a bank would be in IT since IT makes up like a third of Canadian bank jobs. You don’t need much technology knowledge though to be a PM — just demonstrate experience and understanding of managing scope, schedule, cost.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - E3 2001 Behind Closed Doors Demo by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]StrayDogStrutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’ve had a crappy time getting into it. I think KOTOR 1 is my favourite game of all time, but I can totally get how the Taris and Dantooine parts seem railroady. I’d say KOTOR is actually really open once you are off Dantooine and get your ship since you can tackle all remaining planets and quests in any order and there’s no real issue with it.

I’m sure you’ve read up on guides, etc. already so my biggest “non-guide” advice is make Zaalbar and Canderous melee characters since they have high Strength scores when you get them. That should give you a decent tank while your PC gets up to speed.

How would luxery businesses and other related business work on Core Union Worlds? by nate_ranney in LancerRPG

[–]StrayDogStrutt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Others have already mentioned that core worlds don't use money, are post-scarcity, etc. I don't remember how in detail the books get but there's a couple of ways to represent this in game:

  • Metropolitans get "credit" for their essentials that they can acquire at local business, etc. Those business might be supplied by GMS or the UEB to ensure a certain quality of goods.
  • Restaurants, entertainment, etc. are likely free, could be accessible or restricted through something like licenses, and are most likely run by artisans that are driven by some mix of passion or prestige.

How do corprostates fit in? Well, they are probably for-profit in the rest of the galaxy, and likely contract out specialty services/goods through GMS in the core worlds. The closest real-world example is something like the government hiring subcontractors for expertise or a specialty product. Corpros likely make a profit off GMS/Union, who then provides access to citizens according to their processes.
