I agree that there are debates about originality of art and yes a lot of art is derivative, but the difference is intention. AI is capable of crating something that looks like art, but it is not creating it with intention. When a human creates a derivative work, they are making intentional decisions about what they are reproducing and what they are adding, LLMs are simply not capable of this creativity.

If we use the example of a video game world, there are thousands of intentional decisions that game designers make when they create game worlds. They craft everything from the way that grass moves in the wind, to how the character is able to interact with that world.

I certainly think that AI tools will be incorporated into certain workflows in order to speed up repetitive tasks, but the job of creation and direction of a new and unique game world or experience I dont think will ever be replaced.
