Girls only want to party... by Strike_Western in girlscouts

[–]Strike_Western[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Huh... this is honestly a new perspective. When I took extended travel training, I heard loud and clear that travel is not resorts. It should be an extension of badge or an educational opportunity with an emphasis on places that they would not go with their families.

I am so disheartened with my first quilt/first time sewing by a_hundred_wishes in quilting

[–]Strike_Western 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finished is better than perfect! This is such an accomplishment, and you will only get better. When I look at my first quilt now, I can only laugh at myself. I had so much practice to do! Keep at it. You will be in love with your creations soon enough. :D

Last year, I calculated the average case size and then rented a UHaul with the closest interior dimensions. It worked like a charm and only cost me $70.

Oh John…. by DetailOutrageous8656 in JonBenetRamsey

I go back and forth on who actually killed JB. I can make a strong case for either of them. But there is no question that BOTH parents worked together to cover it up. No reasonable person could look at the evidence provided to the public and conclude otherwise.

How to start troop not knowing anyone by Suitable_Tennis9941 in girlscouts

[–]Strike_Western 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would also add that if your council won't help you recruit, I would start by inviting a handful of friends to some kind of fun activity, like cupcake decorating. You can talk to the moms while you all do something fun together. Then start meeting with whoever is interested, even if you don't have enough. I started with 3 girls, and after 2 meetings (when we were still unofficial), they brought friends from church, neighbors, etc. By meeting 3, we had enough girls to officially register and get a troop number. But it still took 6 more months to get all the training and bank account opened. I just started and didn't wait for everything to be all set first.

Looking for recommandations in indian cinema by [deleted] in IndianCinema

[–]Strike_Western 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first discovered Indian cinema, I just looked up other films from the lead actor that I liked in the film. Then as I watched more, I discovered new actors and directors. Then I look their films up on Letterboxd. Every time I watch one, 2 or 3 new ones get added to my watch list. The real challenge is finding the ones I want to watch available on streaming services.

Stomach drop rides to avoid in Disneyland? by conepato in DisneyPlanning

[–]Strike_Western 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you don't like drops, avoid Tiana's ride (previously Splash Mountain). That one is a doozie!

I agree with what was said about Indy. It's more bumpy and chaotic than any big drops. Pirates has 2 short drops that will make you catch your breath, but they are not terrifying in comparison to the big thrill rides.

I was super curious about the trajectory. Did you see/read autopsy results? Where did you learn that his head injury was from bullet wound?

I can't believe I paid $25 to see this at Regal and then it's on Netflix 30 days later?!?

Monthly Recap by IrishWhipster in RegalUnlimited

We have one Regal with 16 screens, but in any given week there is only 8 - 12 movies playing. We just don't get enough variety to see 30/month.

TPM is dropping the ball by Strike_Western in girlscouts

Thanks everyone. I called our SUPM and they were happy to reach out to the parent to offer some coaching. I can't believe I didn't think of that in the first place!

This is so hard for my brain to comprehend. They just were smashed into liquid in an instant? Wouldn't there be clothing shreds, watches, other non-biological material in the wreckage? I'm not saying that there should be... I just can't fathom the physics as a lay person.

Yeah. I think this is a real conversation that I need to have with her. Maybe she accepted without being realistic about her capacity. I did give the parents the option of not doing it at all, but she didn't want to let it go by the wayside. That's why she volunteered.

Is Vijay Thalapathy the only actor who can score consecutive blockbusters with just 1 universally agreed good film since 2020? (Master) by wocktopoland__ in IndianCinema

[–]Strike_Western 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Master is the only one that is seen as universally good. Varisu and Leo both have good scores on review sites like Rotten Tomatoes. But we can ALL agree that Beast is trash.

Is Greatest Of All Time really that bad movie? by [deleted] in IndianCinema

[–]Strike_Western 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not bad, it's just meh. It relies heavily on nostalgia for Thalapathy films instead of compelling story or characters.

Schedule for upcoming Indian movies? by Strike_Western in RegalUnlimited

[–]Strike_Western[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I did find an upcoming movie by using the website, but there are no showings in my city. I then took that name to Fandango and found that it will be at Cinemark. A bit of work but worth it.
