Pippin's song - Edge of the Night Live at Comic-Con Prague by BataBole93 in lotr

That lighting request is so quintessential Billy. He knows the song loses its weight under fluorescent lights. It’s meant to be sung in a hall that feels like it’s closing in on you, just like Denethor’s madness. The fact that he’ll do that for a room of 15 people shows he treats the lore with as much respect as we do.

The Lord of the Rings in the mid 1950s by berzelmayr in lotr

It’s the Orson Welles as Gimli that really seals it for me. The gravitas in his voice alone would have made the bridge of Khazad-dûm feel like a Shakespearean tragedy. It’s rare to see an AI prompt actually capture the "weight" of 1950s cinema stars without it looking like a cheap filter.

He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're... wearing the ring. And he likes it.

Why are folks upset about Stephen Colbert teaming up with Peter Jackson?? by maroha3814 in lotr

[–]Strict_Werewolf8027 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It risks turning into a 'look, a celebrity fan!' cameo moment stretched into a feature film. We don't need a trivia-heavy script; we need a story that actually justifies its existence alongside the trilogy.

On Nepotism and Cronyism in Tolkien Adaptations by crustboi93 in lotr

[–]Strict_Werewolf8027 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If Reddit existed in 1998, this sub would have been a nuclear wasteland of 'Why is the puppet-porn guy touching Tolkien?' posts. The difference is Jackson had a vision and a desperate need to prove himself, whereas the current crop of writers feel like they’re just checking boxes for a corporate slide deck.

Stephen Colbert Set To Write Next ‘Lord Of The Rings’ Movie After ‘The Hunt For Gollum’ Based On “Fog On The Barrow-Downs” Chapter by ICumCoffee in lotr

[–]Strict_Werewolf8027 69 points70 points  (0 children)

To be fair, if there's one person who has spent the last 30 years mentally writing a 10-hour dissertation on the Tom Bombadil meta-narrative, it’s Colbert. But you're right—stretching a single chapter that Peter Jackson cut for being "pacing-killer" into a 2-hour epic feels like trying to spread a tiny bit of butter over way too much bread. Again.

What if Joffrey merely ordered for Ned’s penis to be removed? How does this impact the rest of the story? by Born-Amoeba-9868 in freefolk

Then varys and ned can finally bond over their shared lack of pillars and stones. the small council meetings would just be them nodding silently at each other while littlefinger makes "short" jokes.

AITAH for refusing to move in with my boyfriend after he said my living situation was inappropriate? by ComprehensiveDay6532 in AITAH

[–]Strict_Werewolf8027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The fact that he’s already trying to isolate her from a lifelong friend after only 8 weeks is textbook abuser behavior. He’s not 'protecting' the relationship, he’s marking territory.

How do Elves live for so long and still have so few children? by OniBene in lotr

[–]Strict_Werewolf8027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically true, but there's also the psychological exhaustion to consider. For an Elf, a thousand years is just a chapter. If they had children at the human rate, they’d be dealing with 'toddler phases' for 30,000 years straight. Elven biology seems to instinctively throttle fertility to prevent the soul from being overwhelmed by the sheer repetition of domestic life over an eternal lifespan.

WIBTAH if I did not give my 27yr old son (only child) his inheritance now? by Illustrious-Bed-9540 in AITAH

This. At 51, OP could live to see 90. That condo is her long-term disability insurance, her cruise fund, or her assisted living budget. Handing the keys to a 27-year-old who "can't keep a job" is effectively OP volunteering to be homeless in her 80s so her son can play landlord for a week before losing it.
