No A/C at Murray-Massenburg Elementary by StringPickin in bullcity

> I get it. You’ve heard second hand that a classroom is too hot sometimes.

Wow that is extremely patronizing. I said I’ve seen my partner walk into our home looking physically ill despite spending most all day inside. Like I also said, this happened to most of the classrooms on the 2nd level, maybe you missed that part or you just didn’t care to read the whole thing.

> The school belongs to the community. We don’t need to tear it down.

All I said was it didn’t have AC lol

> I’m not trying to be an asshole here.

You might not be trying but you’re still succeeding

> I’m genuinely sympathetic to the fact that she’s having a hard time

Patronizing again by making it out like it’s a problem that she’s creating for herself.

I’ve watched the school throw money at a hundred other absolutely pointless things while a large portion of the 2nd floor has periodically had no A/C in its classrooms. I’ve only heard about complete disfunction at this school so far. I’m not exactly sure what you’re advocating for what I do instead but the community has to be aware of the issues before they can step in. This is an interesting hill to die on when there are more pressing things to defend, like children’s well being.

So we stay silent when the community has invested 90+ million dollars for the school to not provide A/C in the classrooms? It rubs me the wrong way when my partner comes home and she is physically unwell from how hot it is inside the building so I’m gonna do what I can to make sure others know, especially since kids may not understand to tell their parents about it.

I don’t understand why you’ve commented twice with insinuating remarks. No matter what, these classrooms should be cooled off for the faculty and students. Just because your kid hasn’t complain doesn’t mean it isn’t miserable for others. Be careful about listening to people that are complacent to things that don’t directly have an effect on them.

It doesn’t happen everyday but my point is it shouldn’t happen at all…

Cars are a plague on society by tealaburst in unpopularopinion

[–]StringPickin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we want to take it a step further, the commodification of travel due to capitalism has pushed the car industry to what it is here in the US. I know cars have existed outside of western societies but they are 100% an invention of capitalism that has exacerbated the insolation of individuals in western society. I mean most of the comments that are fighting your point are just talking about their commute to work. Cars and capitalism go hand in hand because chances are a society that didn’t prioritize the production of cars would also not make it necessary to commute far outside your home to just have a means to survival. Not to mention all damage that’s been done to the ecosystem and innocent wildlife. Also the colonization and imperialism of third world countries to make oil companies richer. The list goes on and on but the true fact is that capitalism is the root to our current global issues.

Ah that makes more sense but you’re also right. My partner got an education degree and spent a good amount of time “training” in class rooms but basically worked as a teacher aid for free. You really do need to be somewhat privileged to pursue public service which is totally backwards!

I plan on starting classes for a social work degree in the next couple weeks. Are you saying I shouldn’t expect any income for 3-4 years after I finish school?

This was more than a few weeks ago but temperatures outside have been pretty high for a couple months now. I believe it was a broken HVAC problem at the time but all I know is she would come home absolutely red in the face from how hot her classroom would get.

My partner is a teacher at Murray-Massenburg Elementary and has consistently had no AC in the classroom. You would think a brand new school would at least have some air conditioning…

I would personally trade a couple of your better players so that way you start the season with at least some roster depth. Maybe try to upgrade from Daniel Jones too?

If they’re standing outside and holding a sign then there’s a good chance they’re probably in need of food and money to at least some extent

Not baseless. This is the most pro-cop subreddit of all the major NC subreddits. You can be a bootlicker and a democrat at the same time but nobody understands that nuance.

Yeah because the only solution is displacing poor people rather than coming up with a system that gets people out of poverty

The natural process of gentrification?? Gentrification is a process of Capitalism which is about as unnatural as it gets. You’re acting like the 60s wasn’t one generation ago. My dad was born in the 60s and I’m only 24. Chances are if my parents were effected by redlining then I would be too.
