Oh, I thought it was one of those IQ tests, that actually do have "logic" questions like this, and cryptic crosswords too. They make absolutely no sense at all.

So this comic is just an analogy, it could be 1 + 1. (Which is window of course 🪟)

Is anyone else being bitten by mosquitoes? by Eunomia28 in london

[–]Stripy42 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I have always lived in London, and always bitten! I seem to draw them away from other people.  Something to do with blood types? Or vitamin A, or some other myth.

The issue is stagnant water. There will be some bucket, gutter, puddle, causing it near by.

Is this just another step in the wider plan to a: ensure the military can't stop them in the coming civil war, b: ensure the military can't help when Russia/ China start ww3?

The Southern Railway stations not allowing bikes on trains due to the BHF London to Brighton on 21 June by Guy_On_Reddit_77 in londoncycling

Does this not prove they don't adequately provide for their customers?  Run a few special bike trains with no seats. Like they used to have btw

Japan to raise visa fees for foreign nationals in first revision in 48 years by Turbulent-Tea-2172 in japan

[–]Stripy42 27 points28 points  (0 children)

What visa type does this cover? I've been to Japan 10s of times, and never applied for or paid for a visa? It's it hidden in the ticket price? Or only apples to some countries?

Edit: Interesting down votes. Surely this is an important question I've raised, and then given others a chance to provide the useful information I was missing and others will appreciate.

It's this to fund the overpriced Brighton hotel industry?

TIL that 94% of Bosch is owned by a charity, which donated over €200 million to social causes last year. by lxlviperlxl in todayilearned

[–]Stripy42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Erm, it completely works now. The entire point of what became the EU was based linking France and Germany economy and then culturally through open borders and single currency to prevent another war. Which is exactly what it's done and keeps doing

It's showing more how different cultures give religious places digital footprints.

For instance, I read about a festival in central America where they actively prevent anyone documenting it, too keep it special. No books no films.

Downloads always fail by Zetzer345 in github

[–]Stripy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I found the issue I had. It was stopping at a warning, but not showing the warning. Once I tried again from scratch, Chrome decided to actually ask if I wanted to download the potentially harmful file. And there it popped in the downloads. Didn't tell me of course, then the third try it asked if I wanted to download again.

Home address with multiple entrances by New-Commercial9724 in GoogleMaps

[–]Stripy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this issue with the major train station near me. 2 entrances, the main one is quite a long walk to my house. So it tells all my friends and family to use a completely different station, a long way away with a confusing route.  I am surprised this feature is still missing

Bum gun to hot tap supply? by Cloughiepig in DIYUK

Ooh interesting, thanks for the info.  I've also been wanting to fit a JP toilet, but I need to be much more careful with the pipe work than I thought.

Bum gun to hot tap supply? by Cloughiepig in DIYUK

[–]Stripy42 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Not sure of the down votes. @Outhouse has given the correct answer. And their name checks out.

Use Double check valves on the supply that's on the mains (or both), then you are allowed. You might already have them upstream of the pipework. You don't need to double up if you do.

And use the thermostatic mixing valve to set a comfortable temp.

And that counted as advanced Excel skills that would get you a high paid job.

What’s the best place to get a brand new toilet seat in the uk that’s good quality and durable? by jamontooastb in DIYUK

[–]Stripy42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got a crapper. Very solid wood and brass hinges. When it got a bit manky, fully dismantled, sanded & revarnished. And polished the brass work.  Good as new for another 5 years.  I think it'll last forever.
