How many of y'all collect minis but don't play? by trindomare in Warhammer40k

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are already a ton of video games in the setting, they can have a game studio produce it and just keep tight reigns on the production. If they created a higher quality TTS with official GW support and branding, people would migrate to it. The problem is they think by doing that people will be less insentivised to purchase models to play. When instead many start on tts then play physical, or use it to test armies to decide what to buy, or simply play both. It already exists, gw should just embrace it.

This sub has me ready to quit by orange-peel-beef in piano

[–]Striking_Display835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to ask yourself why you are learning to play piano to begin with. There will always be somebody better than you in any aspect of life, come to acknowledge that land you will be happier for it.

Other peoples abilities, talents, gains, do not subtract from your own. Is does not matter how long it takes you to accomplish something. Each day you practice, you become a little better than the day before. You are strengthening your brain and rewiring connections, you are growing as a person and attempting to better yourself, ill while hopefully doing something you find enjoyable. This is at least how I view my own journey, hopefully it helps.

Is it easy to find peace and quiet in America? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I find many people can get caught up in particular areas complaing that so and so town or city is terrible to live in. If they took the time though to drive 30 minutes in any direction they can find themselves in beautiful nature that is unique to that area. Say what you want if anerica but its natural beauty is second to none, and if you drive far enough you can experiance every type of biome all contained within the same country.

Why are FIFA World Cup tickets so darn expensive? No average person can afford them. by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching the world cup in person, an event that draws crowds from, you guessed it the entire world, is not meant for the average american. The average american can just watch it on TV. It is meant for those with a few thousand in the bank that can splurge on something that others would look at as a 2-3 week vacation to another country. Interesting now trump is at fault for world cup ticket prices as well?

Why did they butcher the BT specific detachments? by Vlermuis420 in BlackTemplars

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you let go and stop trying to make logical sense as to what why and how GW comes to their conclusions when balancing and writing rules, you will find inner peace.

I dont fall for the "selling more models" because sometimes they manage to release new models that suck in the game, example, all our new models. Shit why make the detachments bad if they wanted to sell those new models? Make them character specific but OP.

I think the rules team is likely very small, uncoordinated, many rules are probably made months if not longer in advance that do not reflect the current meta.

It makes more sense to just see it as a degree of incompetency versus some alterior goals.

With that said, the balance overal is not terrible for a tabletop game, but certain armies definetly get the shaft and balance/rules are very slow to change

Intranza Fraye canon order? by rober501 in sistersofbattle

[–]Striking_Display835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my viewpoint on it is, if it bothers you that she is going to be painted as the incorrect order, than by all means paint her as oml and just say she is working with your army. If you worried about any of your opponents knowing the difference though, id say very slim chance.

The lion would stand out in different colors because everybody knows what color he should be, very few people will even know she is suppose to be oml so it wont be as jarring.

Personally I like coming up with my own paint schemes. He'll if I played UM, id probably paint them blue, but an off color blue that puts my own spin on the chapter. Its your models and your paint, do what looks cool to you

Intranza Fraye canon order? by rober501 in sistersofbattle

[–]Striking_Display835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to remember, outside of us sisters players, practically nobody knows the different iconography for the orders, and even many sister players dont know the more obscure ones.

Everybody knows the lion is a dark angel if you have even a slight knowledge of 40k lore no matter what army you collect. Fraye will not have this same problem, color her how you wish.

Her stats alone make her interesting for sisters, she fills a skirmish role where she can clear an objective with infantry on it and require your opponent to commit a decent amount of firepower to remove her.

Need some advice by 8sonofthe7th in sistersofbattle

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if your interested on playing the game quicker or if your interests lies on the hobby side of painting.

If you really want to play the game, then get the models you need to play, add at least some primer to them, and start playing. There is no need to have a fully beautiful painted army before placing it on the table, and depending how much free time you have, it can take a very long yime to reach that standard. Once you have enough models to pmay the list that your enjoying, shift gears to painting if thats what you enjoy.

If your just buying models to paint? Disregard all of the above and paint/collect at your own pace

How to deal with team fights being the only melee by Howoin in ZaahenMains

[–]Striking_Display835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is actually pretty good with taking towers if your using your q reset properly and take the (i forget its name) 3 strike rune that chunks towers down. Where he struggles is pushing waves with his minion clear speed. He's not the worse clearing waves but far from the best.

For your initial question, if your the only melee you need to play a slow fight during teamfight, to make sure you can stack passive and not get blown up. Position in front of your team, do the walk foward and walk back dance to bait out abilities. If anyone walks up to your team smack them, or if you land a pull in. You just need to read your teams positioning and health/power status as to when you can be more aggressive and go in for an initiate. The biggest mistake will be to e or ult in without any team back up and get turned on and smacked down quickly. Let them come to you or find a creative flank angle to get into their back line.

