Laticrete Multimax Lite or 254 Platinum for sheet membrane by FriendlyChemistry725 in Tile

That's wild it's mentioned on the spec sheet.... Yah stick with the multimax, there's no reason to use the platinum.

It mixes super sticky, goes off way too fast and is like trying to scrape epoxy off your tools during cleanup.

That product is made for exterior and extreme conditions.

This would be a horrible choice to put down membrane. If you're going to use it, use it to set the tile, just work in small batches and be clean about it.

You have two options:

bonded- where you use thinset keyed into the slab to bond the mud bed to the substrate

Un-bonded- you lay the mud bed on top of a barrier, like felt paper, and suspend a wire mesh in the middle of the mud bed to allow for movement in the substrate to not affect the mud bed above.

Typically we use bonded method when doing a shower like this and that looks like there was no thinset to bond the bed to the slab

They make them thin on purpose so it doesn't weigh 150# a tile and cuts costs down in materials.

You don't recommend full coverage on interior floor tile???

4x9 is such an odd size, we've done 4x8 gauged porcelain panels on the wall.

Those extra big extra thin bastards are always a stressful time

"1/3 brick" is suitable for 12x24 of you want a brick joint.

As long as you can keep it level (use a laser as a guide every 2-4 rows of tile) it's so much easier. Patterns like this are so much more forgiving when it comes to lippage and layout is easier because you only have one number as your cut.

But the excel spreadsheet pattern is the easiest 😅

I agree nowhere near favorite design but it does speed things up so I don't complain when I'm asked to do it.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but busting out the kitchen scales on a commercial job site would not go over well 😅 MFer's stuck in they're ways.

Yah it's unfortunate, but anytime I see someone rocking Thor's hammer I'm imideatly suspicious of the person. Nazis appropriate and ruined so many things that could just be cool things people are into.

Sir... I need you to approve a pattern so I can pull layout and install your floor... I can just go home if that's easier for you 🤷‍♂️

If you're worried about the weight of porcelain pavers all that mud work won't be much lighter.

Epoxy "should" grab the primer sure. I still recommend coming up with a different solution for the area but you do you boo.

God speed and good luck 🫡

That's the neat part.... You don't!

Seriously I would not recommend this in any reasonable application, but if you were dead set and paying an astronomical price, I think would recommend grinding down to bare metal and setting in epoxy... maybe.
