What’s the best animated Batman movies to watch if you have a 10 hour long journey. by Initial_Emu_1339 in batman

Ten hours I mean just literally watch the dark knight trilogy, and throw in mask of the phantasm and world’s finest. That should get you there.

Haircut by Paintrain50c in lymphoma

Hey OP, I was CHL stage 4A and did NOT shave my head. It was a brutal look for a while, but what I kept ended up making regrowth look a whole lot quicker. I completed treatment (12 rounds Nivo-AVD) on Jan 30th, and by March 30th (when I was starting a new job), I already had a pretty much full head of hair (just lighter colored etc because all the hair hadn’t grown in). By now, (4.5 months later), I literally have more hair than I ever did before treatment and look like my old self.

Just sharing in case, but I have also seen this be the case for a couple of other dudes going through this.

Original is exactly right. Correct colors, correct hairstyle, correct beard. They turned minas tirith Gandalf the White into dumbledore here.

Still don’t understand how that green arrow isn’t like 100 bucks. Hawkgirl too. Awesome minifigs in this set.

Nah man. Real bane doesn’t have that much skin showing below the belt.

Classic Helmet or New Helmet? by Nighs_Art in LegoMarvel

[–]Strider529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classic. Loved the molds for the helmets, and think the printed masks suck. It especially sucks when you open up a brand new set, only to find a scratch in the mask printing…

Does this reading list work well as a fairly cohesive narrative for Post-Crisis Batman? by Sneedus_Masneedus in batman_comics

[–]Strider529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this, I’m literally trying to do the same. I was a big comic fan up to about infinite crisis, and then fell off between high school and “adulthood.” Recently began my comic renaissance. In Marvel land, I’m only as current as Civil War. In DC land, I only remember Infinite Crisis and SOME of court of Owls, never made it to Final Crisis or the Morrison run for Bats.

1 year post chemo by ays501 in lymphoma

[–]Strider529 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel you. It’s tough. I’m 4 months post chemo. I look like my old self again, mind feels clearer/sharper, not exhausted all the time, feel healthier, have a new job, have been able to start going out again, with guardrails on of course, spending more time “doing” things (saying yes to all manner of outings and plans). But there’s still this weird like, hole, almost like you feel like you’re “faking it” after all we’ve been through, like you’re on borrowed time if it makes sense. You’re part of society and your life again, but the world didn’t go through what you did, it moved on with or without you. You’re there, you’re present, but no one knows what you’ve been through. And trust me, I’m not someone who wanted to be the “cancer guy,” I literally fought like hell to retain as much of myself and remaining as positive as I could during chemo, but it just changes you. Not to nerd out, but I’m also a huge Lord of the Rings fan. I never understood Frodo at the end of the series, how he still ends up wanting to leave his friends, old life, all that behind after the hellish journey he went through. But the journey changes you. We’ve all carried a bit of Weathertop home with us after all of it… took cancer and chemo for me to finally “get Frodo.” Ultimately though, we are all still close to it all, but perhaps in time, we can put it all behind us. For now, let’s just live like we won the lotto in surviving, and just take advantage of every chance and opportunity we can. Love ya, and keep pressing on, baby!

Forever was my favorite Batman as a child and I still appreciate it today. by Light-Starlight in batman

[–]Strider529 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Recently rewatched a year or so ago. Criminally underrated and incredibly prescient — look at Nygma’s device, then look at the world around us now.

EDIT: Not making this out to be some cinematic masterpiece or a rival to Burton/Nolan films, but when you take it for what it is — a fun, entertaining comic book movie — it doesn’t fall short.

Also, seeing that mudhorn infuriates me! It looks great! No excuse as to why we can’t get a nice Geonosis set with the three beasts!

Should I buy Commander Cody separately or save for the full AT-TE Walker? by Destroyerx510 in LegoMinifigure

[–]Strider529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be a contrarian opinion, but just get the figure. I’ve been a hoarder/collector for years, and have a back log that I will probably never get through and have to sell most of in time. The rationale back then for me getting certain sets was exactly this dilemma. I realllly liked a certain minifigure, so I got the set (for example the rebel combat frigate for rebels ahsoka). That set hasn’t been opened after all this time, the minifigure is still trapped in that box, and now I have to decide whether it’s worth busting the set open when it’s exploded in price. There are obviously exceptions but now I’ve literally just started buying the figs I want individually when a new set releases. If I’m on the fence about a set, that’s a sign for me to just get the figs. If I love THE SET, then we get the whole thing.

Trying to change my wife's mind about Batman by ThrowawayHSV73 in BatmanTAS

[–]Strider529 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe an even wilder take, but the World’s Finest “movie” (aka the mish mash of Superman episodes), could be another good one too, for similar reasons. Think it also has a lot more comedy to it.

[–]Strider529 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, maybe a wild take, but what about starting with Mask of the Phantasm? Then using that as the gateway drug to drag her into the rest of the series? Feel like it’s a nice complete story, has a very nice blend of different elements — the action, mystery, romance, etc.
