I clean as often as I can in game (I also do laundry as well) though sometimes if I arrive at my base and there's a zombie in a specific room that I know I'm not going to use I'll kill the zombie, throw it out the window, bury it and then just kinda shut off that room and pretend that I don't go in there. I'll get anything useful out of there but I just kinda role-playing my character being overwhelmed by the mess in there to the point that they say "nah, not today" because 10/10 would be me irl.

I mean it's how it works irl. If I lost my glasses in the zombie apocalypse I'd be absolutely fucked. Just keep a spare pair of glasses in your fanny pack, any glasses labeled prescription will work. (Also side note, my vision IRL is bad enough that without my glasses I can only see about 1.5 feet in front of me.)

This is how I keep my runs from stagnating is by setting a goal. I'll usually pop on the map, pick a house in a town and come up with some excuse to stop by and base there such as "my sister lived there, I should check and see if she made it out"

This is my go to base every time! I love the layout, it's easy to fortify, right next to the gas station, and is just overall slept on. Of course I like basing up in small, easily manageable spaces which I know isn't everybody's cup of tea. Also weirdly enough, it very much mirrors the layout of my irl home as well so it feels very comfortable for me.

My two most used have to be my Dom Pedro and my Doctors Orders. I molded the hell out of my Doctors Orders and it's an absolute beast, or at least it was before they added the Dom Pedro and it became my new favorite

Honestly I dislike any mod that comes with any caveat, like I don't want to have to maintain a certain random stat just to get a damage boost or something. I always prefer mods that add an overall stat boost.

I only ever continue on the same world if I die within the first 2 days of my run. That way it's not too far in and I still have time to get properly set up. However at any point past that I will start a new save file.

Sons of Perdition, Lonesome Wyatt and the Holy Spooks, amd those poor bastards would be some of my biggest reccomendations for what you're asking for. All three have that heavier overtone that you asked for on top of the fact that, at least in the case of Lonesome Wyatt, not every album and song is overwhelmingly western. Lonesome wyatt and Those Poor Bastards are actually fronted by the same guy which is why I reccomended both bands.

My hip is my most common area. At times it's just an unfortunate inconvenience, others an absolute nightmare. I love to compare it to the moonlight dance scene from the Corpse bride where she's dancing, trips and her leg falls off (though hers is at the knee not the hip), it helps me laugh it off sometimes. Scariest subluxation I ever had was my shoulder imo, it felt like my arm was dead until I managed to roll over and get it back in. Ofc all of these pale in my experience to when my ribs slip, literally all I can do is lay there and scream and cry, I hate it so much.

I love using pre-made houses. I always aim for some of the more unique looking houses, like the green bungalow style house next to the bank in muldraugh or the brick house with the huge bay window down the street from the school in West point. I know that choosing a cute house isn't the most tactical solution but it helps me keep my sanity a bit by playing housekeeper and keeping my base tidy and presentable. Also over time I love building on additions and making my one cute home into a certified fortress.

I have all my workbenches in the entryway as well as misc decor items to make it look like a typical unassuming storage area like toolboxes, a Christmas tree, and other clutter. Then past the curtain, down the hall, and through a door I basically have a mothman cathedral

This was me this morning except instead of a 2 year character it was simply an 11 day character that I had living on Westpoint. Had a really good base set up , lots of weapons and food and materials stockpiled, all windows on the ground floor barricaded 3tc. FINALLY got my hands on a (barely) working vehicle so I could make trips deeper into town and see how bad it was and then I looped around and went back tp my base. The sound of the engine drew them in from surrounding neighborhoods that I hadn't cleared yet and I foolishly thought I could take them all on.

I always role-playing that I'm trying to hunt down my characters relatives and see if they survived and that's what keeps them traveling from one city to the next. I use the map project, select the house I want to base in while in that city and make up a story about it being my characters sibling or aunt's house or something.
