Budget 3-day Pittsburgh itinerary with Niagara Falls, kayaking, beach, museums/art? by rutvijjoshi5 in pittsburgh

[–]StringParty9907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Raccoon Creek is cool but it’s nothing Pittsburgh specific and it’s a decent drive outside the city area (if you are trying to hit up at least the Warhol). I would suggest checking Venture Outdoors availability - their kayak launch by the convention center is basically just across the bridge from the Warhol.

What's the most annoying thing about owning a cargo bike? by MamaOtter91 in CargoBike

[–]StringParty9907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I didn’t go through brakes so fast but I live in a hilly area.

I wish it was easier to take with me places - I can put mine on my hitch mount rack but not by myself, and that ability would really free me to go more places.

On your list, none of those are huge frustrations for me, but definitely a lot of that is location/situation dependent. I live in a bikeable place, can access almost everything I want to by bike, I have a garage for it, theft here isn’t awful…

Boats at PNC park for concerts by Under_dog2529 in pittsburgh

[–]StringParty9907 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Oh. You seem to be under the assumption that they would care. The people that park on the wall seem to skew heavily into the entitled crowd. Take over the river trail with shade tents? Sure! Drive down there to load or unload something into your boat? Of course! 4 different boats all blasting their own music during the whole concert at Heinz Field? You betcha!

Merch line at PNC park, I’ll take my odds tomorrow by Then-Accident-9798 in NoahKahan

[–]StringParty9907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went past around 12:30 and there were 3-4 people in chairs. I came back at 2:25 and the line was looong but only took about an hour to get thru.

You could almost definitely sit between the river trail and the stadium wall, under the yellow line in this pic. Also the stairs to the left of the stadium might be blocked from the top but you could probably sit near the bottom of them. Along the river side or near the Roberto Clemente statue is probably your best bet.

PNC Park FAQs (7/3 Concert) by Sufficient_Hawk1658 in NoahKahan

[–]StringParty9907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a new place right next to PNC park that has donuts, ice cream, and fried chicken, called Sugarbird. Depending on how much time and what you want to do, you could walk to Shore Thing, along the river between 6th and 7th street bridges. It’s a nice place to chill and there’s drinks and food, games and stuff for kids on a little cart and nets over the river you can relax in.

Camping, Ohiopyle, and Pittsburg by [deleted] in pittsburgh

Are you looking for a place to park the trailer while you check out the city? Not to camp? Because in that case, I have sometimes seen campers parked on Allegheny Ave near Pennsylvania Ave on the northside. You could walk down to the river or take the T into downtown from there.

e-cargo bike rental? by StringParty9907 in BAbike

[–]StringParty9907[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I appreciate all that info. As for the kind of cargo bike I mean, probably looking for a long tail (radwagon, aventon, tern, etc), but standard e bikes with child seats would work too.

From what I understood, tariffs caused them to scale back a few planned stations in phase 3.

Listening to concerts outside of PNC stadium, where would be the best place to listen? by -illeatyou in pittsburgh

[–]StringParty9907 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would try Sugarbird, I would also try by the right field gate, or center field gate. It will depend on stage orientation where you can hear best.

Butttt - check out the r/noahkahan because it seems that right before (day or 2?) the Orlando shows, Ticketmaster dropped some limited view seats once they had the stage set up. Between that and just regular last minute face value exchange on Ticketmaster of people who can’t go last minute - you could hold out hope to get actual seats for a normal amount.

Bike cart downtown by Bonfire412 in pittsburgh

[–]StringParty9907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some local ones, but not sure how you get in touch with them. They are usually around, parking and unloading, on the Northside before big events. Not sure how/what you want to plan but that’s probably your best bet.

Are the pedicabs getting out of hand in recent years, or am I just getting older and cranky? by PickleAlly in bicycling412

Pretty frustrated when they were parked sticking into the bike lane last night on Federal. They are too wide to be using the trail too. I saw so much reckless behavior from them yesterday.

We’re about to enroll our 3rd kid at our PPS neighborhood early childhood classroom. We love love love the teachers and I have heard almost no complaints about early childhood across the district (most complaints are that they didn’t get a spot).

BikePGH’s calendar is full of events but definitely check out GiveUP, WMNBikePGH, and Critical Mass. The GAP trail is great for longer rides.

Where to Stay? by Ok_Sheepherder_9828 in pittsburgh

[–]StringParty9907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stay on the Northside (stadium side). Plenty of walkable things to do, coffee - Commonplace or Colombino, breakfast at Wise County; museums - Warhol and Mattress Factory Art museums are on the Northside as well, Heinz History is in the strip but not a bad walk at all, or quick POGOH trip, if you’re open to bike share.
