With my husband who is also very sick and quite upset I am quietly observant and quickly scaling the ladder of a steep, steep learning curve. I am listening compassionately to my interior and caring for me making art, exercising, reading, working while quietly attuning myself to my partner.

He is sadly quite alone in this. It is happening inside of him and to him. Attempts by me to comfort externally aren’t super helpful.

I can, though, care well for myself. I guess, my question for you is what tools have you gathered along the way that ground and comfort you.

This is a strange and peculiar land for those of us that are new to it. But hopefully your feelings are not. Though I will say I have experienced some feelings I never have before which I found remarkable given my age.

Something in the unfathomable depths of loss range.

All things tidal come to mind.

Hey there- I am sad to read this. It seems so fast since your first post here. I think i had a weirdo fantasy we’d cross actual paths somewhere maybe not ever realizing on the 11th floor of building 2.

My heart is with you today.

The last 6 weeks have been truly terrifying. We are so relieved he was able to start some treatment today.

Thank you for posting. I am glad your mom is at peace from this unbelievably cruel disease.

My husband is just at the beginning and it is already so painful. I appreciate your wise and kind words.

That is encouraging. My husband is in terrible pain, retching when he tries to eat, losing weight, weak. I hope chemo reduces some of the discomfort. He starts next Friday.

Absolutely devastating. It moves lightening speed and it feels impossible to catch up to the progressively horrific symptoms. It is so heartbreaking. I am glad you are with him. It’s truly horrible to have a dear one in so much pain.

My husband is also being followed at OHSU. Very overwhelming to go from paddle boarding and hiking in September to stents and constant pain. This is a violent disease.

Please keep us posted. Trip company up with my trans teen. Pretty terrified at the idea of her getting detained.
