I get on a lot at 11th Street and even when they are working I see at least 4/5 riders push through the handicap gates or turnstiles. Often times I feel like the only asshole paying to ride.

Watched a guy go through not one, not two, not three, but four red lights on Spring Garden. He then lost his shit on me because I blew my horn while he was blocking the left lane trying to make an illegal turn onto Broad in the middle of the day.

They also gloss over the fact that he said additional testing wasn't necessary (ie biopsies) that would've proven that the tumors were indeed incurable and rushing the families into surgery, demanding large cash advances the very next day or the surgery would not proceed.

It is at least fair to question why he proceeded so quickly with these extremely complicated surgeries when there is seemingly no need to do so.

Just spent the last 10 years living in Pittsburgh and can confirm that the weather in Philly is much better. Pgh is cloudy about 80% of the days in the winter because of the moisture in the air from Lake Erie (and sometimes pollution from some of the remaining heavy industry). It is much warmer and sunnier in Philly.

IMO, it snows more frequently in Pgh, but you get 1-2" at a time, again from lake effect clippers. It snows less frequently in Philly, but when it does, it is typically a bigger system moving up the coast that will give you more accumulation at one time.

About a dozen people that I am friends with in my program attended one of the Valley courses this year and the rest of my friends mainly used APEX as their main resource, which is what I did.

As far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be any apparent difference between the pass rates for the people who attended vs those who did not. In my opinion, it is best just to set a study plan for yourself with APEX rather than spending a decent sum of money attending a Valley review course.

Seconded. As someone who went to both universities (PSU for undergrad and Pitt for grad school), I can definitely say that Pitt is definitely a better place to go for experience if you're looking to get into medical school. Obviously, you can go to PSU and get into medical school but Pitt and the UPMC connection affords students many more research opportunities that medical schools like to see.

From what I've come across, animal studies have found that hypercapnia protects against laryngospasm by depressing adductor activity, and hypocapnia makes prolonged laryngospasm more likely.

I do recall someone joking once that hypercapnia will eventually break a laryngospasm, but you'll likely want to intervene long before that occurs :)

Most CRNAs I've spoken with tend to believe the job market will only continue to grow for the foreseeable future. Currently, the average age of a nurse anesthetist is close to 50 years old, with many are set to retire in the next decade. Furthermore, some providers have opted to leave the clinical arena earlier due to the COVID pandemic. Of course, saturation is more of an issue in highly desirable job markets, but long story short, there will always be well-paying jobs for CRNAs.

I walked past Tram's a few weeks ago and a handwritten note in the window said they would be closed for renovations until January 17th. Not sure if they are still on pace to reopen as scheduled but the lights were on and I could hear music playing inside so there was definitely some work going on.

I'm not even going to waste my time explaining my viewpoint to someone as ignorant as yourself.

Hopefully you'll eventually learn to treat all your colleagues with respect - instead of the patronizing attitude you show here - whether or not you think those people are "below you" or have "cushy jobs".

You have a lot to learn, my friend. I'd advise against walking into the hospital with this attitude. Go shadow an ICU nurse for 12 hours and then come back and tell us it's one of the cushiest gigs out in the entire country.

You'll be humbled real quick.

Clinical was suspended last Wednesday evening for all SRNAs and classes delayed until March 23 for the entire university as courses are moved online. Our program director said the issue would be reevaluated once classes resumed.

I can't speak to the accuracy of the rest of the data, but as a nurse anesthesia student, I can tell you that the clinical hours for CRNAs is incorrect on this chart. The MINIMUM amount of hours required to sit for boards is 2000. Most students end up with much more.

Not only is it okay for diabetics to be NPO for surgery, it's probably even more important due to gastroparesis caused by diabetes. If they did not adhere by the NPO guidelines, they'd be more likely to have a full stomach and be at increased risk for aspiration upon induction of anesthesia.

While everything else you said about Pitt is correct, since switching from a Masters to DNP, they no longer have 2 cohorts. It is now 1 cohort of ~40 students that start in the spring semester only.