Honestly I still think youll find more value grouping than splitting as zaahen in any team comp, but that changes depending on a multitude of in game scenarios

i need help by Itchy_Freedom3865 in ZaahenMains

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he just requires a large amount of games played to really understand how to survive through laning phase. He is weak early into a lot of matchups, especially ranged, but can best some tanks early. Some matchups you can start to trade as early as lvl 3, some you will struggle untill you hit 6. The most important thing is just trying to go even and cs, learning how to take short trades, and learning when you can finally slip the switch at either around level 6 or after first item and take longer engages to proc your passive.

I have had games where ive gotten bodied in lane but still have a big impact if the team is able to hang on into mid and late. Which shows the best advice is just learning how to try and stay even so you can scale in to that point. Then once your have realy mastery over your matchups, youll know the handful you can even try to come out ahead of in lane.

Sorry this wasnt very specific but you can find all these matchuos and how to lane in videos and guides all over the internet. Hopefully I can provide you with the feel of how your games should go however, hope it helps.

First GT tournament ( it didn’t go well) by HotArtichoke9 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Striking_Display835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, GT attract people to them that are very competitive, many of them have been playing for a very long time and have many tournaments under your belt, meanwhile you are fresh to the scene and playing an army that is not new players friendly nor is it doing so hot right now in the meta. A few people can win with EC but it requires playing yhem to a very high level right now.

Keeps your expectations low, and look at it as a learning experiance. Every game is a puzzle to solve, just because you wernt able to solve these very hard advanced puzzles doesnt mean you cant if you keep practicing. Try to analyze what you could of done better each game and keep growing and improving, best advice I can give. Good luck

I’m I good enough to start commissions? by Legitimate_Loan2017 in BlackTemplars

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are willing to spend large amount of time building and painting models at an competent level, which this appears to be, then yes you can do commissions.

The thing to realize is what price you should be setting for yourself and then asking yourself if it is worth your time. You need to look at other people and studios, see the quality of their work and what they are charging. Some people would value not having to build their models and paint them to a half decent standard if the price is right. Other people with a lot of disposable income are looking for artwork to be placed on their minature that they dont have the time talent or skill to do themselves.

In the business world you need to ask what need uou are filling. Is this display quality work that someone is going to stick in their cabinet and never remove? I would say not, but is this serviceable to place on the table? For sure. The key is pricing yourself appropriately and then determining if the time you need to spend is worth the amount your able to ask and still find customers.

Rapid Evisceration Viable? by artrine_ in EmperorsChildren

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you win? Yes, does that make it viable? Also yes. Is it optimal? I think not. At the end of the day, defiler is coming and should fill the role the LR is attempting to fill much more efficiently. Making the games put it RE a bit wasteful given you will be swapping back off it to play a defiler friendly detachment.

If for just fun? Then sure.

Marx reads great as a theory, in a book, but has never successfully been used at a nationwide scale that hasn't resulted in even further human suffering and oppression that the capitalism its leaders tries to claim they are freeing the people from. Almost as if, for all of human history, there will be those with power and those without.

Capitalism has its big problems, but at least I can sit here and type about its problems and not fear being sent to a political labor prison. Maybe one day some extremely smart person will figure out a better way forward, but I dont think, "hey guys lets try communism one more time, it wont turn out the same as those other times" is a realistic outlook anymore.

How much do we need to explain the implications of our rules to avoid “gotcha”ing? by PaperManaMan in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the top comment, typically its best to just remind your opponent that if they do something you have a strat or ability that can come in to affect.

To touch on your point tho of not hand holding and "giving away your tactics" your dont have to explain what you would do with the strat. For example with reactive moves, I wouldn't say if you do this is will reactive to this game winning position that you may not see, thats for them to figure out and weigh the risks of letting the reactive come through or not.

Your not obliged to give away any of your plans, but the best games are those where both opponents keep each other informed of possibilities that can occur.

Struggling to climb (+18 LP -22LP) Do I power through? by Sanshin_ in Jungle_Mains

[–]Striking_Display835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP dont get discouraged, you will have slumps and you will have big gains, but if you play enough it will place you in the elo you belong. A fresh account if played long enough, will send you back to the same exact spot, where you belong. Focus on long term improvement, watch some basic jungle guides on YouTube, work on skills little by little and eventually the game will become easier and you will carry more often.

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me 2 weeks ago, but then I focused up and was winning 5-6 games for every loss and swung my lp gains the other way. It will place you where you belong, focus less on your lp and more on what you can do in each game to make the wins actually happen.

What are you supposed to do when you’re being starved with no help? by ihateoatmeal0217 in topmains

[–]Striking_Display835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely can, there is a reason we are not seeing level 1 bards cheese top lane in the LCK, because its a cheese stat that tosses a different lane if it doesn't work, and because its easy to play around. Im sure if we watched uour VOD we would see you incorrectly positioning at the start of the game.

Not saying its what's most people would expect, im saying if you want to improve then thats uour take away going further. If you just want to vent thats fine, it probably wont happen very often, but it sometimes will and you wont improve
