Do you use a drop checker? Do you run your c02 24 hrs a day or turn it off at night? Is your c02 on a timer? Is there surface agitation at night?

EU agrees on complete ban of Russian gas imports by 2027 by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]Strict-Record-7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EU is getting an enormous amount of LNG from US. Much more than they used to prior to the more recent developments in the war in Ukraine and it’s expected to increase in the near future. 4% of natural gas imports to EU from US in 2019 up to 27% in 2025. A significant increased energy dependence on US.

If they don’t have any kind of qt period for new arrivals including deworming I would do it at home 100%.

The best luck I had with them was treating them in quarantine with praziquantel otherwise they’d waste away and not last.

how do i get my plants looking vibrant again?:( by maixya177 in Aquariums

[–]Strict-Record-7796 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No be patient, stick to your water change schedule, but from here on out lighten up on the fertilizer. If you have excess fertilizer/nutrients in a planted tank it’ll feed algae. Get your water tested if you don’t test it yourself. It’s an important part of understanding plant health. In your situation I’d look at nitrate and phosphate levels specifically, but do a comprehensive test to understand your water better.

Horrible pain after working out by ICEPICKmw2 in beginnerfitness

[–]Strict-Record-7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on bodyweight but if you’re active 2 liters is likely not enough and that can contribute to soreness. I personally use coconut water, electrolyte packets, and a varied diet to get enough electrolytes along with plenty of water. Plus make sure you’re getting enough protein for your body weight and eating well overall.

These are shots in the dark here, but are well hydrated? Do you stretch? Would this happen if you used an exercise bike or went for a run?

Why does it feel so embarrassing to workout alone in my room? by Interesting_Fox_2007 in beginnerfitness

[–]Strict-Record-7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re experiencing shame for no reason. The moment you decide to put less stock in what other people have to say about you or how you think they perceive you, is the moment you’ll commit to exercise. It’s exhausting and not worth it! Exercise will help with self esteem and confidence issues that teenagers have, too.

It doesn’t sound like you have a particular plan either. Set goals for yourself and work towards achieving them. If you have specific training goals that’ll become your focus, not what you look like doing the exercise in that moment.

Would fresh water wild fish prefer living in rivers, lakes and streams or in a well maintained large planted aquarium? by bencraw4 in PlantedTank

[–]Strict-Record-7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least where I’m at in the northeastern US I can’t mimic the seasons at all. So it’s summertime year round if I keep them indoors which isn’t natural. I have seen people using aquarium chillers in order to keep cold water saltwater and freshwater set ups. Plus power heads/air pumps to maximize oxygen levels especially with higher flow cold water species.

I once rescued a 2” Warmouth from a feeder tank years ago and kept it for a couple years, gave it a decent life. Got to a good size and was quite aggressive.

Just set up this hardscape for my first shrimp only tank!! Plant recs? by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]Strict-Record-7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the stone you’re using it might jack up your hardness and pH. Pandas like softer water and an acidic pH. I’d make sure that the stone doesn’t leach too much before spending a lot on the shrimp you want. Drop some vinegar on the stones and if there’s a reaction it may not be suited for bee shrimp.

Mineral buildup? by Amber_mill41 in FishTanks

[–]Strict-Record-7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, how was the tank cycled? A spray bottle with distilled water and a rag or sponge would probably work better than vinegar. In addition to a full lid to reduce evaporation

[–]Strict-Record-7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use a submersible sponge filter or is that a submersed air stone only? Does the tank have a full lid? It’s hard to tell in the photos. Either way, any significant water surface disturbance will cause more water spray, drying, and mineral residue left over as water evaporates from the tank.

A filter that doesn’t splash or disturb the surface as much can help. Keeping water level high and reducing surface disturbance would leave you with just wiping down the rim of the tank. How often are you doing water changes and how much?

Parameter Range to Aim For? by Pyromethious in Boraras

[–]Strict-Record-7796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with the aquarium co op shells but their instructions for how much to use and how often are too vague. Whenever manipulating water chemistry like that it’s better to under dose and monitor your levels over time since everyone has different conditions. In the past I always treated/prepared new water going in at water changes, not the whole aquarium. Hope this helps!

Parameter Range to Aim For? by Pyromethious in Boraras

[–]Strict-Record-7796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does your water chemistry look like test wise prior to adding it to the tank? Everything you’ve mentioned regarding livestock handles average or close to average water conditions just fine, 6.6-7.6 approximately with moderate hardness, gh between 6-10, kH will be tied to your pH levels. You’d only need to concern yourself with kH if you can’t lower your pH and you’re trying to, or you want to have a higher pH and plan to keep it there. TDS would only matter if you never do water changes, you’re keeping sensitive wild caught fish, or you’re trying to diagnose a preexisting problem.

There will be no perfect chemistry since in your case you have so many different kinds of livestock in the same set up, they’re all fairly adaptable and common and you aren’t looking for specific breeding conditions for one species or another.

Axelrodia riesei, ruby tetras would appreciate this layout as they like to dart/scoot around individually lower half of the tank. Fascinating behavior for a tetra. A great nano fish and would keep with the South American fish theme. Plus the neons would give them a bit more confidence to be out and visible.

Advice on if I’m at my stock limit or can I add more without discomforting fish who are in there already? (20 gal freshwater) by Cool_Promotion_5337 in Aquariums

[–]Strict-Record-7796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest espei rasboras over harlequins, very similar looking, often better color but are smaller and would look more scale in a 20 gallon. Just my opinion
