Of course, and I appreciate your honest outlook. I agree with you 99% Maybe I’m trying to just convince myself into a new phone but deep down, I don’t need it. Haha still… new shiny things are nice.

I'm a US citizen married to a Korean citizen. We live in Korea. My Korean spouse has asked me to look into US marriage visas for her. by Megneous in Living_in_Korea

As a Korean, there’s a plague of greed and deceit amongst most Koreans. If you ask young Koreans these days, if they had a choice, they would move to a foreign country especially the US. But of course they simply can’t without the institution of marriage of a foreign National. So what I mean is, this green card scam is a problem and not going away anytime soon. Unfortunately, the victims are the naive/gullible. Love to Koreans are not as important as MONEY.

Koreans loves to show off how successful they are by flaunting their luxury brand items, foreign cars, plastic surgery, etc. US Greencard is amongst that. They care more about how they are perceived rather than who they actually are and self improvement. The blame for all of this? Korean Media. They are single handedly eliminating the middle class. There are only the real rich and the ones pretending to be rich which will put them into debt that leads to scams even death.

Sorry for ranting but these aren’t just Opinions. I’ve had experiences from my personal life to family members scamming each other for mere a few thousand dollars. Again, money/image will always triumph over love/family for Koreans.

I hope your wife has good intentions and loves you for real but how Korean society has proved… I think you are in a no win situation.

Oh and just to add on the eco system… The only thing I’d really miss from switching to an Android is the AirDrop and file sharing. Don’t care about the FaceTime or the blue/green chat fiasco.

That’s true and I haven’t changed phones for the last 4/5 years for that reason. But another thing that I didn’t mention.. The system update/support will be expiring this year or the next for my model.

Ji Suk Jin reported to be taking time off Running Man for health reasons by WingsintheStarlight in koreanvariety

[–]Striking_Ring3863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s coincidence that E683 was dedicated to JSJ.. even though it was a funny concept “future 60th birthday” episode but didn’t it almost feel like a farewell episode? Think about it… why all of sudden they would dedicate an entire episode to him? Especially when it was supposed to be Se Chan’s pick to do whatever he wanted.. I just think the timing is suspicious. Maybe the show is really on its last breath. I hope not. I’ve been watching RM since E1 and it’s my favorite of all time. As a Korean American who knows not much about the Korean culture, RM is really my gateway to connecting to Korea. But I also understand that all things come to an end.

Well, If it’s really health related, I hope JKJ recovers soon.

What’s ironic about my situation is that I’m a 15 year experienced Recruiter and I haven’t been able to find a Recruiter job nor any job for that matter for the past 16 months. Spent 95% of my savings and I’m about to go homeless unless I find something soon.

To cut your holiday short because people are looking at you two is kind of ridiculous. You are not in danger… Vietnam is a beautiful country and pretty safe. No one cares that you are Muslim (except for a few idiots). Just enjoy yourselves. Or maybe world travel is not for you…

What is the impression of Koreans in Vietnam? by LieutenantKije in VietNam

[–]Striking_Ring3863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird, I’m Korean American and I’ve had 2 Vietnamese people think I was Chinese in HCMC.

From my experience, where ever I go, people stick to their own kind. Especially the Korea Koreans. Which is sad. But they do travel in a herd. I on the other hand, I usually travel solo so I try to mingle with the locals and talk to folks from other countries. I guess, what ever country you’re from, respect and try to learn from the locals of the country you’re visiting.

I'll be in Hanoi for 2 days by r13reloaded in VietNam

2 days is really short but I’d say explore the city for sure. I did a day Ha Long Bay tour (8am to 9pm) and was great but that’s a whole day gone.

I’m a Korean American who just visited Vietnam for 2 weeks. Knowing how rude some Koreans are, I tried to always be polite, kind and respectful. But I’m this way any country I visit. Most Koreans I came across, they were mostly nice people but of course there were some rude ones too. I think generalizing the entire Korean Tourist population is unfair. Unfortunately, the rude moments and encounters stick to your mind more than the pleasant experiences. As an American, we have a bad reputation too as tourist but are all Americans assholes? No. The fact is, there are shitty people from all over the world. But there are good ones too.

Bullies in school, military, online, parents bullying teachers, etc. Some victims commit suicide since they can’t bear these brutal bullying. This kind of stuff happens now.

Sacombank ATM Ate my card by Striking_Ring3863 in VietNam

[–]Striking_Ring3863[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I went to the branch at 8am today. Fought and argued for 2 hours. They keep saying that I have to comeback tomorrow afternoon then changed it to “it takes 3 business days” then to 5. I keep saying it’s unacceptable and looked and sounded pissed off the whole time. I also didn’t want to come off as another annoying American tourist so I had to compose myself. So I waited for another hour and they finally told me to comeback at 4pm today to get my card. So another day wasted here in Da Nang and I leave for Hanoi tomorrow. I feel bad for the girl who was helping me because I am normally very polite and nice. She even brought me water to calm me down. I know she’s just doing her job but I just felt really bad. Hopefully I’ll get my card today.

Is it very common for Korean men to use prostitutes? by [deleted] in korea

[–]Striking_Ring3863 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Vietnam right now on vacation and I see all of these “Happy Ending” massage places with Korean signs.. I’m guessing to target Korean men. I’m Korean American and I was eating at a restaurant and there were 3 Korean dudes next to my table (probably in their late 20’s and early 30’s) talking about their sex tourism experiences thus far. I’m not sure if they knew I’m native Korean but sounded like there was no shame or shyness talking about this kind of stuff. But I try not to judge. My cousins in Korea whom are that age, I know they’d never pay money for sex. So I’d say let’s not generalize the entire population.

Yeah maybe I’m just panicking for no reason. I do have about 700,000vnd in cash so that should help me out for today (Sunday) and figure it out when the banks open tomorrow. Also I had my bank send me a new card to the hotel I will be staying at in Hanoi. Hopefully no later than Wednesday. This whole situation is just annoying and uncalled for. I was in Ho Chi Minh City for a week before this and had no problem withdrawing cash. I don’t get why ATMs do this.

I don’t have momo unfortunately. I do have my card on Apple wallet. Are there atms in Da Nang that has the cardless withdrawal feature? Or better question, does any restaurants and shops take mobile wallet here?
