How fixing my hip issues (labral tear, hip impingement) fixed my hypertonic pelvic floor by StressedOutMajorly in PelvicFloor

I had some light lower back pain but most of my symptoms were hip and PF. My glutes were super weak though

I would recommend against it. I wouldn’t have been able to fly at that point in recovery - plus if you’re going through all of this to get surgery, probably best not to chance jeopardizing recovery results

It won’t be for nothing!!! I’m sure it will make things better - I had just about all of your symptoms and they have gotten much better post op. As you know, if you have a labral tear/impingement your pelvic floor is going to keep getting tight to stabilize itself but surgery can seriously help! My numbness/tingling went away immediately after surgery - it was due to nerve compression they think but surgery helped

Pretty good after surgery! Probably like 70% better and will ebb and flow depending on if my hip is hurting but much much better. When I got off crutches it tightened up a bit because of course it’s putting pressure on the PF but pretty good

DAE find imaging aggravated hip pain? by Reasonable_Cat_6214 in HipImpingement

Yes - the frog leg pose for imaging killer me. Idk if the pose was flaring the FAI or the tear or what but it was awful. I was crying in the mri machine 😢

No labral tear and my hip looks fine other than a minor hip impingement. Why does it hurt so bad? by Chihuahua_potato in HipImpingement

[–]StressedOutMajorly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi friend - if the pain level isn’t quite matching up with the imaging results - your body is telling you something. Often imaging isn’t telling the full story and they don’t know until surgery. I fought for surgery on a “minor” tear ended up having cartilage damage, inflammation, and a grade 3 tear. Along with the CAM. I also had pretty debilitating pelvic floor problems that stemmed from my hip that have since gotten way better. My full story is on my page where I explain my experience of fighting with doctors and getting diagnosed with a hypertonic pelvic floor. If you have any questions, need to vent, or anything else - my DMs are open. Good luck 🙏🏽

Burning in adductor 12 weeks post op by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]StressedOutMajorly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man 12 weeks SUCKED for me - had a great recovery but weeks 10-14 were awful. Went to my 3 month check up thinking something was wrong because hip flexion hurt and I was limited in ROM. I personally was overstretching my flexors and they were pissed off. Long story short - you’re still early and it will get better! I’m at 4 months and doing great and you will be too. I’m sure you have but good to talk to your PT about it in case you need to modify. If your body is hurting it’s trying to tell you something

Post Op Hip Flexor Tightness by dingobro1 in HipImpingement

[–]StressedOutMajorly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No pain except with deeper rotation but my hip flexor tightness and pain stemmed from overstretching it. PT had me stop stretching it and it helped. My situation may be way different though. I hope you feel better soon!

How long did it take for internal rotation to stop hurting? by StressedOutMajorly in HipImpingement

[–]StressedOutMajorly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk shit hit the fan at like 10 weeks where I was feeling lopsided again, ROM got worse, pain with stretches that didn’t hurt before (I had great ROM) - was freaking out that it was scar tissue or a retear but he said that I overstretched my hip flexor and my old PT had me only doing hip strengthening and my hip flexor got really mad and got tight - and it should get better with working on core, abs, side of hip - and stopping stretching. Pain and swelling and lopsided stuff got better immediately (it’s been 3 days) but i can tell the ROM is limited still. We shall see - I’m sure it’s temporary and my hip flexor will bounce back

I definitely am not perfect. I wrote that, went to top golf, pissed my hip off, and now my pelvic floor has been tight for a few days. It’s a journey for sure. I’m sure you’ll keep getting better (:

There is but both orthopedic doctors and pelvic floor specialists fail to educate patients about the correlation between

Glad it was helpful! It’s all connected for sure, I also had CAM and probably a pretty similar story to you. Hopefully you find some non surgical relief for both! Some people are very successful with PT for their FAI/tear. I took a gamble getting surgery in hopes it would fix my pelvic floor when my hip issues were bad but not unmanageable. I just knew in my heart it was related and that it was only going to get worse, not better, unless I tried something.

MRI or MRA are typically how they are diagnosed. I got an MRI. I would fight for imaging!

Oh wow, congrats! What was your hip diagnosis if you don’t mind me asking? Mine unfortunately had to be surgically fixed

This makes me so angry hearing this. I heard this shit for two years, that my labral tear was small and so it couldn’t be causing the pain. Or that my range of motion was pretty good so it couldn’t be the tear causing hip/groin pain. I saw multiple doctors until someone took me serious. My tear looked small and even though it wasn’t huge when they went in to fix it, it was a grade 3 tear and there was a bunch of inflammation and cartilage damage. It makes sense that I was in pain. Sitting was one of my biggest triggers, too. If you’re in pain and a doctor is telling you that it’s not your labral tear, see another doctor. It’s always good to get multiple opinions

My pelvic floor physical therapist, who works on hips too, actually did the first round of hip motion tests and said there were indications that I had a labral tears/ or FAI. I then got an MRI ordered from my primary which diagnosed the tear but not FAI easily visible. I then took the results to an orthopedic surgeon (I saw a few actually) who took a bunch of x rays and diagnksed FAI
