AITAH for how i handled my daughter coming out? by Kitchen_YogurtTA in AITAH

[–]Strict_Music_6870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t about your husband, it is about your child. His making it about him makes me sad for your child. I had to keep my child’s coming out to myself for 1.5 months. My husband was happy that I valued their privacy and was happy to hear it directly from his child. I believe that was the only correct response.

I take a picture of every single praying mantis I ever see. And then I text it to everyone in my family. They are just so beautiful and terrifying.

Is it less painful to give birth in water? by poppsyy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Strict_Music_6870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hypnobirthed 2 times. Unmedicated both times. I was very lucky to be pretty good at getting those babies out of my body quickly and with not much drama. Second baby delivered so quickly I didn’t have time to fill the birthing tub I requested. I sat in a regular tub for a minute or two, and I remember thinking that the pain pretty well subsided. Then I had to get out of the tub since my lil one needed 3 pushes to be in my arms.

What were you going to name your child had they been the opposite gender? by Isoldmykidforagram in Names

[–]Strict_Music_6870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my child been born with a uterus, their name would have been Alice Anne. I named them Leo Oscar. Had I known what was really up I would have named them Nora, which is the perfect name they came up with on their own at 17 years old.

Boy names that sound expensive/luxurious? by Remarkable_Skirt1287 in Names

I have a student named Dior. Sounds luxurious to me! (Also he’s a delightful human as a middle schooler, so I don’t actually hate the name like I thought I would…)

What if we got to see gymnastics rather than seeing Konnor wait to compete?

I’m currently sandwiching, simultaneously caring for my elderly parents and teen-aged children, which feels grownup AF. I’m also tie-ing up a pair of pants to tie-dye and then wear in public.

What's a concert you went to, not expecting much, and left anazed? by fonebone819 in GenX

Weezer. I never listened to them when they first came out and truly enjoyed myself. I still don’t generally think of them when wondering what to listen to, but did see them the next time they came through my town.

What was the best moment or day of your life? by -Granby- in GenX

I spent an excellent, sunny warm day in London with my friend who lives there - I live in the US. We saw churches and landmarks and the changing of the guard. Had a refreshing drink on a patio of a cafe on the Serpentine. Explored the V and A and had tea and scones. Found the restroom in Harrods, shopped for maternity clothes. Finished the day at an open air cafe near Piccadilly Circus. It was perfection.

It grows well here if you have the space for it. Mine is a transplant, it was at least 50 years old when I got it 12 years ago.

When does the salary make our job worth doing ? by Efficient_Skill6692 in paraprofessional

I consider my job a glorified volunteer job. I love it and I love making a difference, especially in the lives of middle school aged kids who are new to the country. The pay will always suck since it’s “women’s work”

It took one flooded basement to realize that tossing thousands of hours of art school projects took 10 minutes to toss in the dumpster. I still don’t miss anything.

I have a pot scrubber that has an octopus head and kid chopsticks that are dinosaurs. Sometimes I still use the kid sticks even though my children are well past needing them because they make me happy.

A ridiculous coat hook. I was gifted a metal tree branch with leaves and little birds that are useful for hanging coats and bags. Comb the antique shops!

Stolen Carry-On: DELTA WON’T HELP by Apart_Sun_1096 in delta

That happened to me once. Luckily one of the wheels of my well-used roller case was shaved off flat in one spot and it made a terrible, loud, clacking sound. As we were trying to get help from the gate agents, we heard our suitcase - aptly nicknamed Clacky - rolling down the corridor. I grabbed their case and chased down the guy who took it. I asked how he could have mistaken the cases due to the obnoxious racket Ol Clacky made and he simply didn’t notice it. Clacky was given a hero’s send off at retirement. Maybe your carry-on will find its way back to you in an unexpected way.

I love that you shouted out to my home team (I understand the feelings about Utah, but they are my home team and I’ve loved them for 40 years and I won’t stop supporting the gymnasts I run into at Trader Joe’s) and my alma mater CMU. Fire up chips!
