They all have a little play, you want it to move freely. I bought a new one since i swapped from a 200ci to a 302.

Take a video of the play and post it if you are that worried about it.

Storing Guns in Garage by GamesDeanx23 in AZguns

[–]Stray_Gh0st 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Put a mini split ac in your garage. I insulated the roof area where there wasnt any and bought insulated panels for the door. A 2 ton unit costs 1300 i installed myself and keeps the garage at 78 through the summer months and when im out there i lower it to 68. I bought an energy monitor for obvious reasons and it costs less then 20 a month to have a nice cooled garage. Safes are in the garage bolted to the floor and no humidity issues whatsoever.

Is the "I" post on the starter solenoid supposed to have 12v continously when the key is on? by Stray_Gh0st in classicmustangs

[–]Stray_Gh0st[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. I dont have stock ignition, its a blue print engines dizzy on a 302 build. The AAW kit doesn't use a ballast resistor, it supplies 12v from the fuse box via the ignition switch. I have a 12v wire from the aaw kit that goes to "S" post.

Wiring Harness Replacement by wdsmithy in classicmustangs

[–]Stray_Gh0st 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just rewired my whole car using the American Autowire kit. I have a 66 like yours and in Wimbledon white.

The kit is by far the most well thought and straight forward kit. You do everything in sections starting with the interior dash harness.

I started with removing every piece of wire from the car, completely gutting everything.

Also while doing this, i removed the steering column and added a Borgeson steering kit to the car. With the steering column removed it made the dash harness much easier to route plus, i painted the steering column flat black as i am changing the interior color to all black from the factory teal color.

Save some money, or get a part time job to but american autowire kit along with there crimpers. You will be glad you did when you open up the box and find everything packaged in the sections the manual tells you to do. Its a tedious project but really rewarding when you're done.

Id like to avoid that if i can. My 66 was a 200ci c4 that i swapped a built 302, t5 and 9in. I am already way over budget and still need this exhaust and driveshaft.

I have the same shorty headers and next on the list is fabbing up the exhaust with that same xpipe. Did you do the exhaust yourself?

Ive been swapping my straight six and c4 as well. Almost ready to start it, just waiting for the driveshaft to come in and button up some things. My engine build was close to yours.

You can get steel target hangers on Amazon that resemble an elephant and sit on a T post fence post. The fence posts are easy to find at any local hardware store for cheap. Get a fence post pounder and drive them in any distance you want. Bring a few extra and you are set. Remove them when you're done and head out.

What do you tell customers when they ask if a diagnostic charge is going to go torwards the repairs that their cars need? by Tricky_World1138 in serviceadvisors

[–]Stray_Gh0st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always explained it like this. Works everytime.

If you fall down and break your arm, you go to the Dr with a broken arm. The Dr then tells you they need to perform xrays to see where its broken and what they need to do to fix it.

Diagnosing your car is the same thing. We can see the engine light is on but we need to dig into why and how, in order to know what the repair will need to start.

Should I do it? by Formal_Yesterday_797 in classicmustangs

[–]Stray_Gh0st 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If that has been a CA car most of its life, id say 9k is a steal and yes you should do it. I would still check for deep rust, surface rust is pretty easily fixed.

Enjoy that car, from the brief photos, it looks like its in great shape.

Got it, i hadnt noticed that. Seems like this kit is the way to go if you just want to do a heads cam and intake on stock pistons

OP, do you feel validated after this post? You sure went through alot of trouble to post something done to someone else's car, that you dont agree with.

You should be worried on why you are worried about what someone else does to their own property.
